I'm too lazy to upload TARDIS files to Bukkit anymore, as builds are automatically created when the plugin is updated and changes pushed to GitHub.
Version specific downloads can be found here: https://tardis.pages.dev/download
Please make sure you are using the latest Spigot/Paper builds (for the Minecraft version you are running) before installing TARDIS or creating an issue!
What it does
TARDIS is a plugin that gives you the ability to create a Police Box that lets you time travel (teleport) to random locations. It adds a Whovian twist to the typical /sethome and /home commands.
As a player, you can:
- Create a TARDIS that is bigger on the inside.
- Time travel to a random location.
- Time travel back home (where you created the TARDIS initially).
- Save and list interesting time travel locations, so you can return to them easily.
- Take companions with you when you time travel.
- Make your TARDIS blend in with the Chameleon Circuit.
- Use your own schematic to build the TARDIS interior
- Grow new TARDIS rooms
- Use Artron Energy
- Remote control the TARDIS
- Custom TARDIS sounds with companion Resource Pack
- Custom TARDIS textures with companion Resource Pack

Installation
As a minimum, just drop the TARDIS.jar, TARDISChunkGenerator.jar (look under Additional Files on the download page) and any optional plugins listed below into the Bukkit plugins folder and start your server. For more detailed instructions see: https://tardis.pages.dev/installation-v5
Optional installs
These are not needed for TARDIS to function, but enhance the plugin with extra features...
- Install the TARDIS-SoundResourcePack in the Minecraft client to hear custom TARDIS sounds
- Install the TARDIS-Resource-Pack to see aal the fancy textures and models (requires TARDIS v4.2 or higher).
- Install the TARDISChunkGenerator plugin so that you can generate TARDISes in their own self-contained world (included on the TARDIS plugin download page under Additional files).
- Install WorldGuard to automatically protect your TARDIS from griefing, and stop mobs spawning in TARDIS worlds.
- Install TARDISWeepingAngels to add some Whovian mobs to the game.
- Install a Permissions plugin, so that you can restrict or grant players the rights to use TARDIS’ different features. We like PermissionsBukkit.

Bugs / Requests
Please post a ticket for TARDIS plugin requests and bugs, thank you :)
WARNING: I am no longer prepared to waste my time looking at incomplete tickets. If your ticket does not follow the guidelines set out below, it will be deleted immediately!
Make sure you have read the FAQs first, as your question may already be answered there. Also make sure you have searched for a previous ticket with the same/similar issue (use the Filters to search closed tickets).
If you are going to create a BUG ticket you need to supply relevant information (as I'm not a mind reader, nor do I have access to your server...) - as a minimum you need:
- Exact CraftBukkit version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the
/tardis version
command if possible, otherwise copy from server log - Exact TARDIS version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the
/tardis version
command if possible, otherwise copy from server log - The server log showing the entire error (as a paste or at Pastebin - NOT a screenshot) - this should be the log from when the server starts up right through to when the error occurs
- If no error in the log, then a video of the bug happening or the EXACT steps needed to reproduce the issue.
- Attach your plugins/TARDIS/config.yml file or other configuration file if relevant
- Attach your plugins/TARDIS/TARDIS.db file if relevant
- List of other plugins on server
Stats
Basic statistics are collected for some versions of the TARDIS plugin (v2.5.8 and earlier). You can opt out at any time by setting opt-out: true
in plugins/PluginMetrics/config.yml
External web access
Version 2.8 (and higher) of this plugin includes a translation feature (the /tardissay
command) that connects to the Lingva translation service.
You can prevent players from using the command by removing / not giving them the permission tardis.translate
It appears that the in game help needs updating :) Such a great plugin, thank you for creating it!
Looks like you have a bit of competition now not that it is a bad thing but he is even using the exact same name TARDIS so when I thought I was downloading a update I was really downloading a different plugin.
Hello, I was wanting to know if you could PLEASE make it where you can change how the outside of your TARDIS ,and how it looks. I found a other TARDIS plugin that had a sign with your username on it, and where you could make it out of almost any block. I found the TARDIS with the sign that said "Property Of: <Username>" very cool. With that it would make this a EXTREMELY cool plugin. (P.S. I already really love this plugin. It is by far my favorite plugin :D.)
@Bc1151
Ah, this is my fault, I left in some redundant code, which if you already had a pre1.8 database wouldn't matter, but if you run the plugin for the first time it no longer creates the save1 column in the database.
