TravelPortals
TravelPortals is a plugin which allows users to teleport between locations using structures made mainly of obsidian. The goal of this was to create a quick way to move users from place to place without making the method to do so completely free.
MinecraftZero has created a video showing them in action. It is available here!

You shouldn't need to do that to accomplish what you want to. First of all, if you create a portal, it is yours automatically. You don't have to use /portal claim. The claim command is to claim portals made in earlier versions of the plugin which don't have an owner. Owning a portal means that by default you can use this portal and destroy it. Users can use portals created by other users if they have the admin.use permission; otherwise they are stuck with their own portals only. By default with permissions enabled, users cannot destroy others' portals.
In short, as long as you set up your permissions correctly, you should be good to go on what you want.
Guys I have a question. First of all what Im doing is creating plots that users can claim and build on. So Im creating portals at the default spawn area for each plot, so the user can easily come and go to and from their plots.
My question is, since im the OP, I want to claim all the portals so that they cannot be destroyed. If I claim them all can other users, use the portals ? And, is claiming a portal just to stop others from destroying it or what ?
I plan on having several portals. Hope yu guys can help me on this one.

The comment DIRECTLY before yours was someone mentioning the same problem, to which I responded that this has happened before and I have never been able to reproduce the problem or isolate a cause despite putting a number of hours of my life into trying. I gave him advice on how to potentially solve it and asked him for a bunch of information that might help me track it down. If you could please read that post and respond with that information, that would be very nice. There is nothing more I can do with the information you gave me at all.
Thanks
huahu tonight all my portals goes off.. xD...pls fix it..i have 1.2.5 r1..linux..i tried to use a backup, rename it and restart but nothin..
@TheEvilBaby
That is definitely a real problem, and one that I'm concerned about. If you don't mind, I'd like more information about your setup. About two other people have had this problem in the past, and I've never been able to reproduce it, but I've tried every time. I literally want to know everything about this one - what OS (and version if it's a linux/bsd), what java version, what craftbukkit version, what plugin version, what other plugins are being run on the server, and anything else that you can provide me would be helpful. You don't have to provide this, but all of this would be helpful to me. Most people can't reproduce this problem, and I am still struggling to find out what causes it.
As far as restoring from backups goes, shut down your server entirely, and move TravelPortals.ser out of the plugins/TravelPortals.ser folder/rename it to something else. Next, go to the backups folder and take one of the backups (you may want to go a few versions back - these are saved with every portal created and have a timestamp on them.) out of here, and put it into plugins/TravelPortals. Rename this file to TravelPortals.ser, so that it replaces your original file, and restart your server. With any luck, you should have your portals back. If not, you can try another version. Right after you have this happen, you may want to copy the entire backups folder somewhere else, just to be sure new backups don't overwrite the old ones with a new corrupted backup. In addition, you may want to increase the number of backups made in the config file since you said that this happens regularly. Let me know if you run into any snags.
Please get me that additional information though. This problem isn't a small one, and has been plaguing the plugin for a while. Getting to the bottom of it has been a top priority but I simply have not been able to isolate a cause. Thanks for any insights that you might provide.
We've been running this on our server for several months now and love the mod. Periodically, however, all of our portal data resets and none of the back-ups allow me to re-write our data. This is a true problem because we have a couple hundred separate portals running over a vast space. How does one restore from back-ups the official way?
@levisn1
I've never seen that problem, so I don't know. As I always ask, have you seen any error messages, or anything interesting in the logs, or has your server randomly crashed recently? If you do not shut down the server properly (using the stop command) portals may not be saved. In addition, if you move a portal using a world editing tool the portal will cease functioning. Beyond that, I don't know what to tell you.
sometimes some portals goes off..why? and i have to reactivate them..i use the last version on 1.2.5. r1
@kenjin002
The entire point of this plugin is the portal design. No, I will not change it to be like the default portals built into the game.
