SmoothElevator
What It Does
This plugin is a simple Elevator plugin that differs from many others in one way: It makes blocks float up and down in any size as an elevator. Currently it only supports one floor for now, but more will be added.
How To Make An Elevator
To create an elevator, use the command /se create <type> <height> {wait time after button} {wait time at top} {speed}. It will then ask you for several block selections: The elevator cuboid, the riding cuboid, and the upper and lower floor buttons. For the speed argument, anything under 0.3 is a bit jumpy but slow, and anything above 0.5 goes a bit too fast.
Types
- Spring Elevators (0) - These elevators go up, pause, and go back down.
- Toggle Elevators (1) - These elevators only go up and down when the button is pressed.

Installation
To install this plugin, first download PatPeter's SQLibrary here. This basically allows me to use some high-efficiency databasing to store all the elevators. Then, just download SmoothElevator and stick it in your plugins directory and your good to go!

Posted Jul 2, 2013Just uploaded it for 1.5.2 and 1.6.1. Yes, I know I'm a bit late on that, but to be honest I had it compiled for 1.5.2 and just forgot to upload. :P
And just so you know, I actively use this on my server, which pretty much means that it isn't going away until I create a replacement for it, which is unlikely to happen soon. I am working on an elevator plugin that will use the same mechanics, but will have more features like economy and multifloor support.

Uploading the next alpha, which is still an alpha until I merge this with V10lift. It works with 1.4.6, probably not with 1.4.7. If anyone needs it with 1.4.7, just ask and I'll make a build for it.

Were you standing on top of the riding area you set? It won't let you mount the entity unless you are standing close enough to the riding area.

Also, due to the "uniqueness" of the plugin (I haven't seen anything like it as of yet...), I'd appreciate any feedback about it. If you have any feature requests or bugs to report, just make a comment. Also, if it "just works," I'd like to know that as well.

I also started to test other uses for this besides elevators, and I found that it was useful for hidden doors, dams, spontaneously lifting houses, and raising a lake. However, having 1000+ floating block entities can cause a LOT of lag. What should have only taken 20 seconds stretched out to a total of about 10 minutes on a 1 person testing server. So basically, more volume (air not included) = more chance of lag depending on your server.
To get a rough estimate of lag, think of it like this. If you had 50 zombies clustered, it wouldn't make much lag. If you had 200, it might lag a bit. If you had 1000+ zombies, it's definitely going to lag. Just think of the floating blocks as any sort of entity.
