Spectate
What is spectate?
Spectate allows you to watch players from their point of view, simply by typing in /spectate (player). You will see exactly what they see, and they'll never know you were watching them.
You can also watch them from different angles. There's Third Person, Third Person Front (looking at their face), and Freeroam (you can walk freely around and watch them from any angle).
There's also "Scroll" mode and "Scan" mode. Scroll mode allows you to right and left click to change between players, and Scan mode will change the player you're spectating every few seconds (you can set how long until it switches to the next person).
There's also an API, which allows developers to take control of the entire plugin.
To see a full list of everything you can do with Spectate, head over to the Commands page.
Spectate has undergone a complete rewrite.
Please make sure your permissions are up to date, and please report any bugs on the tickets page.
Spectate 2.0 is here!
2.0 includes:
- A complete rewrite of the entire plugin from the ground up.
- Lots of bugs fixes!
- Spectate is now compatible with Multiverse Inventories.
- A fresh new API that lets developers control the ENTIRE plugin!
And some new features:
- A new spectate angle, Third Person Front mode! Now you can watch the player you're spectating while looking at their face. What more could you ask for?
- Another new spectate angle, Free Roam mode! Now you can walk around like a ghost while still viewing their inventory. Spooky!
- You can now see the gamemode and XP of the player you're spectating!
- If you were invisible before spectating, you will still be invisible when you stop spectating.
And many more features I forgot to write down!
So what are you waiting for? Download the plugin for the complete Spectating experience today!

The main reason that causes it to seem so laggy is because of the way the plugin updates your position. Because of this, It's probably not fixable, but I'm still working on improving the plugin every way I can.
And I was planning on adding the ability to see what item they're holding and what they have in their inventory, so check back soon. ;)
Tested on "Spectate 1.0.1" works perfect!
Only suggestion i have is, try to work on the performance improvements such as when you spectate a player, chunks are loading slow and it seems pretty laggy when im viewing his screen.
Would really appreciate if there was any way of doing this. Again honestly this is a great plugin, good work.
Also i noticed when you spectate someone, you cant see what items they are placing or their inventory. If you can make that available for future versions it would be awesome to see what items they have in hand and what they have in inventory :)
Thanks!
@andrewzhang
Ah, yes, I forgot to add that in. I wrote this up at 4 in the morning so I probably messed up in some places.
Dont you mean:
/spectate [PlayerName]?
Just one quest, even if they are too far away, let say
your in a coordinate
0 64 0
and he/she is in
1000 64 1000
can u still see him/her..?
Anyways this plugin will really change things for players who use vanish plugins now. Since vanish plugins were really meant for spectating but this is actually the real thing :)
@ThaSourceGaming
Thanks! And no, it doesn't use spout.
Hey chipmunk, once again another great release mate! Keep it up to date. and does this use spout?
very cool. I tested.
@colony88
I submitted an update, still waiting for it to get approved...
I can't get out of spectate mode -.-" I tried the command, but it says that I'm in spectate mode and keeps remembering me of the command /spectateoff but it doesn't work :'(
Look very nice. awesome job.
