Simple Prefix: Allows you to easily manage your chat with prefixes and suffixes.
This plugin uses prefixes and suffixes that are very easy to configure, from inside of an yml config file. You apply prefixes and suffixes per user or group in the /SimplePrefix/config.yml file.
Alternatively, Simple Prefix can be configured to get the prefixes and suffixes from Vault supported chat plugins instead (PermissionsEx, bPermissions, etc.)
You can fully alter the chat format. For example, you could achieve the following ingame:
- [Admin] Flabaliki: my message here
Or even, just completely mix and match the template to get the look you want.
A developer API is available to those who wish to access prefixes and suffixes and use them within their own plugin. Click "Metadata" above.
That's basically what this is, just a lightweight plugin for quickly getting your prefixes and suffixes to work, however you want.
Read the Configuration page for instructions on how to use the plugin.
Features:
- Uses permissions to apply prefixes and suffixes to selected users or groups.
- Alternatively, can use prefixes and suffixes from plugins supported by Vault.
- Formatting/color codes are fully supported.
- Configure the chat format to display however you want.
- Developer API for fetching prefixes and suffixes.
- Easy to use commands for adding / removing prefixes in game.
- Set prefixes and suffixes per group or per user.
- Plays nicely with Essentials /nick command.
- Option to allow multiple prefixes / suffixes, and a configurable separator which is placed between them to separate them.
- A prefix or suffix tier system (so that you can make multiple ranking ladders).
- UUID support
- Offline mode server support (using usernames instead of UUIDs)
- Factions chat tags support (read our Configuration page)
Installation:
- Place Simple Prefix.jar into your plugins folder
- Restart or reload your server
- Edit your config.yml (see here for info)
Please carefully read the Configuration page!

"You're the best! Prior to simplePrefix I spent weeks looking for something that would do prefixes by permissions, and now that I find it, I get functionality AND quick support, as well as new features implemented! <3" - octoshrimpy
"Epic plugin!" - Bammerbom

As of version 2.3.1, this plugin uses an automatic updater to check if you are running the latest version, and if not, it downloads the latest version. To disable this please set "Auto-Update" to "false" in the config.yml file.
Don't forget to automatically reload a players prefix on world change! I hate having to /spr reload every time when my players change from worlds where they have a different prefix. Just a reminder. xD
Grr...needs...to...be...updated
@MCCrystalClear
Its bugged and it is not yet 1.0.0 it dose that on my server my admins are the regulars.
Hello My name is Dylan. I am currently starting a sever and I am hiring staff. I got this plugin and I was so excited! I got it working for the Mod bukkitpermissions group. But... I have not yet finished completely with the file so I want my Moderators to be OP. This plugin is being weird and just makes my Mods grey when it should say [Mod] in a &3color and then their name in &6. How can I fix this?
Could you make this plugin not override nicknames from essentials and the like?
Thanks
What changes did you make? Can you add Worlds??
Thanks.
@gamesketch
Also, can you change it so that OP's do not get any prefix? cause i got diffrent types of admins who have OP too, but they always get the top group prefix...
When doing a /reload the plugin does not load correctly until i do /spr reload.
Love it so far, please update soon :D
Great plugin. But it has problems with HeroChat. I disable HeroChat and it works good.
Can you add an Auto update like your /spr reload. once people buy there rank, they would have to log out and back in to see it or, i would have to run /spr reload..
Also, Can you add a World info. [worldName][Admin][PlayerName]. or even add stuff like herochat.
Thanks Great and simple plugin.
when someone joins they are all mark as a admin but clearly they are not a admin do you k how to fix this.
@bearbear12345
How?
o nvm got it
srry posting soo many times, but how do I change the colour of the name itself
like [Admins] bearbear12345: hi as bearbear12345 being red or such?
wait a sec
nvm, I found out how :)
oops srry failed at typing
here I go again
My friend asked if it is possible to remove the <> marks. Is this possible? eg. [Admin] bearbear12345 not <[Admin] bearbear12345> or [Admin] <bearbear12345>
just plain with no <> marks. Is this possible? (or has it already been done?)
My friend asked if it is possible to remive the <> marks.
Is this possible?
eg. [Admin] bearbear12345:
not <[Admin] bearbear12345> or [Admin] <bearbear12345> just ain with no <> marks
Is this possible? (or has it already been done?)
plz help
I Use zPermissions, and it only Attaches the Pre and Suffixes to Players after Reloading the Plugin. :/
@tomtomnav
So even with the updated version, removing timestamp screws it up? Y U NO WORK STOOPID THING!!! I have no idea why or how people are getting this issue. I never had or could reproduce the timestamp issue, and you say even in the new version removing the timestamp screws it up?
@Flabaliki
I can't remove the timestamp without the plugin mysteriously stopping... Other than that it all seems good, thanks
@VietCookie
I just had a bit of time to do it. I've removed the timestamp and updated it to the latest bukkit build. I've never had the time stamp issue where it breaks the plugin so I have no idea if this fixed the issue, hopefully you can tell me, thanks.
