Slime Chunk Detector
Description
Using this plugin on your server, players will be able to find which blocks in the world belong to a slime chunk.
Usage
The use of the plugin is extremely simple, right click a block while holding a gunpowder and it will 'yay' or 'nay' you as to whether that block is inside of a slime chunk.
Extra
Since it is all server-side, getting the seed and calculating the block are easy, it doesn't expose the seed to anything client side so the Mojang rules of 1.2 are still adhered to with regards to not sending the seed to the client.
Reason for creating
I created this plugin simply because myself and some of the members on my server could no longer work out which chunks were slime ones so that we could avoid them for when building our bases, nothing worse than building your base right slap bang in the middle of 1 or 2 or even 3 of them and then having to deal with the constant abuse by the slimes.
Changelog
Had to upload v0.1c, the players on our server were complaining that whenever they used a dye item (such as bonemeal) it would trigger the messages, ended up finding out that an inksack is nothing more than a damage value for the most part.
Have changed the item to: Gunpowder
i config default items fr gunpoweder is sulphur: (i think thats the old craftbukkitname right?)
I would prefer it to have all language string in the config. Currently i had to hardtranslate it to my language (editing the strings in classfiles)
The dev forgot to list commands and permission in his plugin so here for you :3
Commands:
/scdetector reload - Reloads the plugin
Permission:
- scdetector.reload - permission to reload the plugin
- scdetector.canuse - need to use detect Slimes if its set true in config
I need a plugin like this we are selling slimespawners in spawnarea, and slimes wont spawn anywhere else than in the surface of a swamp biome.. or in a slime chunk apparently. This plugin will help our players to locate slimechunks. Gonna install this, and thanks alot, hope you update it if it wont work with 1.8 or something. :)
Anyone else actually know anything about slime monsterspawners? where, and when and why the slimes will spawn? layers etc.?
Thanks alot! :)
Is there a way to change the item you use to activate the messages without screwing anything up? cause in the server I'm moderator in has Challenges in our skyblock part of our server that require Gunpowder in order to complete so I think it would be safer to have it set as Nether Quarts or something that's never really used.
@ryan_the_leach
It should still work.
I never really bothered updating it much past 1.3 due to Slimes being able to spawn in swamps.
Does this still work? Also it would be cool if this ate the gunpowder.
@rockyct
Yeah, i've thought about doing a command for it. The tossup is always, use a wand, or use a command, with a wand, works great, you can set it to something difficult (hey, to use it, you gotta get a slimeball first :) ), but then you run into the problem of other plugins using the same wand.
Command has the same issue but not as bad.
@ray73864
That would be great. I guess the issue is that I would try to avoid people accidentally using it and being charged, but even allowing for a command instead of a tool would be nice.
@rockyct
I could more than likely do that, yes. Will have to think about it for a moment, perhaps tie it into Vault so that i can support all the economy plugins that Vault supports.
Then you could charge people whatever you like to use it.
Also need to fix up the wand handling so that it works on ID#'s instead of names.
I really like the idea of this plugin, but could you have it consume an object when it's used? I guess that would be hard because players could accidentally right click with gunpowder and then it would disappear. However, I would like it to cost something to use this plugin.
v0.3 uploaded just waiting on approval. Has been compiled against CB1.3.1-R1.0
Should work fine. I haven't gotten around to putting it back on my server yet, but unless bukkit was to majorly change how things work, this plugin should never get affected.
I will do a 1.3.1 compile later on today, just been busy with my work schedule.
hmm not updated yet...any chance that 1.2.5 R4.0 will work with 1.3.1 with little or no errors?
I'd like to try this too.
yay! hurray for all!
Yes, i plan on updating this on the weekend.
Will this be updated? because i plan on using this on 1.3.1
Uploaded a new version, has a few changes, new config file, couple of new perms, couple of new config options.
This version should work fine.
You can now choose whether the permission node 'canuse' is required or not for using this plugin and you can change what the wand is (default is SULPHUR).
The material name must match one that bukkit recognises, find the full list here:

@sbhouse
Not at present there isn't, no.
There can be though, what do you think? scdetector.canuse?
Also thinking about a config file at some stage too so that you can choose what the wand is instead of defaulting to gunpowder.
Hi! I love this plugin!
Is there a permission node that can be used to deny/grant access to this?

Just released my new companion plugin for this one, called 'SlimeChunkDisabler', available @ http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/slimechunkdisabler/
