About MV2
Multiverse was created at the dawn of Bukkit multiworld support. It has since then grown into a complete world management solution including special treatment of your nether worlds with NetherPortals.
In the second delivery of Multiverse, we've broken it up into several smaller plugins that are each feature packed but *not bloated*! Multiverse provides the easiest to use world management solution for your Minecraft server, big or small, and with great addons like Portals and NetherPortals, what's not to love!
Multiverse is back! Is your server, a Multiverse?
Multiverse-NetherPortals Features
- Allow a nether per real world!
- Let nether portals built in a world go to a specific world
- Custom World Scaling when using NetherPortals! (All types of worlds, normal, skylands and nether supported! Even Custom generators!)
So long Awesome Builds
We use to have this notion of an "Awesome Build" or AB which was suppose to be thought of like Bukkit's Recommended Build system. Awesome Builds were ones that we put extra testing into and were meant to be very stable. Unfortunately there will be no more Awesome Builds. Our development team doesn't have the time to devote to the project that we use to. As such, we've moved to a new build system which you'll notice in the new version numbering. Our release builds here should be stable; Lots of people have had time to vet them for us while they were only development builds. While we don't have much time to work on the project, we do still take critical bugs very seriously and try to get them fixed as quickly as possible.
@sleite
im new to this whole plugin but i give u the tip to give u players permission to go back with an tp command. what u say let me think that the server lag so long that the activation time of netherportals in world get reached so it activate again (when u go to nether u spawn for normal before the portal not in it like on return thats why u have this problem only with the return from nether to overworld
Going through some portals between non-default worlds gives you some damage. In an extreme case, it kills any players who goes through a portal from the overworld to the Nether by "suffocation" upon trans-dimension teleportation. Also, the items does not get transferred over when thrown through the portal: they get lost/deleted. Are these a fixable problem?
EDIT: Nevermind; the problem was with the worldborder. However, it's still a problem. It looks like the player gets teleported to the same exact coordinates of the next dimension before teleporting them to the appropriate nether portal location. It looks like this very method is causing players to still lose half-a-heart when going between dimensions. Also, the items thrown into the portal still gets lost. I hope a new method of teleportation gets developed soon.
Nether portals aren't being formed in the nether when you teleport from the overworld.
- Also, players are spawning in blocks rather than in safe locations
Having similar problems with teleporting to the nether, except my players can get TO the nether just fine. Getting back to the over-world is the problem. Once they are in the nether, trying to come back to the over-world results in them appearing in the overworld (portal), and almost immediately being teleported back to the nether again.
Playing on my localhost, I do not experience this problem (whether I am op, or not op), so that got me thinking it might be a latency / lag issue. I cannot reproduce the problem myself, but all my players are experiencing this problem.
Hard for me to test / troubleshoot since I am not affect - only players are. Hope this helps track down the problems and squash it.
I have the same issue, but I don't think it has anything to do with MV-nether portals, since I don't use it. Probably more of a MV-core issue.
In my case, travelling to the overworld works correctly, but when going TO the nether, it teleports me to the correct destination, then 2 seconds later, it teleports me to spawn.
I suspect, but can't prove, that the second teleport is caused by a small delay that causes the player to be yanked back into the portal area and the plugin is interpreting this as the player re-entering the portal.
@WonderDave
I have the same issue with my server. I can't figure out for the life of me why but some nether portals work perfectly and others send you to the right place, but then immediately to the wrong place. The wrong place is nether coordinates x8, the same as the overworld coordinates except in the nether. If I go back in the portal it again multiples coordinates by 8 (sending me to the overworld this time) and if I go through that portal, the process repeats (sending me to the nether at yet different coordinates).
One of the more frustrating things is I can't find a pattern to determine if a portal will or won't work.
edit: it seems to be the fault of a custom plugin that was designed to teleport players to a safe place when players would teleport into blocks. Disabling it fixed the error. The issue didn't arise until 1.9 so it is likely your problem is caused by a plugin that does something similar (as far as I can tell, probably caused by bukkit events behaving differently). Worldborder plugin also causes similar issues (though more consistent, teleports you away whenever your coordinates in the teleportFrom world are outside the border of the teleportTo world.
I'm not sure if it's just me or just my server, but as I'm testing with Spigot 1.9, I'm finding that when I go from an overworld through a nether portal into the nether, I get teleported into the nether, as I should, but then, with some (not all) portals, I almost immediately get teleported again to another location in the nether, very far away. Everything worked fine with Spigot 1.8.8. I'm using MV-Core build 713 and MV-NP build 704. Not sure if the problem is with Multiverse or Spigot, or both.
@minerdan Update to MVNP 2.5 assuming you have MVCore 2.5
Once I have linked both of the Worlds together, building a Portal from Survival teleports me to world_nether, however it does not spawn a portal in the nether, just teleports the player to the nether, however building a portal in the nether will teleport and build a portal in Survival. Any Help? What I think it might be is that Nether is an original world so it builds a portal on teleport to Survival, but Survival is secondary so it doesn't get notified to build once teleporting to Nether, the plugin is what controls the teleportiation between worlds. Version I Use: 2.4-AB
@SiamoTitan
Make sure you link the world nether to your Factions world. Also I have a question if not hard to ask, does it create a portal for you when you teleport to Nether? For me it doesn't.
let'se suppose i have world world-faction world : teh default workd i've linked world-faction with world_nether it worked when creating a portal in world-faction it goes to world_nether but whenever i make a portal in world_nether it teleports me to world .. Idk why please help
Do i need to worry about this?

@Quenton4
Same issue here. No portal is created when entering a new portal. :(
I read the tutorial. If I understand correctly, I can't use this plugin to make a kind of nexus where the portals in the nexus world link to the various world they were created from right?
The newest version seems to have fixed my problem, thanks!
@manqy
Manqy, I'm having the same issue. Did you find a fix?
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I've been having an issue for quite awhile. An old nether portal which previously led to one place in the nether now makes a portal several blocks away (and underground), and if I try to go back through the old nether portal it leads to a new portal way above ground. What's worse is that if I go back through any of these portals they will create new portals next to each other.
Basically my portals don't seem to be linking to each other and seem to want to create a new portal every time. I've tried every setting I can think of with no success. Not 100% sure when this issue started though unfortunately.
If anyone has any ideas that would be great! (Running Spigot 1.8.8 right now and have tried MV/MV-NP versions from here and latest one from Jenkins)
I have an issue with death in the nether. Whenever I die in the nether, I respawn in the nether. However, my config file looks like this:
Survival_nether:
: MVWorld
hidden: 'true' ... scale: '8.0' respawnWorld: 'Survival' <
-allowWeather: 'true' ...Is it my inventory plugin that does this, or is it Multiverse?
I have this plugin with multiverse-core. When I link the portals, they still don't travel. I have been working at this for like 2 hours and nothing. Can someone please tell me what i am doing wrong?
Edit: Guess I can't use multiverse or have nether portals :/
