PortableHorses

IMPORTANT: Spigot Builds > #1521 currently have a bug which corrupts PortableHorses! Do *NOT* Use this plugin with spigot > build #1521
Portable Horses allows for players to store their steeds in their inventory. By removing the saddle from a horse or donkey, the animal will vanish, safely stored inside the saddle itself. by clicking the saddle on the ground again, the horse will respawn ready to ride exactly as you left it.
You could even store a donkey in a saddle in a donkey in a saddle (donkey-ception?)
NOTE: This plugin requires ProtocolLib
Features
- Pickup/Spawn your horse anytime / anywhere just by saddling it.
- Option to store (or drop) Horses armor, and donkey's inventory.
- Horse details are displayed on the saddle's lore for easy identification.
- NO DATABASE - All data is stored in the saddle. There is no database or flatfile to worry about.
- Can optionally require a special 'portable horse' saddle in order to function. Normal saddles will work as they used to.

Where does your information come from?
@switorik
Just came out with a update yesterday fixing all of those issues. The plugin should be working great now! :)
@Redstonneur66
This version does work on spigot 1.8. However it does not do everything that portable horses did. For example, you can not currently remove the saddle once you place it on the horse. When you right click, no matter where you click, it will place the horse, sometimes suffocating it to death. So you have to make sure its not equipped when opening a chest/door. Also you can not store tamed zombie/skeleton horses. As that last one isn't a huge issue, we use those horses as prize horses and it is now difficult to maneuver them.
edit: v.6 Most of the bugs were fixed. You still spawn it no matter where you right click. The dev seems to be active so I support this plugin.
A 1.8 spigot version exist but cost 5,00 USD: horsestore 1.8 spigot Quote: "Inspired by the plugin Portable Horses this plugin offers a hassle free way to move around your horses!"
Ps: Sorry for my english, I'm french. :p
@LordKainzo
I never said anything about 'code laws' or accused spigot of breaking any law. They *DID* however use a technicality to 'bypass' the DMCA takedown, I find this to be morally questionable. I also am not comfortable with the lack of source code availability.
HOWEVER, you should note that PortableHorses stopped working in 1.7, it's got nothing to do with the DMCA or my opinions of the spigot team. Spigot added code (which was not present in craftbukkit) which broke portable horses. I tried working around it, and I failed, hence, portablehorses does not work with spigot, and will remain that way until someone (other than me) contributes a fix. (remember, this is legit open source. It's on github, anyone can fix the issue, nobody has.)
Really sad that this isnt working with Spigot.
Metalhedd, might want to check your code laws. What they are doing is completely legal. How they release, how it's built is completely within the laws and is in no violation.
@metalhedd
okay, thank you for clarification.
@Layania
I never said it was a spigot 1.8 issue... Its a spigot 1.7 issue. Go back through the comment history, this bug was reported long before 1.8 and is only a problem with spigot. The 'craftbukkit' distributed by spigot has the same modifications that break portable horses... Of course a plugin LIKE this is still possible.. But it wouldn't be backwards compatible with portable horses, and I have no interest in working around what I consider to be a bad design decision on behalf of the spigot team. I also do not approve of spigots attempts to circumvent the DMCA and will not develop against those versions.
I think is not a spigot 1.8 problem (same problem in bukkit or craftbukkit)
this type of plugin is possible, someone sell one on spigot forum :(
I think Metalheed is tired to use craft, bukkit or spigot and want see some news
with sponge.
Thanks to maintain this some time and good programming, mister metalhedd :)
@metalhedd
That 1.8 of Spigot includes Bukkit and CraftBukkit, but your latest doesn't work, and the Dev Builds link no longer works... Is PortableHorses abandoned for CraftBukkit as well?
@Paxination
Protocollib was never the problem. Spigot is. They made backwards incompatible changes and I can't figure out a way around them. This incarnation of portablehorses is dead. It might get rewritten for sponge some day but won't be backwards compatible.
@metalhedd
Some one took over updating ProtocolLib
Spigot 1.8 is out
http://www.spigotmc.org/threads/bukkit-craftbukkit-spigot-1-8.36598/
Any chance of an update to this plugin?
@switorik
Not likely for spigot. Theyve got their own custom nbt filter .. Thing... Which totally broke this plugin. I tried working around it but was unable to get it working. I might rewrite for sponge or some other platform, but the amount of work required to make this compatible with spigot is prohibitive. It also relies heavily on protocollib and I don't know what the future of that library will be either. TLDR: There might be a PortableHorses 2, designed for a new api and server platform, but there will be nothing for spigot unless someone else contributes it.
With the news of spigot updating to a full 1.8, do you have any intentions on continuing work on this once great plugin?
I would like to point out someone is making a way to use bukkit plugins as is to sponge. I believe its called spore (correct me if I'm wrong), but if you can fix the infinite horse saddle, we all would greatly appreciate it!
I can't use it as I use the 1.8 protocol hack, but as I believe I speak for most of us that use it, we would really like to see the issue fixed.
Either route you choose to pursue, you did a great job with this plugin and I hope to see you on sponge projects!
@OmegaGenesis
No unfortunately not, and with the current state of bukkit, I'm not sure I'm going to pursue a fix (though I will gladly merge a patch from anyone willing to contribute) PortableHorses still works as intented with CraftBukkit, but I have no idea what could cause this current 'sometimes-it-works' thing with spigot.
Any updates? I'm using build #36 and it still glitches out and allows players to spawn infinite horses. Great plugin and I'd love to get it back.
Bug still happens, although less often.
I can confirm that sparts is correct, if you store and then summon the horse repeatedly, after about 5-8 times the saddle will break again.
