Shopkeepers
Set up custom villager shopkeepers that sell exactly what you want them to sell and for what price. You can set up admin shops, which have infinite supply, and you can also set up player shops, which pull supply from a chest.
It will also prevent any other trades with non-shopkeeper villagers, if you want it to.
For those who are simply looking for a convenient way to modify the trades of vanilla villagers (as an alternative to using complex Minecraft commands), the plugin also includes a graphical editor for regular villagers and wandering traders.
Basic Features
- Easily create villager shopkeepers that trade the items you want them to trade.
- Admins shops with infinite supplies.
- Player shops which pull supplies from a chest.
- Different types of player shops: selling, buying, trading, and selling books.
- Various supported mob types to represent your shopkeeper, sign shops, and Citizens (NPC) shops.
- Editor for regular villagers and wandering traders.
- Many configuration options.
- Translatable messages.
- Open source (Source code on GitHub)
Supported server versions
Shopkeepers supports the latest versions of Bukkit / Spigot.
Note that this plugin is created to work with CraftBukkit (or alternatively Spigot). Bukkit does not have an API for some of the things necessary to make this plugin work. This means that other server software (Tekkit, Forge, Cauldron, etc.) will not work with this plugin.
Other CraftBukkit or Spigot derivatives/forks might work, but are not officially supported. So if you run into issues while using those, try to reproduce your issue on a fresh and up-to-date Spigot server first.

Statistics
This plugin uses bStats to collect anonymous plugin usage statistics. This helps me to determine how many servers are using the plugin, which Minecraft versions it is used with the most, and to which degree the different features are used.
Here is a list of all currently tracked information:
- Common information: The number of servers using the plugin, the number of players on these servers, online mode, Minecraft version, plugin version, core count, system arch, operating system, server country, Java version.
- Shopkeepers specific information: Whether specific related plugins are used (Citizens, Towny, WorldGuard, Gringotts, other Vault economy plugins), number of shops, whether player shops are used, whether certain features are enabled in the config (ex. WorldGuard/Towny compatibility, Citizens shops, delayed saves, colored names, chest protection, removal of inactive shops, tax rate, strict item comparison, purchase logging, disabling of other villagers, ..), the number of worlds containing shops.
- All information can be publicly viewed here: https://bstats.org/plugin/bukkit/Shopkeepers/
If you want to disable bStats for all plugins on your server, edit the file plugins/bStats/config.yml, or alternatively disable it only for Shopkeepers by setting 'enable-metrics' to 'false' inside the Shopkeepers config.
Known potential issues

