Under New Management:
This plugin has recently transferred ownership and has been rewritten from the ground up.
Description:
This mod enables the function for mobs to send chat messages upon various events. Any player within a designated radius of the mob will see the chat message when it speaks. The messages, message format and events are all fully customizable. Read the Advanced Configuration section for more info.
Setup:
- Download the latest version of MobTalk (located at the bottom of the sidebar under "Recent Files:").
- Add the permission "mobtalk.hear" to the players you want to be able to see the mobs chatter (ops have it by default).
- Drop plugin into your plugins directory and restart the server (so it generates the configuration file).
- You can use the command '/mobtalk reload' to reload the configuration file without restarting the server(/mt works too!).
- Your done! If you would like to change what the mobs say, when they say it, and how often they say it, read this page - Advanced Configuration
Errors/Issues:
If you have any errors or issues with the plugin, please use the ticket system provided. Be sure to include any stack traces or console outputs as well as a full description of the issue and I will respond and create a fix as soon as I can.
Hey, this plugin for some reason crashes my server and does not let anyone join whenever I start it up with Mob Talk installed. It always says "Read timed out" and does not load the last few plugins. Without Mob Talk, the server starts up fine with no problems. Anyway to solve this?

I understand and appreciate your consideration. I am sure there are plenty of servers out there that will still find this plugin useful and fun. Servers using Monster Apocalypse will probably be unable to use it however (or any plugin that increases rate/frequency of mobs). Thanks again!

As a compromise, it would be nice if the plugin only allows so many messages sent to any given player within say 15 seconds. I disabled almost every spawn message to lower spam in mob spawners.
%player% does not function.
Causes server lockup in 1.3.2.

That seems like too personal of a request, I don't think very many people would actually make use of multi-world support for this.
Also frankly if I put multi-world support in, it will just add onto the server load that this plugin uses, which is already just about as high as I want to go, really. Sorry
Would it be possible to add multiworld support for this awesome plugin? Here is why I ask. I have multiple worlds on my server and one of those worlds is enhanced with Monster Apocalypse. In that one world the MobTalk spam can get a little annoying due to the high volume of mobs in a small area. All my other worlds the mobs are spread out enough that the spam is not so bad but in that one world it can get a little crazy. It would be nice to be able to disable it in that one world. What they say is up to you, the messages are configurable in the config. Other than that, they won't do anything else. They just say messages when certain things happen (e.g. they get attacked, they die, they spawn etc.)
What does this do exactly like what will the mobs say or what will the do once they say some thing?
1.2 released, SHOULD fix the 'n' must be positive error you guys were having.

I don't think that's caused by MobTalk. Check if there are errors in your server log, and if not, remove MobTalk, and see if it still freezes.
There is the 'n must be positive' again with the CB 1.3.1-R2.0
Are you going to fix it quickly ?
I have a big probleme... I have translate the config in french, and my server freeze after 10sec is loading....

Are you sure you're using %player% properly? You're only supposed to be able to use it in events that would make sense (e.g. in a mob-attacked event). It won't work in an event that doesn't involve a player, like a random talk event.

That error you are getting can be ignored. I will work on fixing it, but for the time being it should not interfere with any functionality of the plugin, and should only occur on startup.
