SalvageSmelter
SalvageSmelter
[ English | Français ]
SalvageSmelter allows you to smelt down tools and armor made of iron, gold or diamond into raw materials. the quantity of materials returned is dependent on the durability of the item being smelted, for example iron boots at 50% durability would return 2 Iron ingots. At 49% durability they would return 1 iron ingot. Gold tools can yield nuggets instead of ingots to allow for more accuracy in determining the value of an item, and any item not worth at least 1 of it's raw materials will produce a piece of charcoal.

Evaluation
SalvageSmelter 0.1.5 works on CraftBukkit 1.6.2-R1.0 with Java 1.7.0_25 (64-bit) on Windows 7 (64-bit) with PermissionsEX 1.20.2
No console errors seen during load, usage or shutdown.
Smelting of items undamaged and damaged produced the expected results.
Requests for Improvement
Please add a permission node such as "salvagesmelter.use" just like the Scribe plugin so those with permission can salvage but those without see no difference in how the furnace works.
Thanks,
LHammonds

How the heck do I get a sign on a furnace?
@Cattraknoff
Cattraknoff, can you explain what you need that can't be accomplished with the current options? there are plenty of permission related options available that should cover everything you might want to do.
I need permissions to be turned on or off for people if possible, thank you.
@ha11oga11o
glad to hear it! The bukkitdev rss feed must have had some issues that day when it checked for an update :)
@ha11oga11o
nope, it works OK for now,
cheers :)
@metalhedd
I must wait till restart, ill post if i see it again. Its important its nothing serioius :)
thanks for fast answer.
@ha11oga11o
I think that may have been a website problem with bukkitdev or something, I haven't uploaded a new release in nearly a week and it's version number IS entered correctly for the updater... do you still get the error message when you restart your server?
Hello,
i have this error :)
2013-09-04 08:08:05 [INFO] [SalvageSmelter] Enabling SalvageSmelter v0.1.5
CraftBukkit version git-Bukkit-1.6.2-R0.1-16-g0cc9860-b2863jnks (MC: 1.6.2)
Cheers :)

Personally I don't think permissions work very well for it, since you can't really control who uses a furnace thanks to hoppers, so when that option is configured, hoppers stop feeding those items into furnaces. That being said, the config I pasted should work fine, and it did on my test server, I just re-tested to be sure. can you pastebin what your config.yml looks like now?
@FlOppythp
Okay, it works, but I explained the configuration wrong... in order to use the permission groups, you need to keep the original recipes section. the recipe-groups are a string list, not a configsection. so it should look like this:
This worked for me. let me know
@FlOppythp
The permission groups feature was contributed by another user and I've never actually made use of it myself. I'll do some debugging and see if I can get it working right now.
@Gilmear01
You place the sign on the furnace (hold shift). the text should turn blue if it works.
hi! How do the signs work? i keep placing a [SALVAGE] sign above the furnace and the furnace just wont allow it to work, what format do the signs need to be in and where do you need to place them ? ive allowed signs only in the config too
Gilmear
@FlOppythp
This is all already possible. There's a configuration section called 'recipe-groups'. you can assign recipes like this:
Each of these groups requires the appropriate
salvagesmelter.group.<groupName>
node.(notice I listed GOLD_BARDING and IRON_BARDING even though they weren't previously in the config file... These are the horse armours, you can add whatever else you want :)
@uraen
They're called IRON_BARDING, GOLD_BARDING, and DIAMOND_BARDING
@metalhedd
any idea where the material name for horse armor might be located? i cant seem to find it on the materials page for bukkit plugins
@metalhedd
Thanks man, working like a charm :)
@stansey
Fixed in the latest dev build. I even tested it myself with your recipe.
Thanks for making the whole process painless with your debug output and clear explanations. doesn't happen often :D
