What is RacesAndClasses?
RacesAndClasses (RaC) was made to bring the best RPG experience to Minecraft servers. You are able to customize your own classes and races, making your server a world full of adventure! RaC is inspired by the biggest MMORPG game in the world, known as World Of Warcraft.
Core Features of RaC
- Make different races and classes
- Every part can be customized
- Change the way players chat
- Change gameplay on your server significantly
- Provide RPG experiences to the PvE and PvP environment
- Add spells, totems and other WoW items in Minecraft, without a mod
- Have players choose their own playstyle and gameplay
Plugins with RaC
RaC works with almost any plugin! Mcmmo, heroes, faction and towny. These are the most commonly used plugins for this plugin and they all work 100%
RaC offers plenty of configuration, for each individual server. For example some server owners love the teleport arrow for raiding, and some don't; so It's all up to you.
Developers guide
RaC is as mentioned, a customizable plugin, that also counts for custom traits.
This means, that any developer can make their own traits and make his/her server even more special!

Important notices
First of all: All these components can be disabled in the config!
Gravity's Updater:
For legal reasons and for uploading this plugin to Bukkit I have to mention, that the plugin has an updating service which connects to 'http://www.curseforge.com/'. This includes:
- Checking the Version of the plugin against the newest release Version.
- Downloading the newest Version if enabled.
Error Uploader:
Also the Plugin uses an Error Uploding Service, which connects to my Domain: www.tobiyas.tk.
This includes:
- Reading Errors from the error.log located at plugins/RacesAndClasses/debug/error.log
- Uploading these errors to my domain (www.tobiyas.tk)
- The Errors are visibly ONLY to me (Tobiyas) and are regularly checked to find and fix bugs faster than via Tickets.
Hidendra's Metrics:
The plugin uses Hidendra's Metrics service and sends Metrics data of your Server to the Metrics at 'http://mcstats.org/'. This includes:
- A unique identifier
- The server's version of Java
- Whether the server is in offline or online mode
- The plugin's version
- The server's version
- The OS version/name and architecture
- The core count for the CPU
- The number of players online
- The Metrics version
All these services are optional and can be disabled via Configuration.
UPDATING From 1.1.6 AND OLDER VERSION
If you use the config.raceMaxHealth: ... of a race, this has been removed with 1.1.7.
You now have to use config.healthbonus: ... (as in classes) instead.
You get 20 base health + race healthbonus + class health bonus.
UPDATING FROM 1.0.3 AND OLDER VERSION
If you use
general_saving_savePlayerDataToDB: true
Set this option to false and do a restart with the old Version. For best Use with 1.0.3 (RC 2)! This will convert all File DB related Data to YML data. If you do NOT do this, your PlayerData will be LOST!!!
If you have
general_saving_savePlayerDataToDB: false
you can safely ignore this step.
Known Bugs for Current Version (1.2.0)
Only runs on Bukkit distros using Spigot API (spigot, paper, ...).
@Tobiyas
Yes. Exactly what I mean. Basically it could be like a conditional version of the DamgeReduction trait (Obviously not in reducing damage, although as you know you can use that to reduce/increase damage taken) . Of course it could be applied to all types of materials. Another example could be say the block type the current player is standing on.
Just some ideas for the expansive options you could create with your plugin.
Also perhaps a good feature would be to switch (or allow the players to decide which controls it in some sort of config) the armor requirements from the Races to the Classes. I enjoy the system as is, and it does what I need of it, but I just figure some others may want it that way.
Also a WaterBreathing trait would be a good idea. Fishes!
Is there anyway for me to globally disable that health bar? As in for all players. Also is there a way to enable a cooldown on race/class switching?
@Lord_Eliphas
Thanks for the idea.
Do you mean something like: when you get hit by gold you get 2 damage more (like vampires by silver)?
@MrKyurem
I'm not sure if jumphight is changable. I think yes, but it also should involve somethings like fall resistence. Otherwise all jumps would hurt on landing.
The second thing with retrieving Traits by item is a bit tricky. At the moment I think this will not be possible with my concept. But I'm at the moment on an abstraction of Races / Classes. Maybe this could be another possibility. I can't promise anything.
