Overview
VoxelSniper is the premier long range map editing tool for Minecraft. This mod allows you to edit any block that you can see using an arrow (for replacing) and a gunpowder (for adding). It is best used by those with a strong attention to detail and fits a wide array of applications, from making detailed edits to structures with the snipe brush, to making massive terraforming jobs a breeze with some of the earth shattering soft selection tools.
Metrics
This plugin utilises Hidendra's plugin metrics system, which means that the following information is collected and sent to mcstats.org:
- A unique identifier
- The server's version of Java
- Whether the server is in offline or online mode
- The plugin's version
- The server's version
- The OS version/name and architecture
- The core count for the CPU
- The number of players online
- The Metrics version
- The number of Snipers/LiteSnipers online
- The number of times Brushes are used
Opting out of this service can be done by editing plugins/Plugin Metrics/config.yml and changing opt-out to true.

Just trying to be helpful... Is there some problem with that?
@potatoboy2
Thank you very much for posting that comment. If people only gain the patience to read, the world might begin to benefit from people like you. :)

@vaupell
The sniper jar by itself should be available at the voxel wiki at the link in the above post: http://www.voxelwiki.com/minecraft/VoxelSniper It is located on the far right at the bottom of the box located there.
@roadslide42
same problem, ive been looking at the wiki also installed this "voxelupdate.jar" which does nothing
there are no instructions on the update thingy or atleast not obvious cant find info on getting voxelsniper anymore.
Instructions please, how do i get the sniper jar OR how do we use this updater ?
Hello, I am in need of support.
I have installed voxelsniper on my server and have added myself to the list of voxelsnipers, when I use the arrow I can destroy blocks with it however I can't seem to change the brush. The installation of voxelsniper is fairly vital for me, I created the server so that I could create an adventure map with voxelsniper (seeing as it is not avaliable on singelplayer)
When I try to change the brush (for example typing /b e 1) it tells me that the player is not found.
''Invalid name: player not found"
I have installed:
Essentials.jar, EssentialsChat.jar, Essentialsprotect.jar, EssentialsSpawn.jar
Any idea what do do?
Thanks for making such a fantastic plugin :)
Edit: Please just ignore these people, voxelsniper requires you to make a lot of commands and its best that they be kept small.
@Maxxgold
Please don't make this into a flame-war, I agree with your complaint, but I don't think that this has to turn into a Sniper vs. WorldEdit problem, especially when they both have their features that the other does not have. The Bukkit.yml file can also assign aliases to commands to stop conflicts, and the plugin.yml can be edited like many have said before me.
Although I agree with some of the things said here, I think that conflicts could be checked and avoided relatively easily if both plugin developers decided they wanted to. I would personally like more config options, like per-world disable and disable of welcome messages for instance.
@Maxxgold
You know, you could just open Voxel Sniper's plugin.yml (or Vampire's for that matter) and change the command names around to your liking.
Then again, someone like you probably isn't smart enough to figure that out. I suppose it's for the best then that you don't use Voxel Sniper. ;)
Edit: Well derp, przerwap said it before me. I suppose that makes it even worse, actually. He told you how to fix the problem and you still insist on giving up and using World Edit. What a shame.
Voxel Sniper = Pile of SHIT
lol I could care less about the /v for vampire. The /p for mcmmo combined with that and other plugins is just ridiculous. There are dozens of complaints and it's an easy fix so not sure why your such an asshole to not fix it. Anyways fuck you and your stupid plugin. I'll just continue to use world edit. They were smart enough to use the command so that their plugin wouldn't conflict with other plugins. It's not my fault your to stupid to figure it out.
@przerwap Fair enough, if VoxelUpdate downloads the file I want, and I can then disable it and use the actual plugin instead.. I'd say no harm.. But I'd still prefer the direct link here, as per the community standards, even tho BukkitDev does have some organization problems. And again, why not just create a whole new plugin page for VoxelUpdate, instead of changing the download links of EVERY Voxel plugin to the same file. If people want the updater/manager, they could get it on it's page, even be pointed in that direction by the other pages, as the 'easy way', while still allowing access to the direct files.
Besides, I like doing that "hard work" myself. Every time a developer goes the more user-friendly route, those of us who already know what we're doing, feel like we lose some control. It's nice to provide a user-friendly option, but not at the cost of the manual/technical options/methods.
Anyway, I didn't mean to be annoying or say something to tick u off.. =/ I really like the plugin and the effort put into it.. I just have some weird quirks when it comes to these things.
Unrelated question; Is it possible to disable the on-join brush description chat notifications? They can sometimes get in the way of other chat Welcome Messages.. I've been wondering this for months, just never got around to asking.. Looked over the Wiki and configs multiple times, but never found it. If it doesn't exist, might be a nice option to add.
