NameplateAPI
Nameplate(API)
Nameplate(API) is not just a tool for server owners. What NameTag does is 2 things.
The /nametag command, uses the 0-9 and a-f colours. There is also a "reset" /nametag reset (player).
Server Owners
- Have the ability to set a players name tag colour.
- Allow other plugins to set a players name tag. (Username / Username with Colour / Colour)
Commands for Server Owners
- To set your own nametag, you need the nametag.use permission. Command; " /nametag t [tag] "
- To set another players nametag, you need the nametag.use.others permission. Command; " /nametag t [tag] [player] "
- To set your own nametag colour, you need the nametag.use permission. Command; " /nametag c [a-f/0-9] "
- To set another players nametag colour, you need the nametag.use.others permission. Command; " /nametag c [a-f/0-9] [player] "
Developers
- Easy to use an API which does all the packeting business for you.
How to use Nameplate (Server Owners)
- Install the plugin.
- If you wish, players with the "nametag.use" permission, can set their/other peoples name tag.
- If you want to give groups/players certain nametags. Give them the permission of "nametag.colour.[code]". But don't give them "nametag.use".
How to use NameplateAPI (Developers)
- Add the plugin as a soft dependancy.
- Look in the GitHub repo for more info on how to use it.

Your plugin doesn't work. When I try to edit my nametag, I get an error: 'An error occurred while attemting to perform this command'
How can I fix that? Or is it possible to fix it?
Hey can you make it so peoples name tags can be like rainbow? (multiple colors)
@CaptainXD
Don't quite understand what you're saying there?
You can already add colour to parts of your name tag, using that exact same command. Just that I thought people might only want to set the colour too, so I added that in as a little bonus :)
Why not make it so you can add color to different parts of the tag? Then you could just have 1 command: /nametag <tag> [player]
@PazaCraft
ik D: It's all these class updates :( I'll sort it when I can.
get heaps of errors on 1.5.1 D:
@Haribo98
Would there be any way to make a mod that would interact with it? Kinda like Gender does?
@DanielHebbard
This is a client side Minecraft issue, there is nothing that we developers can do without destroying compatibility with other plugins.
What!? No! :( My minecraft username is DanielHebbard, I used this plugin to change my name to Dan in gold, and my skin dissapears!? wtf, could you possibly fix that please?
Okay, THIS looks like a AWESOME plugin for server staff to use in-game so when players see it they know that the person is staff because of their coloured nameplate ^_^ However, PLEASE make it work for 1.5 I really want to use this.
@noraver
Hmm... It would seem 1.5.1 changed class file names. Another issue I'll have to address when I get time :S
installed NameTag(API) - Version 1.3.1 craftbukkit-1.5.1-R0.1-20130328.013150-24.jar

@diannetea
I shall address these issues when I next get time.
I just tested the nametag permission on someone who definitely is NOT op, it didn't work :(
Next, this plugin really needs a way to reload itself
and lastly, I'm having issues with players getting
?fname
like
?bdiannetea
because it's not parsing the symbol in the beginning properly, and then everyone has steve skins :( It also doesn't appear to be saving them on logout :(
@diannetea
Hmm, that's strange. Is the player your performing it on OP?
I used nametag.colour.d and it didn't do anything :(
@jakedogrocks123
Hmmm... Check your config file, see if it's saving. Oh, you're all on the old version :L
1.3.1 coming soon!
After a reload, or restart it resets there name tag color to white
@IchCraft033
For ops, it's slightly bugged, I'll look into that but I don't think there is anything I can do about that. I'm not used to Bukkit Permissions.
nametag.colour.4 = &4 username for non-ops. Ops will automatically use the nametag.colour.a ( &a ) permission.
