I'm too lazy to upload TARDIS files to Bukkit anymore, as builds are automatically created when the plugin is updated and changes pushed to GitHub.
Version specific downloads can be found here: https://tardis.pages.dev/download
Please make sure you are using the latest Spigot/Paper builds (for the Minecraft version you are running) before installing TARDIS or creating an issue!
What it does
TARDIS is a plugin that gives you the ability to create a Police Box that lets you time travel (teleport) to random locations. It adds a Whovian twist to the typical /sethome and /home commands.
As a player, you can:
- Create a TARDIS that is bigger on the inside.
- Time travel to a random location.
- Time travel back home (where you created the TARDIS initially).
- Save and list interesting time travel locations, so you can return to them easily.
- Take companions with you when you time travel.
- Make your TARDIS blend in with the Chameleon Circuit.
- Use your own schematic to build the TARDIS interior
- Grow new TARDIS rooms
- Use Artron Energy
- Remote control the TARDIS
- Custom TARDIS sounds with companion Resource Pack
- Custom TARDIS textures with companion Resource Pack

Installation
As a minimum, just drop the TARDIS.jar, TARDISChunkGenerator.jar (look under Additional Files on the download page) and any optional plugins listed below into the Bukkit plugins folder and start your server. For more detailed instructions see: https://tardis.pages.dev/installation-v5
Optional installs
These are not needed for TARDIS to function, but enhance the plugin with extra features...
- Install the TARDIS-SoundResourcePack in the Minecraft client to hear custom TARDIS sounds
- Install the TARDIS-Resource-Pack to see aal the fancy textures and models (requires TARDIS v4.2 or higher).
- Install the TARDISChunkGenerator plugin so that you can generate TARDISes in their own self-contained world (included on the TARDIS plugin download page under Additional files).
- Install WorldGuard to automatically protect your TARDIS from griefing, and stop mobs spawning in TARDIS worlds.
- Install TARDISWeepingAngels to add some Whovian mobs to the game.
- Install a Permissions plugin, so that you can restrict or grant players the rights to use TARDIS’ different features. We like PermissionsBukkit.

Bugs / Requests
Please post a ticket for TARDIS plugin requests and bugs, thank you :)
WARNING: I am no longer prepared to waste my time looking at incomplete tickets. If your ticket does not follow the guidelines set out below, it will be deleted immediately!
Make sure you have read the FAQs first, as your question may already be answered there. Also make sure you have searched for a previous ticket with the same/similar issue (use the Filters to search closed tickets).
If you are going to create a BUG ticket you need to supply relevant information (as I'm not a mind reader, nor do I have access to your server...) - as a minimum you need:
- Exact CraftBukkit version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the
/tardis version
command if possible, otherwise copy from server log - Exact TARDIS version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the
/tardis version
command if possible, otherwise copy from server log - The server log showing the entire error (as a paste or at Pastebin - NOT a screenshot) - this should be the log from when the server starts up right through to when the error occurs
- If no error in the log, then a video of the bug happening or the EXACT steps needed to reproduce the issue.
- Attach your plugins/TARDIS/config.yml file or other configuration file if relevant
- Attach your plugins/TARDIS/TARDIS.db file if relevant
- List of other plugins on server
Stats
Basic statistics are collected for some versions of the TARDIS plugin (v2.5.8 and earlier). You can opt out at any time by setting opt-out: true
in plugins/PluginMetrics/config.yml
External web access
Version 2.8 (and higher) of this plugin includes a translation feature (the /tardissay
command) that connects to the Lingva translation service.
You can prevent players from using the command by removing / not giving them the permission tardis.translate
@beimeith
1) That should be possible, I'll add it to the list of todos.
2) Yes, I had this happen myself, also annoying falling into water and out of trees! The only reason I haven't implemented this yet is for aesthetic reasons (and I quite like the fact that there is a little bit of danger involved), but I may look at adding a platform if the destination would require it - it might make it into the next version, but I'd rather concentrate on the companion functionality first, so maybe the version after...
@eccentricnz
Haha ok lol, very clever ;-)
@eccentricnz
I use quite a few plugins, though I have a beast of a machine to support them all.
