SignThatBlock
SignThatBlock
SignThatBlock is a plugin for bukkit which allows signs to be placed on any block defined in the config.
Simply by adding a sign within a 1 block radius of the target block and right clicking it, the sign will be placed onto the block you have defined in the config.
Why this plugin?
The reason I made this plugin is because plugins like SignThatChest are discontinued, or don't work any more on the newer CraftBukkits.
Also this plugin will make it easier to add other blocks to put signs on.
Installation
It is easy!! Just drop it in the plugins folder and the default blocks are signable.
If you want other blocks just add them in the config.
Config
In the config you can configure the blocks you want to have this feature.
The default ones are:
Quote:
- Chest (54)
- Dispenser (23)
- Noteblock (25)
- Brewing stand (117)
- Bed (26)
- Cauldron (118)
- Enchantment Table (116)
- Jukebox (84)
- Furnace (61,62)
- Crafting Table (58)
Permissions

@Feaelin
While it might say chests in the change log, you can actually put stuff on any block now, example would be putting a torch on a furnace. Anything you normally click and it opens or activates, you can place other blocks/items on, by holding shift.
@Feaelin: Ah. In 1.4.6, "signs can now be placed on chests by sneaking". I wonder if there any blocks at this point that SignThatBlock supports that "vanilla" Minecraft doesn't, in that case. I admit, chests is the block I was concerned about...
@Chaznuts: Which release includes the feature, Chaznuts?
So I guess this plugin isn't necessary for updated servers anymore.. Shift-placing allows this to be done by default now and also works with levers/buttons etc. Thanks for the plugin while it lasted! :)
@mythicpencil
Actually, the error should occur on any CraftBukkit after 1.4.5-R1.0. They changed the meaning of BlockFace.NORTH (and the others) and so the plugin is setting the wrong data values for the sign facing.
I've submitted the necessary code changes to make it work to rodeyeseijkens just a few minutes ago.
The plugin doesn't seem to attach signs properly in 1.4.6, they go on perpendicular to the block.
@THESOMEPRODIGY
Put the sign in front of the block you want to attach it too. Then rightclick it when you done typing.
how to but a sign on a chest???????????????????????
can you add a toggleable mode, because i have some especial signs near chests, etc and i need to click them to execute commands so these plugin break the setup thanks good plugin, so useful
Thank you very much rodeyseijkens! I went looking for it when the kids got tired of playing the weekly releases, and couldn't find it to reload the server. My hero!
@ThoLav
Yes I'm dutch ;) I'll have a look at it, it can be fixed. Don't know when I have the time to update it, because I'm currently busy with other mayor things (think DoTA Mincraft :P)
Hi rodeyseijkens (dutch? ),
I found an error, have a look:
@ThoLav Thank you :)
@Random3oc Did you add the permission signthatblock.attach?
Cannot put sign on the chest
Hi,
you did a great job.
I love your plugin!
@carlosjj
Oh I'm on it!
EDIT:
Version 1.1 is uploaded!
Version 1.1 (20/4/2012)
Hmmm, i tested the first version: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/signthatblock/files/1-sign-that-block-v1-0/ but when i right click the sign, the sign will be put on the block without any text...
@ThoLav @paradocsic1982
Permissions are not yet in the first release, but I will implement it. I will add configurable text support :) Glass isn't in the default list but you could add every block there is in the game so it is possible :)
@dockter The plugin is finished but it is still under review... Kinda lame because it takes more than 13 hours now...
I would appreciate to make help and messages configurable, so that everyone could easily translate into his language. I'm native german and I would provide german translation, if you're interessed in.
Wow that is so cool puting sign on glass and it will look cool on bed as short site ended bed.
