Residence
About
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.

I've been having problems for the last week of running Residence. It fails to load and gives me error about failing to load save file something about invalid character. Is there a way to fix it?? I have multiple worlds with lots of residence saves.
Using Bukkit 1.6.2 Beta build #2838 and Residence 2.6.6.6 and players are able to open any protected doors/chests if they have a bow in hand.
Edit: Just loaded a fresh bukkit build with only residence installed and the problem doesn't exist anymore. Must be some conflict with another plugin. I've tried using every other item but only the bows will open protected doors and chests.
Do the flags that stop players from doing things also stop Endermen or not? I'm making an Egypt-themed puzzle dungeon in a sphinx temple, and so there's lots of sand floors and sandstone walls. Players are prevented from digging out the sand and thereby exposing a lot of the redstone mechanisms hidden under the floors. But sand is one of the things that Endermen are normally allowed to take. If I allow monster spawns I'm a bit worried that Endermen might be allowed to steal sand blocks from the floor. I've already turned off creeper explosions so that players who cause creepers to spawn don't end up breaking the dungeon mechanisms, but I'm still worried about endermen. Ideally I'd like to enable monster spawning in the area so players have to deal with the dangers of dark rooms.
I'm trying to use PEX with Residence 2.6.6.6, but everyone has full access to all commands even before I added residence permissions.
Perhaps I'm doing something wrong?
Edit, nvm I'm retarded.

I will not be adding WorldGuard as a dependency for the main plugin, I don't wish to look into the WorldGuard API, we are different protection systems, neither should nor probably will have code interacting with eachother, however, using the Residence API and the WorldGuard API in conjunction, I am sure its possible for you to listen for ResidenceCreations, check if they overlap a worldguard region, and cancel them in that case, In other words, write an addon plugin to prevent overlaps, it will not be added into here.
@benbobster
The "trusted" flag actually already is a feature and will assign the basic flags needed to do stuff within a residence.
"Place" just allows placing blocks, "Build" is placing and breaking, and "Destroy" is breaking blocks.
"use" will encompass all of the more specific ones such as "pressure" or other things, unless one of them specifically denies it.
@ledship
I don't have a build that old, sorry.
@PavloosCz
Take a look at this example: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/residence/forum/49692-a-friends-ftb-custom-container-list-for-dire-wolf20/#p1
@MaliciousMan
no they can't, it will just create an overlapping claim. Meaning, if the player who created the residence has the build flag set as "false", then players who would have permission for the WG region would be unable to build.
Would it please be possible to add a flag that gives someone ALL permissions at once?
I would have figured 'admin' does this, but it only gives them permission to give permissions. But a person like that, you would think, should have access to place/destroy/container/use/pressure/etc. as well.
It just really confusing for new players and annoying for old players to keep having to type a ton of flags for every player.
'Trusted' would have been a good flag for this as well, except that it doesnt do the important ones. It doesnt give one 'place' nor 'destroy' nor 'pressure' etc...
So my suggestions would be to either make the admin or the trusted flag to have these settings, or make an 'all' or 'allperms' flag. That would really be beneficial to the usability of this plugin, I think.
Btw, what is the difference between build and place? I just know that build doesnt let you... build? :)
Thanks!
Im starting up a Minecraft Beta 1.3_01 server, Could you give me the download link for a 1.3_01 version of this plugin, It'd be greatly appreiated
@mrmag518
That IS a big issue, thanks for leaving this comment I was going to add this to my server, but if this is the case I most likely won't. Have you conducted any tests? Meaning can people build in WG protected land after they protected it with Residence?
What is sintax to add CustomContainers ??
that CustomContainers: [ID]
or that CustomContainers: -'ID' ?
Ok, now I post all things that I need so hard. I said them before but I think you forgot about them.
First at all, minimum size for residence. Second, it's good to can stop some events. For example, I don't need the "move" flag, so this event is usless for me. Next flag which I didnt use: BlockFromToEvent. I mean, I need to regulate the events alone, because they load my server unnecessarily. There are many flags that I have stopped but the events still works and load my server. I said that because the Residence plugin is one from the plugins which load my server hard.
Thanks. :)
@kolorafa
I am using WorldGuard to protect spawn and other things, Residence for players. That's why I strongly believe this should be fixed.
How do you change the flags that the person renting the residence will have? I want to make it where they can only open chests, not break blocks.
Also, when it says days, is it referring to in-game days, or real-time days? Also, it would be really neat if the plugin were to tell players how much time they have left.@mrmag518
Solution:
Don't use more that one protection system on single world, thats all.
Residence isn't intended to be used that way and probably will newer be, but fell free to open TICKET :)
@Madminor
That is what flags are for, just give someone some flags :) Read wiki to learn more and have a nice play :)
Players can create Residences within a worldguard protect, this must be an issue.
is there a way to add users to a residence?
@CommodoreAlpha
Hangings should indeed be protected
Hello, first I want to say: thank you very much for your plugin, it is great!
I am having trouble with a setting though, something seems to be bugged.
Are subzones supposed to count towards the number of residences a person can own? Is there a specific setting to toggle this? According to my tests, a subzone I purchase from another player does not show up in /res list - so its not counting. This is good (for me anyways).
However, if a player is at his limit (for example: max of 3 residences allowed), he is no longer able to purchase any subzones (it says max limit reached). If a player has only 2 residences, he can still buy an unlimited amount of subzones, since they don't count. But if hes at the limit of 3, he cant. Is there a setting to change this, or is this a bug?
The "IgnoreLimits" setting had no effect on this behavior.
I would really appreciate a fast reply/fix for this, as it's causing some major problems for my server.
Thank you for your time
PS: just found another bug. When selecting an area with the wand (first pos/second pos), then typing /res select size it ALWAYS shows the same size, even though the area was completely different. If i type /res select vert and then /res select size, then it will update to the correct/new size. But if i go select a new size after that (without vert expansion), it shows the old values from the vert expanded selection. No idea what is going wrong here, I know it used to work right before 1.6.2.
