SimplePrefix

Simple Prefix: Allows you to easily manage your chat with prefixes and suffixes.
This plugin uses prefixes and suffixes that are very easy to configure, from inside of an yml config file. You apply prefixes and suffixes per user or group in the /SimplePrefix/config.yml file.
Alternatively, Simple Prefix can be configured to get the prefixes and suffixes from Vault supported chat plugins instead (PermissionsEx, bPermissions, etc.)
You can fully alter the chat format. For example, you could achieve the following ingame:
- [Admin] Flabaliki: my message here
Or even, just completely mix and match the template to get the look you want.
A developer API is available to those who wish to access prefixes and suffixes and use them within their own plugin. Click "Metadata" above.
That's basically what this is, just a lightweight plugin for quickly getting your prefixes and suffixes to work, however you want.
Read the Configuration page for instructions on how to use the plugin.
Features:
- Uses permissions to apply prefixes and suffixes to selected users or groups.
- Alternatively, can use prefixes and suffixes from plugins supported by Vault.
- Formatting/color codes are fully supported.
- Configure the chat format to display however you want.
- Developer API for fetching prefixes and suffixes.
- Easy to use commands for adding / removing prefixes in game.
- Set prefixes and suffixes per group or per user.
- Plays nicely with Essentials /nick command.
- Option to allow multiple prefixes / suffixes, and a configurable separator which is placed between them to separate them.
- A prefix or suffix tier system (so that you can make multiple ranking ladders).
- UUID support
- Offline mode server support (using usernames instead of UUIDs)
- Factions chat tags support (read our Configuration page)
Installation:
- Place Simple Prefix.jar into your plugins folder
- Restart or reload your server
- Edit your config.yml (see here for info)
Please carefully read the Configuration page!

As of version 2.3.1, this plugin uses an automatic updater to check if you are running the latest version, and if not, it downloads the latest version. To disable this please set "Auto-Update" to "false" in the config.yml file.
Did the timestamp option get remove yet? Just wondering.
I am currently using simple prefix on a CB 1337 and it has not give me any errors at all. Very good plugin very simple, yet i feel gives the best outcome.
Your download link for 1.1 is incorrect. when plug in loads, it shows 1.0.1 . Does 1.1 work with 1317?
@Kekler
Press Tab ingame? Why do you need a command to see the players?
@Flabaliki
We love the plugin! But we have a little issue! When we do the list command it shows all the prefixes, any fix?
Thanks a lot , this is a way simpler and cooler than iChat . I love your plugin ;)
@frozeny95
Use this format '<[prefix][name][suffix]>' Then set prefix as the color you want, eg '&e' then set the suffix as white '&f'
I want my name colored in any colour. I just used that config '<[prefix][name]>' but this is the result
<randomqc>MESSAGE randomqc>message is all colored but not the first <
I only want the part with randomqc :( Help me thanks
@Flabaliki
Sorry I got nothing else. Dx I think you should just remove the timestamp option.
@VietCookie @add1ct3dd I think I'll just remove the time stamp option, I don't think it's used by the majority of people. I really don't know what's wrong with it. It works perfectly fine for me when I remove it on both my home server and my remote servers. Really odd. Any more details you can possible provide that will help me figure it out?
@add1ct3dd
I'm having the same problem, the plugin stops working when removing timestamp from the format.
@Flabaliki
ok cool :) i gave mChat ago but it's so ridiculously complicated for such a simple thing I'm waiting for yours to be fixed :)
@add1ct3dd
Yeah, a lot of people are having that issue for some reason. It's odd. I'm trying to fix it.
I'm not sure what's broken mine, but i updated my groups and it's just stopped working!
Here's my config:
They seem fine, and all of the relevant groups in PermissionsBukkit have the correct simpleprefix.<group>: true enabled :(
Edit: Ok so after playing around it would seem that the plugin stops working when you remove the timestamp from the formatting, please update to fix :(
@treerainsun
If you're using PermissionsBukkit it should be: - simpleprefix.Tech-Admin: true
I believe.
I am using permissionsbukkit and SimplePrefix And It Keeps Saying
Permissions node is incorrect or treerainsun doesn't have a node.

And This Is My PermissionsBukkit
when i load the server this comes up
18:27:39 [INFO] [Simple Prefix v1.0.1] Configuration Loaded. 18:27:39 [INFO] 3 18:27:39 [INFO] [Simple Prefix v1.0.1] Permissions node is incorrect or Slayergold3 doesn't have a node. 18:27:39 [INFO] [Simple Prefix v1.0.1] Plugin enabled!
help and whenever i type a command it says /spr help for anything related to the plugin
@CosmicBreak
I have not. It shouldn't cause any server stopping errors, but they will probably have a bit of a conflict if they are both altering chat messages.
i know some plugins like towny dont work with some plugins that control prefixes. have you tested to see if it works with towny?
