After seeing a video by SethBling about his new SkyGrid project, I decided to create a bukkit world generator. In it's current form there aren't any configuration options, so I am open to suggestion.
Basic Idea
The basic idea of SkyGrid is that it's a world of blocks arranged in a pattern from bedrock to skylimit. The pattern is that of a checkerboard except that the blocks are spaced out by 3 air blocks. This requires a lot of jumping. Almost every game resource is available via blocks that can be destroyed or through randomly placed chests with goodies.
TL;DR
SkyGrid world generator. Very difficult to play.

Usage
I suggest using MultiVerse for managing your worlds.
/mv create <worldname> normal -g SkyGrid
then, jump to the world:
/mv tp <worldname>

never mind i did /mv tp world to get back to the world world

no necessarily a bug, it just uses so much processing power to render the world in that it makes u time out for it to finish
Plugin kick me after i do: /mv create <worldname> normal -g SkyGrid because the server need to create spawn point and all necessary file to make the map, but how can you fix this please? i use bukkit 1.7.2
But when i reconnect after 1 minute, all works good ;) It is just a bug after enter the command: /mv create <worldname> normal -g SkyGrid
this plugin is not good for me because its wilderness its players can break the blocks
That bug with the items disappearing is annoying! please fix

all the tools and armor in the chests have all their damage used up so as soon as you want to use them they disappear :/
will the 1.4.2 version work on a 1.3.2RB server? I tend to stay on the RB track...
theres a bug with the items like tools.weopons and armour
theres spawning with 0 health and they disappear as u take them out from the chests

Hi there, is there any chance you could also make a nether version of this that only generates nether blocks and chests? And that has that has the biome type set to nether so that it gets that haze? Thanks, YM

Yes and no, water and lava will cause more lag because they will go on forever if they "escape" from you. Also, a typical minecraft world doesn't generate higher than 128 or so. this generates all the way to sky limit. I'd say it probably still balances out.

These are good options to have, I will add the ability to pre-define all of the block types and item types. Spawners I will add as well.
What exactly do you mean by convert the script to java and make it a world generator. I already wrote it in java and made it a world generator, or are you just saying to import the list of blocks sethbling supported? I don't want people to be "locked in" to any one configuration. However, I will add the features you mentioned :)
I wonder if this would increase performance any... much less chunk data to send.