If you just want nether portals, there are dozens of other plugins that provide what you want. Obviously you can't import existing portals from this into another plugin, but if that's really what you're seeking, I suggest another plugin.
Thanks for using the plugin, and I'm sorry that it does not meet your needs.
@cppchrispp
Sir I have a suggestion can you change your design just like a nether portal ,
I dont mean that I hate your work I totaly appreciate it ,
Its just the door is kind of irritating and my players get drowned on the water :((
please response :D
@cppchriscpp
Sorry I didn't see your explanation :(
It was a big feature for me but I can understand you not wanting to add it in, thanks anyway.
@Scarrez
As explained in the description at the top under recent news in bold text, the bug tracker is down because it was the cause of an exploit which caused bad things.
I've actually answered this one before, though you couldn't know that since the bugtracker is down. I do not intend to add anything related to economy systems to this. Sorry if this was a big feature for you.
Hi,
I would post this as a feature request but I got this "404 Not Found" so I thought I would post a comment instead, I like this mod, the idea around making players work to get a portal but I was thinking you could add in on the portal create function an economy cost like iConomy, Vault would be an easy option I would think to add in.
If it's to much of a hassle to add in don't worry but I just thought it would be a good addition.
@cppchriscpp
That would be great, I don't want people creating portals all over the map like crazy. If you could add this it would be great, thanks. Also, if you do plan on adding it, any idea when?
@FordRacer2007
Not at the moment, no. Now that portals are owned by players this could definitely be done, though.
Hi, is there any way to have a permission to limit the amount of portals each person can create? I'd like to let my VIP members create 2 portals max.
@Takedashin
It seems like a possibility... you are also using the latest RB, right? Hopefully a silly question. The only one of those I could actually see conflicting is signportals - but as far as I know it does not have a /portal command, which would be the main cause. I admittedly have never used or even seen a few of those, though I can say that it will work with multiverse-core, permissionsbukkit, terraincontrol and worldedit. If you think this is the case, you could try removing all other plugins and see if it works then. If this is the case, let me know, and I'll see what I can do about the problem.
The other possibility is that your TravelPortals.ser is either deleted, corrupted, or can't be created. This file resides in plugins/TravelPortals, and if it goes missing, any portals that were in it will stop working. When you reinstalled, you almost definitely lost any existing portals. Can you use commands on newly created portals?
Reading your original post again though, it does not seem to be working at all. Are there any errors when you start up your server with the plugin installed? You don't have to add water to the portal yourself; it should show up and replace the redstone torch when you place that. If you're having to place the water yourself, the plugin isn't working. (Or you could be creating portals incorrectly.) It should also put a message in the chat when you create a portal telling you that you have done so. Is this happening?
Sorry to ask you for a ton of information, but I want to help you get to the bottom of what is going wrong, and knowing all of this will help me diagnose your problem more effectively. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
@cppchriscpp
yes I use the latest version. I uninstalled the plugin and installed it again. Still can't name portals nether any other option cause it can't notice a portal as a portal it seems :/
could it be that there is a conflict with an other plugin?
I use
-ColorMe -CommandBook -dynmap -HomespawnPlus -Logblock -LWC -Multiverse-Core -PermissionsBukkit -Sidekick -SignPort -Skillz -SkylandsPlus -TerrainControl -WorldEdit -WorldGuard
@Bluehog4u
I won't have time to look into your problem for a few days, unfortunately. I'll keep it in mind, and thanks for clicking the link.
As to why it's down, please read the first line of the latest news. I'm very, VERY aware of the problem, however I have not yet had the time to upgrade redmine to a secure version. I cannot risk the machine being compromised a second time.
Hey there. Love the plugin, makes getting around a breeze.
Two problems though.
1 ) Your tickets link isn't working (hence why I'm posting here)
2) Problem with the actual plugin.
No with travelportals.portal.destroy can actually destroy any portal, even their own.
The only way to destroy a portal is with the permission travelportals.admin.portal.destroy
We are using the PeX permissions, and the latest RB of bukkit and the latest version of this plugin.