@Sir_Everard
That is possible. But needing permissions for every Trait would probably explode every Permissions plugin. :) The configuration for that would be huge.... Permissions for specific races should be no problem. I'll add that. Probably with a configuration Option to enable/disable it.
Thanks for the ideas by everyone! :)
@Tobiyas
Thanks for the response! I'll be looking forward to that new version. Buddies and I are setting up a Warhammer Fantasy server and your plugin is helping us to bring the various races of the setting to life.
Nice work!
Also, this little snippet ties in with the previously mentioned "conditions". It would be nice if we were able to have certain things apply when a user is hit with a specific item/material. For example, a player is hit with a gold sword. This player's race is coded to allow said material, gold, to do more damage than even a diamond blade.
Is it possible to A: Change jumping height and speed for a race? B: Make it so when an item is used/eaten (eg, a Rose), they get different abilities?
Hey Tobiyas,
Been having loads of fun with this on the staff server.
What would be great is permission nodes for each of the races and classes so you could limit them to certain groups and maybe traits so you have to be a certain rank and class to use the given trait. races.race.allow.<racename> races.trait.allow.<traitname>
This would be really handy.
Thanks EVE
@Lord_Eliphas
I know that the restrictions for armor is broken. It is fixed in the new version. I did something wrong with adding the shift key. ;)
The health bar can be disabled. Use /raceconfig displayenable false. Then you change your personal configuration to disable health displaying.
Conditions for traits is a good idea. I'll look what I can add in that way.
This is a great plugin! The only thing is I cant seem to get the armor restrictions working. I dont know what plugin/feature we have on our server could be causing this.
No matter what restrictions are listed, every race can use all types of armor freely.
Would also be great if we could remove that health bar from chat in a future update! Thats very annoying XD
It would also be interesting if you could add conditions to the traits. For example, if player A is Race X then when he is set on fire he will take no damage. Rather he will heal from it! Which I suppose could be accomplished through giving him regen and removing the "hits" he takes when on fire.
@Tobiyas
Sounds good I'll be sure to check back regularly.
@dimytrije
Hm... I'm on the next version. (especially error handling on wrong entries). I'm not sure where it crashs at the moment. The next version will be ready soon. I'll upload it to somewhere else too, so it can be used even if bukkit staff is slow at verifying.
@Sir_Everard
That's very nice. :) The problem is that i'm dismissing much of the interface I wanted to provide at the moment. Starting yet will probably be changed soon. I'll try to get the documentation up the next few days.
Hey Tobiyas,
This plugin looks great, just what we have been looking for. Simple system with room for customisation. Looking forward to creating some custom traits when you have the developers guide up. Will be happy to share the trait pack I make too.
Hope you continue developing the plugin. I'd like to help it grow and contribute so if you need any graphics or tutorials etc. I'd be happy to lend a hand just drop me a message.
Best Regards, EVE
@Tobiyas
still dosen't works when i replaced it with your wersion it didnt worked then i reloadede it and it sayed Error on loading YamlConfig: plugins\RacesAndClasses 2013-06-13 16:05:49
@dimytrije
Hm.. I think I didn't really mention how to config the traits for every one, I guess this has to be explained... Working on it. :/ You should have recieved an Error on startup I guess. That's why nothing works.
I'll just adapt the code and repaste the correct synthax. (maybe I should make an own Config generator....)
EDIT: try this:
Nope still dosen't works.heres the code
@dimytrije
have you reloaded the server afterwards?
Or I think reloading the config with /racesreload should also do.
Race channels should be added automatic if the race exists.
If that still doesn't fix, can you upload the races.yml to the Bukkit paste?
nice plugin.But Is This A bug.when i make a race i just cannot turn into that race it says that a raace isn't found.i did added it to the channel but still nothing.what should i do
@BiatchDeluxe
Hm. Good idea. I will include it.
posssibility to use multiverse for this plugins ? i just want using this for a specificate world
Wow, going to download it right now, looks awesome.
Nothing to say, just awesome.. And incredible
@ltjim007