This update will fix it: TARDIS-1.8.1.jar
@Bc1151
Did you run the /tardisadmin updatesaves as there is no longer the save repeater but its not an environment selector so this may cause the problem.
7:06:17 AM [SEVERE] [TARDIS] Get TARDIS from Button Error: java.sql.SQLException: no such column: 'save1' hey, i keep getting this error whenever my players try to use the tardis, please help?!
Thanks -Bc1151@SeeJayEmm
Sorted the chest access and build flags, are there any others that you have found don't work?
@SeeJayEmm
Thanks for the heads up, pretty new to the whole WG API... Will add the correct flags to the WG region for the next version - due soon
@DoctrSuSE
I've figured out what is causing the dupe/ghost bug, and have fixed the hide/rebuild side of it :) It's quite hard for me to test the companion stuff usually (coding late at night when kids are in bed, having to have two MC client instances running as well as the server - all on my MacBook Pro), so wasn't aware of that particular case, will code a fix for the next release!
Seems like resource duplication is nearly 100% when a companion is involved in travel... In fact, if I take a companion somewhere, exit, they exit, then I get back in and leave... they can re-enter through the ghost TARDIS and all the dupe copies are left behind.
I found what I believe is a "bug" in the new WorldGuard integration. When the region is created for the new tardis the "owner" of the region isn'y configured with any rights. This is especially evident with chests.
i.e. WorldGuard defaults to chest-access = deny. So the player has to take the extra step of typing /region flag tardis_username -g owner allow. This also applies to other rights such as build.
I got my permissions issue worked out (with PermissionsBukkit as you referenced) and all is well on that front.
Everything seems to be working perfectly except that we're still having resource duplication issues. Various combinations of hiding, comehere'ing, etc seems to create old TARDIS shells where free wool, dirt, and torches can be had.
Running 1.7.8. :)
I'll try it the other way, then. Thanks for the help and patience!
@Flowster12345
GroupManager doesn't use the :false syntax, just put:
Note the first dash indicating its a permission node, then the second dash (really a minus) meaning take the permission away.
I have tested TARDIS with GroupManager, and I haven't had to do this and it works OK so I'm not sure what's really going on...
I managed to un-exile myself. And now have no other permissions. At all. Any idea what happened? I'm using groupmanager and added - tardis.exile: false before the other permissions, if that helps you figure out what's wrong. I'm going to tool around with groupmanager while waiting for a response.. :/
@Flowster12345
Read this comment and see if it makes any difference to time travelling - let me know if not!
I'm not sure how your average Joe Bloggs player would get access to uploading their own schematic to use, but I'm coming round to the idea of changing the middle block to get different schematics. If you haven't posted a ticket, I'll put one up later :)
@eccentricnz
I know I can edit the schematics (although I'm having some issues with that as well which I hope will resolve themselves soon) but I meant in future updates, it would be cool if we could add tardis designs without replacing old ones, so that everyone could have their own custom tardis. And for some reason, whenever I try to travel anywhere in my tardis, I get the message "Notice: your travel has been restricted to the [] area!" and then another one at the same time "All available parking spots are taken in this area!"
@Flowster12345
In what way do TARDIS areas block you from travelling anywhere? You don't have to set up areas at all - the random time travel works as usual without them... at least it does for on my server setup, maybe you need to check your permissions setup?
Re. the schematics, you can already use your own schematics... Or if you really want a nether TARDIS, just do a WorldEdit
/replace
on the wool blocks to change them to nether brick...I may look at changing the blocks that are used to construct the inner TARDIS, but I'd change the Lapis (middle) Block, so that bottom block determines size, middle block determines construction material.
Feel free to post a Request Ticket :)
Is there any way to remove the whole areas thing? I'd like my TARDIS to be able to just go anywhere, but that functionality is blocked by areas and there doesn't seem to be any way to override it.
Also, something that would make this plugin much more enjoyable would be the ability to add other TARDIS types, perhaps one for several different blocks? For example, if I wanted to make a Nether themed TARDIS, then I could use netherrack for the bottom block instead of iron or gold or diamond. Then the schematic file could be saved as "netherrack.schematic" or <blockid>.schematic for other types. That way we could have a huge number of possible TARDISes, since I can't imagine that everyone wants to be restricted to three types of TARDIS.
@Thatotherjanitor
Have read of the Areas page
Use the
/tardisarea
commands to define the area, then give yourself and whoever else you want to be able to travel to the area the permission:tardis.area.thenameyoucalledtheareawhenyoudefinedit
@WolfyHige
That is a good question! Think I need to add a
/tardistravel remove
command, new version will be out later this week...
