Shopkeepers
Set up custom villager shopkeepers that sell exactly what you want them to sell and for what price. You can set up admin shops, which have infinite supply, and you can also set up player shops, which pull supply from a chest.
It will also prevent any other trades with non-shopkeeper villagers, if you want it to.
For those who are simply looking for a convenient way to modify the trades of vanilla villagers (as an alternative to using complex Minecraft commands), the plugin also includes a graphical editor for regular villagers and wandering traders.
Basic Features
- Easily create villager shopkeepers that trade the items you want them to trade.
- Admins shops with infinite supplies.
- Player shops which pull supplies from a chest.
- Different types of player shops: selling, buying, trading, and selling books.
- Various supported mob types to represent your shopkeeper, sign shops, and Citizens (NPC) shops.
- Editor for regular villagers and wandering traders.
- Many configuration options.
- Translatable messages.
- Open source (Source code on GitHub)
Supported server versions
Shopkeepers supports the latest versions of Bukkit / Spigot.
Note that this plugin is created to work with CraftBukkit (or alternatively Spigot). Bukkit does not have an API for some of the things necessary to make this plugin work. This means that other server software (Tekkit, Forge, Cauldron, etc.) will not work with this plugin.
Other CraftBukkit or Spigot derivatives/forks might work, but are not officially supported. So if you run into issues while using those, try to reproduce your issue on a fresh and up-to-date Spigot server first.

Statistics
This plugin uses bStats to collect anonymous plugin usage statistics. This helps me to determine how many servers are using the plugin, which Minecraft versions it is used with the most, and to which degree the different features are used.
Here is a list of all currently tracked information:
- Common information: The number of servers using the plugin, the number of players on these servers, online mode, Minecraft version, plugin version, core count, system arch, operating system, server country, Java version.
- Shopkeepers specific information: Whether specific related plugins are used (Citizens, Towny, WorldGuard, Gringotts, other Vault economy plugins), number of shops, whether player shops are used, whether certain features are enabled in the config (ex. WorldGuard/Towny compatibility, Citizens shops, delayed saves, colored names, chest protection, removal of inactive shops, tax rate, strict item comparison, purchase logging, disabling of other villagers, ..), the number of worlds containing shops.
- All information can be publicly viewed here: https://bstats.org/plugin/bukkit/Shopkeepers/
If you want to disable bStats for all plugins on your server, edit the file plugins/bStats/config.yml, or alternatively disable it only for Shopkeepers by setting 'enable-metrics' to 'false' inside the Shopkeepers config.

Want to help?
The less I have to do myself, the more time I have to write plugins. Therefore I am looking for someone who would be willing to get involved in the project. That could for example mean:
- Keeping the documentation (the wiki) up-to-date with plugin updates.
- Improving the existing documentation.
- Creating and maintaining translations.
- Help managing issues and answering questions of users.
If you are a programmer with experience in writing bukkit plugins, or have ideas on how you can contribute to the project beyond that, let me know as well! If you are interested, feel free to contact me via PM.
Beyond that, everybody is invited to help others with issues and questions in the issue tracker, comment section, and the discord channel! Also consider contributing translations!
Third-Party Add-On Plugins
Sometimes a feature is either to specific to include it directly into the Shopkeepers plugin, or I did not yet have the time to add something similar myself. The plugins listed here extend the functionality of the Shopkeepers plugin.
These plugins are maintained by other community members. If you run into issues while using any of these add-ons, try to first reproduce your problem without any add-ons before you report it.
ShopkeepersNavAddon(abandoned): Adds inventory-based GUIs that allow you to browse all player shops, all admin shops, and to find shops that trade a specific type of item. You can teleport to a particular shopkeeper by clicking a button inside the GUI.
This plugin also integrates support for trading with Vault-based currency, but does so by replacing Shopkeepers' normal trade handling.
If you have also written an add-on plugin and want it listed here, let me know!
I, also, am having issues with duplicate merchants, disappearing merchants, and merchants losing their inventory. I'm running minecraft 1.3.1 with it's latest Craftbukkit companion. I really like this plugin but I can't ignore the bugs unfortunately. I have the following mods:
BrokeLog.jar
Essentials.jar
EssentialsChat.jar
EssentialsGroupBridge.jar
EssentialsGroupManager.jar
EssentialsSpawn.jar
JumpPorts2.jar
ProtectionStones.jar
Shopkeepers.jar
Vault.jar
WorldEdit.jar
WorldGuard.jar
EDIT
I haven't tested it but my duplicates may have been caused trying to create a shopkeeper while I still had deny-spawn enabled.
