Simple Prefix: Allows you to easily manage your chat with prefixes and suffixes.
This plugin uses prefixes and suffixes that are very easy to configure, from inside of an yml config file. You apply prefixes and suffixes per user or group in the /SimplePrefix/config.yml file.
Alternatively, Simple Prefix can be configured to get the prefixes and suffixes from Vault supported chat plugins instead (PermissionsEx, bPermissions, etc.)
You can fully alter the chat format. For example, you could achieve the following ingame:
- [Admin] Flabaliki: my message here
Or even, just completely mix and match the template to get the look you want.
A developer API is available to those who wish to access prefixes and suffixes and use them within their own plugin. Click "Metadata" above.
That's basically what this is, just a lightweight plugin for quickly getting your prefixes and suffixes to work, however you want.
Read the Configuration page for instructions on how to use the plugin.
Features:
- Uses permissions to apply prefixes and suffixes to selected users or groups.
- Alternatively, can use prefixes and suffixes from plugins supported by Vault.
- Formatting/color codes are fully supported.
- Configure the chat format to display however you want.
- Developer API for fetching prefixes and suffixes.
- Easy to use commands for adding / removing prefixes in game.
- Set prefixes and suffixes per group or per user.
- Plays nicely with Essentials /nick command.
- Option to allow multiple prefixes / suffixes, and a configurable separator which is placed between them to separate them.
- A prefix or suffix tier system (so that you can make multiple ranking ladders).

- Offline mode server support (using usernames instead of UUIDs)

What people say about Simple Prefix:
"This was exactly what I was looking for! Simple and straight forward to use ... I think it took me about 5 minutes after reading over the directions to get it setup...and my users were instantly thankful and excited about their cool new fancy prefixes. Thanks for your efforts!" - GrumblyOldBear
"You're the best! Prior to simplePrefix I spent weeks looking for something that would do prefixes by permissions, and now that I find it, I get functionality AND quick support, as well as new features implemented! <3" - octoshrimpy
"Epic plugin!" - Bammerbom
"Great plugin! :)" - ThisUsernameIsMine
"oh thank god youre updating this...i love the concept of multiple prefixes. its what ive been looking for for a LOOONNNGGG time. im so glad i found this one and itd be awesome to have it updated" - SatansDaughter66 (Written when the 2.3 update was announced)
"Been using this for quite some time, and it's always served our needs well... Thanks for making an awesome plugin! - Islid
As of version 2.3.1, this plugin uses an automatic updater to check if you are running the latest version, and if not, it downloads the latest version. To disable this please set "Auto-Update" to "false" in the config.yml file.
One more thing. Can the brackets be removed?
@javoris767
Yes.
This supports giving individuals their own prefixes right?
Would you be able to add a feature where you can enable local chat and you would use /shout to shout in the global chat? Unfortunately I don't think this plugin is compatiable with any other plugins that have this feature.
@snowy007 I've uploaded v1.4.6 which has fixed the console command issue. It just has to be approved by Bukkit first.
@Gingerninjaperson
What permissions plugin are you using?
@Zusphia
Remove [world] from the format
How do I get the "world" part out of my name?
Ahhh! ======My permission nodes arn't working. I tried to set it in-game, and they just don't show up. I have no clue why, here is my config.
Here is my permissions.
Someone help!
@snowy007
Yes, I know that. I actually forgot to fix that in 1.4.5, I'll fix that soon :)
The commands don't seem to be working through the console any more. It keeps telling me "[INFO] /spr help"
Just thought i'd let you know.
Edit: Just noticed a new version. The problem above is with v1.4 haven't tried v1.4.5 yet.
Good plugin, but i really miss a (up2date) plugin that support colored names @ TAB list :(
Thank you so much!
Why does bukkit have to be so slow approving an awesome update :(
@cuddyier
I've never used essentials. But I'll install it and see if I can make Simple Prefix play nice with it.
EDIT: Simple Prefix will now acknowledge if you have Essentials, and allow the use of /nick. It's v1.4.5, it has to be approved by Bukkit first, so may take a little while to pop up.
Would it be possible for you then to add name changing or at least allow essentials to use /nick.
@cuddyier
Just set the suffix to &f so the text they type is white again.
I don't want all the text they type to be the same colour as their name though as sometimes it is annoying seeing the chat in the same colour as your name. The ability to actually change a players name would be good as all the other plugins with this feature conflict e.g. Essentials.
@JayHadley
I'm not entirely sure what you mean, could you post a ticket with more information.
@cuddyier
Just put the colour code at the end of the prefix. That will colour the users name.
Is there anyway you can allow us to colour someones name with a command, if not could you add it? E.g. /name {player name} {colour}. This would be very useful.
hello I just in stall this and its not working I'm using a mac all won't to is to set people to admin or mod I have the super perm plugin ?
