SerialKey
This plugin allows you to lock your doors with a craftable key. It has a master key too.

How to use it ?
Left click on a door with an empty key in your hand will create a padlock on the door and will format the key. You can open, close or destroy the door only if you have the corresponding key in your hand. Also works for chests and trapdoors.

Services included in the plugin
This plugin uses the Skyupdater, which means that the following may occur :
- Connection to curseforge.com.
- Plugin version compared against version on curseforge.com.
- Downloading of the plugin from curseforge.com if a new version is found.
This plugin utilizes bStats plugin metrics system, which means that the following information is collected and sent to bstats.org :
- A unique identifier.
- The server's version of Java.
- Whether the server is in offline or online mode.
- The plugin's version.
- The server's version.
- The OS version/name and architecture.
- The core count for the CPU.
- The number of players online.
- The Metrics version.

Hey Skyhost, I understand that you're not paid. What I am saying is that you have created an awesome plugin that can go a long way. It would be great for an update to fix the crafting recipe for the master key as it can get very annoying always using the command to get the key for each door. I hope someday we receive an update and that someday you get paid so you can keep making awesome plugins!! Also I hope you get some more motivation too besides being paid to update it.

You may NEED an update soon but I am NOT PAID to update this plugin. I am not paid to develop plugins.

We NEED an update soon The Master key or whatever it is called does not work. You cannot create in the crafting table therefore its impossible to get it. it would be very handy if it worked cause for my server we have a lot of locked doors and admins need access without using the command to get the key .
Maybe an update tomorrow guys ;)

Ah this plugin was almost exactly what I was looking for! But it has many problems-
1)The locked doors do not persist between server restarts. after server restarts all doors are unlocked again. This was a deal breaker for me and I do not know how to fix it.
2) The keys stop working if you add more lines of lore to them. This makes it difficult to use in an RPG style setup. I fixed this for myself with your source code from Github.
3) It does not work for 1.8 doors.
I will need to find another plugin that does these things. Hopefully you will find time to update this plugin. It also seems like you have abandoned this project. Good luck with your projects.
Also a master key would be wonderful, as I am making an adventure map and it get rather tedious while I am making it to go through my doors and shuffle through all my keys only to realize I don't have my duplicate on me anymore anyway.
I like this plugin, almost perfect for what I want as is keys, but one caveat, the locks I put in don't seem to be persistent between server restarts.
Man its been a long time... Could at least get a response right?
I love this plugin. But it doesn't works on the new doors from 1.8 and I wonder if there will be an option that allow an user to rename a key (to remember what door the key unlock).
I want to know another thing too.
I wanted to create a kind of an hotel where we have to buy the key to have a room. When an user as two keys for the same door, destroying the lock on the door "reset" the two keys the users has (they become simple keys). But if two players has a key for the same door, if one of the user destroys the door, the second player still has a key that can open the door (because the key open the door at the exact coordinates). Adding a new lock at the door still allow that second player to use its key to unlock the door. So if I wanted to "reset" the keys owned by players, so they must buy an other key to pass another night in the room they choosed, I can't. So maybe can you add an option to reset and/or destroy all the keys with specifics coordinates with a /command ?

Is there a way to change the default key to an item from a mod? I do know how to change the key to another object; however, since minecraft does not technically use keys, I'd like to use one from a mod.

Hey just like to add a headsup that placing a hopper under a locked chest will siphon the items out of the locked chest, Personally I have no issue with this though it may become an issue for others.
though if you do change this make sure to have an option for that too XD Everything configurable is the way to go.
I can see this plugin turning into one of the top minecraft lock plugins.

Its a nice idea dart but it would be a large waste for factions to go to war and loose all the chests reward spoils in the process as well as for players to loose access to their chests and have to destroy their items if they die in wilderness without their keys and not have backups... perhaps have that part configurable as well for those that share your thoughts on that one.
is their a way to disable needing keys to break a chest for the plugin already? that sounded like it was on the mark.
I got this plugin to replace the factions protection for buttons doors chests ect...
I read "everything is configurable" in the features but I would like for the option of any player to be able to destroy a locked item without the use of a key, meaning chests in wilderness can be broken by anyone and chests in faction claim can only be broken by faction members.
I run a more hard core server and having this option would make a world of difference since /unclaim will put the once claimed chests in wilderness but now their cannot be looted regardless or destroyed if the new owners of a base wish to redecorate.
not to mentioned lost or destroyed keys will mean a chest cannot be ever opened without admin presence and this would break immersion on the server.
Please make a lockpick item with a 99% chance of success :)