Careful of using this plugin with MobCatcher, they are not compatible.
MobCatcher causes 2 issues.
1, you cannot choose the color of the egg for normal user shopkeepers since MobCatcher forces you to throw the egg.
2, Villager eggs are infinite if placed by right clicking the floor while both plugins are enabled. Not sure what is happening there, but MobCatcher is 100% the culprit.
I have already reported this to the MobCatcher devs.
Strange issue, even efter deleting everything. some shopkeepers dont keep there item data on /shopkeeper reload or a restart!
What exactly are these restrictions for?
enable-world-guard-restrictions: false
Thanks!
Guys: Awesome Job you did there! I was wondering "Could I change that?" and bam, there's an option for that! Congratulations and approvement from the Kaleydra.de team! :)
@datwerd86
Craftbukkit version? Shopkeepers version? Can I get a list of your plugins please?
im still getting the problem of shopkeepers just disappearing or turning back into standard villagers and walking off
i have to keep reloading the shopkeepers every few hours to keep them ingame :/
Nisovin, there seems to be a pretty serious problem with 1.6 and NBT data... I opened ticket #28 with details.
Thanks for your efforts!!
@ThaSourceGaming
Hm, make a small subarea around shopkeeper with mob-spawn allow. Have not tried, but should work.
Yeah... if i block mob spawning with WorldGuard then my shopkeepers dont spawn. Anyway to bypass that? so i can have WorldGuard mob spawning protection while having shopkeepers.
Not a real bug but .. If you block mobspawning via worldguard in a region with a shopkeeper, you get this error:
[WARNING] [Shopkeepers] Task #10 for Shopkeepers v1.6 generated an exception java.util.ConcurrentModificationException at java.util.HashMap$HashIterator.nextEntry(Unknown Source) at java.util.HashMap$ValueIterator.next(Unknown Source) at com.nisovin.shopkeepers.ShopkeepersPlugin$1.run(ShopkeepersPlugin.java:108) at org.bukkit.craftbukkit.scheduler.CraftTask.run(CraftTask.java:52) at org.bukkit.craftbukkit.scheduler.CraftScheduler.mainThreadHeartbeat(CraftScheduler.java:316) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.q(MinecraftServer.java:510) at net.minecraft.server.DedicatedServer.q(DedicatedServer.java:213) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.p(MinecraftServer.java:474) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.run(MinecraftServer.java:406) at net.minecraft.server.ThreadServerApplication.run(SourceFile:539)
PS: Yes i know it's silly to block mobspawning because a shopkeeper is a mob ;-)
In 1.6, zombies don't seem to be interested in villagers at all anymore, regardless if they're shopkeepers or not.
@nisovin
If it is the same as in the link Upcoming changes: Version 1.6 above. All seems to work right, no problems or duplication issue so far.
@nisovin
After re-downloading it works great so far!
Only some little issues: - http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/shopkeepers/tickets/25-wrong-money-calculation-on-max-amount/ - and we were not able to use those trading/book shopkeepers yet - we're using the command only, no spawn egg. I've seen your code seems to switch them only by spawn egg?!
I need some people to test version 1.6. If you're interested, read the changes above and use this link:
http://nisovin.com/shopkeepers/Shopkeepers.jar
very nice plugin! love it.
here is a little feature request: might it be possible to give admin shop npc names? that would be really nice.
@MathiasVerden
That's not helpful. Explain further?
@ChrisMcD
No, shopkeepers must remain stationary.
@FlashIT
Try downloading it again.
With the version 1.6 users are not longer able to create shopkeepers :-( We've added the new permission and the user gets "Shopkeeper created" but still theres no shopkeeper and no data in the save.yml.
Any idea?
Hi nisovin,
regarding the duplication error here something which may be important. It seems as if there is a "bug" in the world part. I copied a world map to another name with completely different rights. I assumed all Shopkeepers would be restricted to the original world. But all of a sudden i saw a shopkeeper in the new world trading the same items as his pendant in the original world. Surprisingly he was not at the exact same place but a few blocks away (less than 10 Blocks) but heading to the right place, which he could not reach because the way was blocked. He is there all the time not wandering around. This only happens to some but not to all Shopkeepers. Some are in both world and some not. As i use different professions for Shopkeepers, maybe this could be the link why they appear? I also have the impression, that in the original world Shopkeepers with different professions appear differently, some are already there when i warp to them, others appear a few seconds later.
Is there a way that in the config I can define that the villagers I create can move around?