Want to help?
The less I have to do myself, the more time I have to write plugins. Therefore I am looking for someone who would be willing to get involved in the project. That could for example mean:
- Keeping the documentation (the wiki) up-to-date with plugin updates.
- Improving the existing documentation.
- Creating and maintaining translations.
- Help managing issues and answering questions of users.
If you are a programmer with experience in writing bukkit plugins, or have ideas on how you can contribute to the project beyond that, let me know as well! If you are interested, feel free to contact me via PM.
Beyond that, everybody is invited to help others with issues and questions in the issue tracker, comment section, and the discord channel! Also consider contributing translations!
Third-Party Add-On Plugins
Sometimes a feature is either to specific to include it directly into the Shopkeepers plugin, or I did not yet have the time to add something similar myself. The plugins listed here extend the functionality of the Shopkeepers plugin.
These plugins are maintained by other community members. If you run into issues while using any of these add-ons, try to first reproduce your problem without any add-ons before you report it.
ShopkeepersNavAddon(abandoned): Adds inventory-based GUIs that allow you to browse all player shops, all admin shops, and to find shops that trade a specific type of item. You can teleport to a particular shopkeeper by clicking a button inside the GUI.
This plugin also integrates support for trading with Vault-based currency, but does so by replacing Shopkeepers' normal trade handling.
If you have also written an add-on plugin and want it listed here, let me know!
Yeah Same Problem Here Wtf?! I Cant Acces The Villagers WTF?! :(
@Kzkas
Having the same problem.
Doesn't work for me :/ It works for some time after that you can't interact with shopkeepers :/
its working fine for me now but.. the only thing thats annoying is its spawning the npcs of the shops. all over the place and i dont see a error..
Just feedback - your 2.9 Test Version causes massive Memory Leak after... 10 minutes or so on our server.
Went back to normal once i onloaded it.
No errors in console
The 2.9 test version has been updated for 1.4.4.
@PhanaticD
You'd have to remove the other permissions if you don't want players using those shop types.
Please update to 1.4.4 <3 !!!!!
Thanks for the great plugin so far, Not working with 1.4.4 Error in console is 18:31:20 CONSOLE: [SEVERE] Could not pass event PlayerInteractEntityEvent to Shopkeepers v1.9 18:31:20 CONSOLE: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: net.minecraft.server.EntityVillager.c(Lnet/minecraft/server/EntityHuman;)Z
Not working with @bukkit 1.4.4
@BEQOsNtDi6xRDGzqIAT7
yeah hope theres a fix soon hehe =) my server just Blow up with Pop!
@DeadDragons
Nope. Shops can be set up and configured, but actually right clicking to initiate a trade does not work. The trade window doesn't pop up.
can enyone get the shop to work for 1.4.4-R0.1 ?
@nisovin
sorry if I am missing something but how in the world do i make it so players can only make trade villagers then? i give them shopkeeper.player.trade but they still are able to only make the emerald type shopkeepers
@nisovin Thanks for the reply!
Oh ok I see what you mean about only having 2 slots.
Would it be possible to setup more currency items.. But as you cycle the cost up it 'hides' the lowest value currency. So only 2 would be used at any one time.
So with our 10 Nuggets = 1 Emerald, 10 Emerald = 1 Diamond setup. At first nuggets would cycle up to 10, then become emeralds and nuggets. Once the cost cycles up and becomes 1 diamond and 1 emerald, the nuggets wouldn't be a part of the cost.
I hope that was understandable.. Its a bit hard to explain.
@BoomerBR
The plugin scans through the active shopkeepers, looking for ones it needs to fix, about once every 10 seconds. This has not changed between versions.
@PhanaticD
This already exists, they're called "trading" shopkeepers.
@MikeC2103
There are only two currency slots, so having three currencies isn't really possible. It's also not really possible to sell items for free. If you want to give a player a book upon joining the server, I believe there are plugins for that already. You could also sell them for one dirt or something.
@CubeNation
Shopkeepers should not be able to breed, since their AI is stripped. This is likely caused by shopkeepers somehow getting reset, which I have never figured out, and then wandering away. The plugin then sees it's missing and replaces it with a new one.
@Max_Coffeebreath
A properly set up currency will not have any problematic inflation. What you've said doesn't make sense. If different items maintain their relative value between each other, then they should maintain their relative value with the currency as well. The currency is just a way to enable trade and make it easier, it doesn't affect the relative values of items.
I actually wrote an article about how to maintain a good economy, there's a link to it in the FAQ. One of the key elements to a good economy is to have something for players to spend their excess money on, which prevents inflation.
That said, this feature already exists, they're called "trading" shopkeepers.
I'd like to post a request for a future update. Could you make the player shopkeeper simply trade items rather than require a 'currency object'? Have it work like the admin shopkeeper except that the player needs both the item that they are selling and the item(s) that they want in the chest. Use the chest for storage and if the chest is full in that slot remove the item from the list until the slot is cleared.
The reason that I ask for this is that any type of 'currency' ends, invariably, in mudflation. Bartering, however, does not care about how many coins, stars, emeralds, whatever, the other person has but rather on the relative value of two items. That relative value does not fluctuate very much. So, new player will be able to get a saddle for apx the same price as a veteran player. Sure both saddles, and let's say diamonds, are both more abundant in the more matured world but a saddle is still worth around 4-6 diamonds because the relative effort to obtain each has not changed.
Anyway, please consider it. I would really love to have a system of straight barter.
Thanks.
We just had another "free" villager with version 1.9 walking around in our trading world - which only should have shopkeepers actually for testing.
May it be the villager "breeding" which seems to be finally active again with bukkit 1.4? (We've seen some villagers breeding even in some room without any window or door these days on another world)
@BoomerBR
How do you even respawn lost villagers? A bunch of mine dissapeared, and that would be super handy to use.
Information on commands seems to be a bit lacking, unless im just blind.
Great Plugin! Its quickly changing how the economy works on our server. I have a couple suggestions. :D

@aledrobt
I also would very much like this feature, the ability for players to create admin style trade item for item shops instead of for emeralds :)