@Maxxgold
"If it's not broken don't fix it"
Either way, how many times do I have to point out that /vampire is NOT used every 5 min, not even every hour of the day. /v of VoxelSniper is used Multiple times a Minute! That is why it is short and to the point. It has always been this way, and it always Will be. /p is a luxury command, I agree, but It takes at most 5 minutes to:
Open VoxelSniper.jar with any un-archiving tool, will it be WinRar, 7zip, or what else you might use. Open the plugin.yml file with ANY text editor. Simply Delete the entry of
Save Quit Reload
Edit: "How about using your own commands" You have got to be trolling me. VoxelSniper has been around since hMod was around, way before Bukkit or any of these plugins that Insist on using MY commands. And than they dare tell me to change my damn commands.
@NikoKun
Your name strangely ticks me off for some reason. Anywho..
Your IT instincts are quite wrong in the matter. VoxelUpdate is here because these BukkitDev 'pages' are not sufficient and quite honestly are really not organized like they were so promised to be. VoxelUpdate is here for the simple fact to allow you to update any of our plugins simply by typing in a command while sitting in your comfy chair playing on your favorite server. Not only does it give you the opportunity to not have to leave the server at all or visit any of these bulky websites, but it will also tell you when an update is available for any installed Voxel plugin you might have. It also allows you to 'try out' any of our plugins by temporarily installing it with yet another simple command.
No scams, no hooks, no unnecessary advertisements, or anything else of the sort.
Please refrain from scaring off the less-understanding users by posting allegations like that. Send me a PM instead with any questions or concerns you might have.
Also! The VoxelSniper you downloaded from the wiki is already outdated by yet newer release which includes updated undo code for proper undo'ing of the new blocks.
As a final statement, VoxelUpdate does not add steps to your enjoyment of VoxelSniper, if anything it takes steps out.
How many people have to complain about /p before you fix it. How about using your own commands instead of /v /p use /vx you know something original.
I'm gonna rant a bit here.. soo bare with me.. I'm not trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.. It's not that big of a deal.
I love this plugin, I really do, been using it most the year, and it's allowed me and my users to make some amazing things.. BUT (and this may just be a personal pet peeve) I really hate that the download link here links to something called "VoxelUpdate" instead of just a direct link to voxelsniper.jar. (Indirect links like that shouldn't be allowed on this site, IMHO, a separate plugin page listing should be made for VoxelUpdate, instead of uploading it OVER EVERY Voxel plugin download link..)
Please put a direct link back up, some of us are greatly opposed to downloading some extra thing, in order to get what we originally set out to get. It's an unnecessary added step, and it adds a junk jar to our servers, even if just temporary, and some of us are protective and uneasy about such a thing.
Not accusing anyone of anything evil, but on the surface this updater thing seems like the type of tactic a shady company would use to force you to download more of their crap. Surely, you've done it for 'ease of use' and to promote the various other Voxel things.. But for those paranoid server operators among us, I'm sure most of us would appreciate a direct link. We can find your other plugins quite easily thank you, as you already plaster ads/links for them on everything. lol
And if the logic is to make it easier to update so many plugins.. Well I see the point, but at the same time, all these various BukkitDev pages still need to be updated to correspond with current versions, so it doesn't really fix the effort involved.
If not for the direct jar link on the Voxel wiki (please don't remove that too), I probably would have given up on this plugin entirely, because the indirect link and updater thing raises danger-flags in my internet/IT instincts. =/ Which breaks my heart, because I absolutely love this plugin, and the creativity it has brought.. I respect it's makers, I just don't understand their logic with this download link change..
Both methods are useful to different people. Some people, who use multiple Voxel plugins, may want the VoxelUpdate thing.. But some people only use 1 plugin, and would rather just have the direct link. Pretty sure BukkitDev lets you put both files up.
Anyway, thanks for a great plugin, it works perfectly on the current Bukkit version so far.
@dademon216
Our performer system is going to stay; now, you can use /b [brush] [performer code] if truly necessary.
voxelsniper /p is interfering with mcmmo's /p for party chat.. is there any way to change /p for this plugin or disable performers at all?
@roadslide: Please read our wiki documentation on VoxelUpdate.
Where is the voxelsniper.jar? I would think that you would need that download link on the page its supposed to be on rather than giving me something that doesn't do anything to help me.
Voxelsniper.jar does not exist in my plugins folder yet every time I start my server it recreates the voxelsniper folder in the plugins folder. Voxelsniper still runs on the server, I can still use it. How do I get rid of this?
