NoLagg
Version: 1.90.4 | CB 1.7.2
Quote from lenis0012:NoLagg has not been updated since 1.7.10, for more info, check BKCommonLib
Description
NoLagg is made out of multiple completely separate components which you can enable and disable freely. Together they offer:
- Send chunks more gracefully with lowered network stress and reduced processing spikes Read more...
- Remove entities, resend chunks in case of chunk holes and clean up server memory Read more...
- Examine server tick rate performance with deep view into per-tick processes of the server Read more...
- Stop a large amount of items from spawning and spawn at a later time to avoid frozen clients Read more...
- Stack items with a configurable per-world radius Read more...
- Fix lighting errors that cause clients to recalculate lighting (and thus lag) Read more...
- Keep track of server performance such as entities, tick rate, memory and more Read more...
- Fix various bugs the server has (Patches component)
- Schedule autosaves and force data to be written to disk to prevent data loss on server crash (Saving component)
- Limit the amount of entities allowed to spawn per world or globally Read more...
- Watch events closely to warn when plugins execute main-thread methods from another thread Read more...
- Show a detailed message explaining the cause for a server freeze (lock) [read more]
- New TNT execution algortithm that is not only more efficient, but also avoids server freezes Read more...
Important
When first installing NoLagg, open up config.yml and disable components you do not need. This is very important, as some components may conflict with other plugins you use, or may not function on the type of demand you have. If you get a warning message [Severe] followed up with a stack trace in the log, this has to do with the main thread not having responded within 10 seconds. The warning is NOT an error and is no bug, and not a bug related to NoLagg. To disable this feature, disable 'threadlocknotifier' in the config.yml. This feature is mainly intended to notify you what plugin is causing the server to freeze, may it ever happen. It is used to debug plugins in general, as they may get stuck for whatever reason. If NoLagg DOES show up in there, it is a bug you should report.
FAQ
Separating into jar files
NoLagg consists of multiple components you can individually enable and disable. Reasons for not publishing it as a separate jar file for every component can be read here. Please don't ask to separate the components, I will just link you to here.
Spigot server
Not all components are needed when you use the Spigot server. The ItemStacker, ItemBuffer, Spawn Limiter, Thread Checker and Thread Lock Notifier components are not needed, since Spigot has it's own implementations to deal with that. If you still wish to use one of these components, you can, but it's best to disable the Spigot alternative then.
The other components (such as TNT, Chunks, Lighting, Common, etc.) are not implemented in Spigot (yet?) and offer additional functionality.
PTweaks
Since people keep asking about this, I went ahead and compared the two plugins. I am not going to discuss which is better in functionality, I'm just going to state which features overlap and which do not. Both plugins offer a TNT-lag solving solution, feel free to choose which solution you like better. (the solutions are different) Both plugins also offer a way to change when and how chunks are saved, NoLagg adds to this that you can configure when the server writes data to disk. PTweaks offers a way of showing used memory, NoLagg Monitor too with a bit more information. Again, preference. Chunk Persistence is something PTweaks offers and NoLagg does not. Reason I excluded it from NoLagg is that the implementation used up more processing power than that it solved (I did have this for a while). If you want to give it a try, PTweaks is your answer. Monster Limiter is incorporated in NoLagg as well but then for all entities, and more options. ChunkEdits is a tricky one: NoLagg chunks does something similar, with the difference being that it also changes at what rate chunks are sent, which is the main feature NoLagg chunks offers. In addition, the ability to increase the amount of threads running to process chunk packets and the re-using of packet raw data offers some benefits PTweaks does not offer.
Then there are a lot of other features NoLagg has and PTweaks does not, such as examining server tick rate, item stacker, item buffer, fixing lighting, cleaning up server memory, resending chunks, removing entities on command and others (see description).
In short: Both plugins offer some overlapping features, and you need to pay close attention to the configuration of PTweaks and NoLagg and disable things that conflict. Having two TNT explosion altering plugins is going to have strange results, for example. Compare the functionality, decide, and enable in NoLagg what you do not want in PTweaks, and vice versa.
NoLagg showing up in error stack traces
The examine component inserts various hooks into the server to gather measurements. Specifically, you will find that the following lines show up now and then. These hook classes do absolutely nothing when not examining and can not be the cause for any issues, unless the stack trace ends there (first line after the exception shows this stack trace)
- org.timedbukkit.craftbukkit.*
- com.bergerkiller.bukkit.common.internal.ChunkProviderServerHook

Metrics
This plugin sends server count statistics to MCStats.org. You can (globally) opt out in the PluginMetrics/config.yml file.
