There should be no highly noticeable changes aside from increased accuracy for pitfalls triggered by animals.

If the server crashes while blocks are gone they will not be restored (There is really no way around this without storing the blocks). This is extremely rare and should not be a major concern (unless your server crashes every 62 seconds).
