PartyChat

This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of Minecraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.

PartyChat

PartyChat enables a group of players to to talk among each other. It has functionality similar to an Xbox Live Party. PartyChat also provides a private messaging system. There are many different PM plugins out there, so by default this feature is off. It can be turned on via a config option.

Features

  • Easy-to-use party management commands
  • Players can 'focus' on the party chat to talk in parties as if it were a "channel", this can be globally disabled via a config option if needed.
  • Private Messaging system, disabled by default.

Expect the following commands to be added

/party aliases: /p and /fiesta (decided not to add /f as that might conflict with faction plugins)

  • /party chat - Send a message to your party
  • /party create - Creates a party
  • /party info - View information on your party
  • /party invite - Invite a player to your party
  • /party join - Join another player's party
  • /party leave - Leave your current party Other commands to manage parties will be added as well

/partychat or /pc - Shortcut for /party chat

Not all commands/permissions/ideas are fully thought out yet.

Configuration

  • allow-private-messages - If set to true, the private message system will be enabled. This requires a MySQL connection
  • allow-chat-focus - Some plugins like HeroChat make use of different chat channels. If this is set to true, players will be able to focus on channel chat. When focused, players do not have to type /party chat or /pc to send a message.

But there are other group-chat plugins, why is this one better?

  • If you have a MySQL server, parties are automatically saved when the plugin is disabling (when the server restarts or reloads). When the plugin starts up again, players are automatically added back into their parties (even if they are offline), so they don't have to make them again. A MySQL server is optional.
  • Other group chatting plugins have rpg aspects to it, or is limited to only talk within a permission group.
  • Party management is better. The party can be set to invite-only, so only invited players can join. The leader can kick or mute a specific player in the party. Players can even block other players. When this happens, PMs cannot be sent to a player and messages sent by the player will not be seen.

Also Planned

  • A web interface for server owners that own a domain, allowing players to send and view private messages even while they are not playing on your server.