I can confrim NoLagg version 1.58.1 (CB1795) Only problem I notice is chunks loads extremely slow I used 0.25 and 1 but than i switched to try and fix enabled: true minRate: 25 maxRate: 25 boost: 25 sendThreadCount: 5
Edit: Actually seem to be getting lots of read time outs and server hangs and crashes

Still getting this error guys, someone please help, i've tried reinstalling it, using default settings, everything but i still get this, i'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out here :)
I have been getting ALOT of issues with the last 3 builds, almost every 5 minutes I get a Read timed out error. Any way to fix this?
It took me about 20 minutes of trial and error to find Build 1795, because they already updated to 1796.. And at least right now, they don't list older builds, just the latest for download directly (which is incredibly stupid on their part, not to mention inconsiderate).
So I searched through their build XML page (obviously not formatted or ordered at all) and found 1795, so here's a link for people who need it:
http://repo.bukkit.org/service/local/repositories/snapshots/content/org/bukkit/craftbukkit/1.1-R1-SNAPSHOT/craftbukkit-1.1-R1-20120120.165022-79.jar
If they had just put the build number in the file name, instead of date/time, it would have been a heck of a lot easier. =/ It wasn't formatted for people to be looking through. But tough, I don't give up that easily. lol
@XeonG8
I'm having this problem too. Chunks load slooooooow.
@bergerkiller
strange.. i swear i got that file and tested version and it was older.. now i download that same linked file and its 1796 << slighty newer
No corruption, just seems chunks are loading up slower, than the nolagg version for 1597 build I had before this 1.1 update.
@XeonG8 It is? I downloaded that and installed it here, and get this in the log:
And I don't have chunk corruption whatsoever, but if you do have it, feel free to post here. (therefore always make a world backup before installing new plugins, you don't know the allergies some other plugins have)
@bergerkiller
...that file link is for 1783
Where is cb1795?
nice work. chunk corruption fixed now?
Sweet new version. Gonna test it. Thanks
@bergerkiller
@XeonG8 Snapshots are here http://repo.bukkit.org/content/repositories/snapshots/org/bukkit/craftbukkit/1.1-R1-SNAPSHOT/
@XeonG8 I downloaded the latest possible version from here: http:repo.bukkit.org/service/local/artifact/maven/redirect?g=org.bukkit&a=craftbukkit&v=LATEST&r=snapshots
CB1795 ....Where is that build? I can't find it referenced anywhere, new naming convention for cb builds is different from what I see.
Ok updated to 1.58.1 (finally), the overflow issues should be gone now. In general chunk sending is greatly improved by properly scheduling chunk compressions. Internally it simply works off a list, but this can cause chunks to be sent in batches. With my implementation it will equally use the processing power for every player and it does not process two chunks of a single player at once. (unless that is the only player that needs packet compressions of course)
The 'trigger' packet is now fully working and will make sure that chunks are displayed properly. It should no longer leave semi-transparent chunks behind.
Other than that, some simple fixes here and there that you probably won't notice :)
@XeonG8
@ XeonG8 The 1.58 version fixes the Spout error and was working pretty good. Atm its disabled to confirm the socket.overflow error.
Also NO MATTER what don't use Spout 644 its for 1.0.1 and it deleted all the stone from my chunks :D lolz
Since Jenkins is down they have a temp link for CB 1.1 releases
http://repo.bukkit.org/content/repositories/snapshots/org/bukkit/craftbukkit/1.1-R1-SNAPSHOT/
I strongly recommend the nr.62 one since its the latest stable one that doesn't crash when reloaded. Anything newer breaks plugins on reload.
Plugin worked fine for 24hrs... then crash, well had to remove nolag as it was causing some errors that others have reported with 1.57.8
...also where are these cb1781 builds now? bukkit has taken away jenkins and replaced it with some other nonsensical naming convention aswel as filling their irc room up unhelpful child like retards.
Anyway looking forward to putting it back on .. something about the default chunk loading strips, that just looks terribly inefficient once you've seen the way your plugin loads chunks.
@Wondrej
Wierd, but OK glad it worked and lets hope he fixes it somehow or there will be a better CB
@deleted_7554077 yes removing NoLagg solved problem with overflow
First things first, 1781 is actually Dev build for 1.1 not 1.0.1 so you might want to change that. Also, the latest Build that I seen was beyond 1781, might want to update for the newest builds as a few things have changed here and there. I can confirm with many others, that with this plugin I had chunks randomly moving to places and popping around others. Where half a building was missing was found elsewhere with the chunk. After removing this plugin, this has not happened since. This includes the recent build.