I disabled them all and am currently re-enabling them one by one to see what the trouble is.
In the meantime, I have two requests: 1) Can you add a way to exclude specific worlds as destinations? 2) Can you add a small platform for the TARDIS to sit on that extends 1-2 blocks in front of it? That way if it puts you on the edge of a cliff you won't fall off when you click out. (I have had this happen).
Also, when I previewed this to my friend she was giddy with excitement. Good job, sir.
@Iomega0318
Bigger on the inside? It's all to do with trans-dimensional engineering - the inside and outside exist in separate dimensions (or in this case, different locations).
Haha I have to give you props on this one lol! Very creative and awesome plugin!
Just out of curiosity, how exactly is it bigger on the inside?
I actually had a dream the other day I wanted to build a house that was bigger inside than it was outside in Minecraft lol..
Found a bug If you in creative and travel using the Tardis it sets your fly mode off you need to set a check to check if the player is in creative then re-enable fly mode.
@beimeith
What other plugins are you running?
Whenever I set any of the redstone repeaters (not counting the home/save one) the server seems to crash. There is no error in the console, it simply stops working, no commands will work at all.
The client receives a normal timeout message. I am used the latest dev version of bukkit, and the latest version of your plugin.
Version 1.2.2 uploaded - Built against latest Bukkit dev build 1.3.1-R1.1 (Build #1528)
Sorry, haven't had much time to work on the next version with support for companions, but it is in progress!
Love this show and love the plugin cant wait to be able to bring friends
@dean2016258
Taking someone with you in the TARDIS is planned for the next version, see comment #23 below Will maybe start on it this week, but it depends how much other work I have on...
is it possable so if someone makes a tardis, someone else can use it?
expample: player 1 makes a tardis and enters it, as player 1 is in the tardis, player 2 clicks the door with the key, and he is sent into the tardis. in the current version it says to player 2 that they havent made a tardis, but can it be like stated? like a config option to make tardisis per tardis, not per player?
@eccentricnz
Yes it is, i will test that later tonight Thank you
@Adondriel
Can you give me any more details? Like is
allow-flight=true
in server properties?[SOLVED] Please try v1.2.1
Getting a weird error:
02:06:52 [WARNING] Task of 'TARDIS' generated an exception java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot make player fly if getAllowFlight() is false at org.bukkit.craftbukkit.entity.CraftPlayer.setFlying(CraftPlayer.java:828) at me.eccentric_nz.plugins.TARDIS.TARDISListener$3.run(TARDISListener.java:347) at org.bukkit.craftbukkit.scheduler.CraftScheduler.mainThreadHeartbeat(CraftScheduler.java:126) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.w(MinecraftServer.java:533) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.run(MinecraftServer.java:459) at net.minecraft.server.ThreadServerApplication.run(SourceFile:492)
@bryantkelley14
Thanks you, glad you like it. Probably not perfect yet, but I'll get there as I learn more stuff :)
@ewized
I thought I had the safe location sorted better, but it seems not... I'm checking a 3 wide x 5 long x 4 high area, so that should be allowing for a 2 block area in front of the door. Will work on this some more in the next version.
Will also look at block replacement for the inner TARDIS as well, maybe if bonus chest is false then it returns blocks when TARDIS is destroyed, but keeps the current behaviour if bonus chest is true.
@OverSizedRabbit
Thank you, it can only get better with encouragement like that :)
@helen269
Passengers are next on the list, will probably implement a friends list type of thing, with a command
/tardis add [player name]
The inner TARDIS is created at levels 15 to 22 underground (or above ground in a flat world) in the chunk that the Police box is placed - giving away the magician's secrets... Sometimes you can hear some odd things going on outside the TARDIS walls! Have looked into suppressing sounds when in the TARDIS, but not possible without a client mod - that one will have to wait till Minecraft 1.4 and the new Mod API...
At the moment the travel distance is defaulted to 256 blocks maximum, but you can change this in the config settings. I'm thinking of changing the Y co-ordinate repeater settings to a multiplier as the random location function doesn't really need a Y co-ord (it just finds the highest block at X, Z).
It is perfect. Thank-you so much for putting your time into this great mod. I will recommend it to anyone I know running a server.
