MCTowns
MCTowns is a powerful way to manage towns.
- Create Towns, assign them Territories, and let mayors divide them up into Plots on their own.
- WorldEdit backend means you can use WorldEdit CUI and all of your favorite WorldEdit commands to create regions of any size and shape
- WorldGuard backend means lightning-fast performance and rock-solid stability
- Mayors can restrict town membership to only people they invite, or open it up to anyone who can afford a plot
- Saves you time and reduces the workload on your moderators!
- Mayors can manage regions within Territories that have been assigned to them
- No need to ask a mod every time someone wants to join your town, or you need a new plot created.

Metrics Collection
MCTowns tracks some stats about who uses it. They're primarily for me to feel good about myself when I see people are actually using what I make, or (in the case of bug reports) are so that I can improve the plugin so that I can continue to feel good about myself when I see people are using the plugin.
MCTowns uses MCStats. To learn what is collected and how to opt-out of collection, see the following official MCStats page:
http://mcstats.org/learn-more/
Note that as of v2.1.0, most bugs will be automatically reported for you. See the page on Automatic Bug Reporting for more information.

@Everdras
Everdras, I have built your most recent code from github and made an unofficial MCtowns build. Its available from my public dropbox. I would be interested in taking over this plugin.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12933663/MCTowns_Xie-Unofficial_12.24.12.jar
Compiled against 1.4.5R1.0
I'm working towards a 1.4.6 build
Please update this! And can you add that by default, there is created a region which is 30x30 blocks wider than the /to add territ region which would have tnt dent on it, preventing players from creating massive crators outside cities
New feature: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/mctowns/pages/easy-regions-create-regions-with-fences-and-a-sign/
I'm working on cleaning everything up for a 1.4.5-compatible build. Right now, I've got all the features for this milestone done, and everything compiles with the latest WorldGuard/Edit, Vault, and CraftBukkit, so things are looking good. Just need to play with it for a little bit to see how stable it is overall, after I've been away from it for so long.
Cheers, Everdras
Hey everyone, I just wanted to give a quick heads-up.
As it is, I'm currently not actively working on MCTowns. I no longer play Minecraft as extensively as I used to, and I'm no longer using MCTowns personally, as my server has decided to go in a different direction than having towns as a large focus.
Additionally, I'm now working 17 hours/week and am a full-time student, so my free time has dwindled considerably. This, along with the fact that I hardly play anymore and don't actually use the plugin myself makes it difficult to find motivation to continue working on the plugin and hard to find the time to give it the love (and testing) that it needs.
MCTowns is free software, so the source code and its repo will stay live for the foreseeable future, and everyone has the freedom to modify and redistribute it as they see fit. So, if you want to, by all means pick up where I am leaving off! You can even continue using the MCTowns name, and if you're so inclined, I'll add you as a maintainer/developer for this page.
However, for me, times have changed and I need to focus my efforts elsewhere.
Happy Hacking, Everdras
So, I have a 1.3.1 version ready for beta testing. I'd go ahead and release it as a full version, but right now, since I changed to a new format for saving towns, you'd basically have to start clean.
If that's fine with you, or you literally only want to find bugs for me, then go ahead and try out the dev build linked below.
Otherwise, I'm going to be providing an application that you can use to convert your old database to the new format. You'll just need to make sure to run that before loading up the new version.
Dev build is available from my GitHub download page. It's the one marked "development snapshot".
@Juggale
"error message saying pretty much that it could not load"
Either delete System32 and install Gentoo, or give me a more specific description of the error you're running into.
Also try checking the FAQ.
well ive been trying to make this work with my tekkit server cause this seems like a really great plugin... only problem is that im getting the error message saying pretty much that it could not load. have any idea? cause ive tried everything atm :\
@Everdras
I made a ticket about the two things here. Hope to see an update in the near future! :)
You always seem to update and respond fairly fast anyway, so great job!
@ArttuJarvinen
In my experience it's very finicky to get multiple chat-formatting plugins to play nice together. I suppose, however, that I can just prefix it right onto the beginning of the message.
Your options seem fine. Open a ticket, mark it as an enhancement and fill it out for this.
@Everdras
We run a pvp server that's very economy based, now we have a rank called "Assassin" and assassins are able to steal money from players when killed (5% of their money) and we have used BankCraft to give players the ability to buy bank accounts where their money is safe. But with the town bank accounts they do not need to spend money to keep their money safe.
I also had another idea; Maybe add an option where the town name that you are a part of will show up as a 'tag' on your chat name. Basically like a clantag. And also give the option to edit the tag and also an option that would set wether all residents of the town would have the tag or just it's staff members.
Sorry I took so long to answe.
@ArttuJarvinen
I can, yes.
I'm curious as to why you want to be able to disable them though?
Can you make an option to disable the town banks?
@Everdras Thank for that, and keep that good work ! :) I follow your excellent plugin.
@Misterx38
I'll work on enabling Curse's localisation feature. I speak French too, so I'll actually contribute to that myself as well.
Curse has the localization system, where users can help to translate mods. I didn't find information about it, but only http://dev.bukkit.org/wiki/projects/localizing-your-project/ Translators will work there http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/mctowns/localization/ and you will be able to download localization files. Try this and we will help you to translate (I'm a russian).
I'm not sure to understand "a way to localize the plugin" right, what I was speaking about is that it could be awesome to let the server admin traduce the plugin Messages in a yml, so for a message which say the town had been created, instead of SendMessage("The town" + nameoftown + "had been created !"); it will be SendMessage(createdtownsucess);, and the string createdtownsucces is determined by the yml when the plugin will load, so everyone will be able to traduce McTown in-game commands messages to their language ! ( All messages like " Would you like to join this town ? " etc. ) I think it could be a really great improvement and make more people look for McTowns. Again, sorry for my bad English, I'm from France !
@Misterx38
So you want a way to localize the plugin in your language?
What language do you need it in?
Sorry for bad English, I'm just registered to say : Awesome Plugin ! Easy and powerfull, a perfect tool between Towny and WorldGuard, great work !
I'm currently using the 1.2.5 version with WG 1.3.1 and WE 1.3.1 ( dev versions ) without any problems.
The only thing that make this plugin less powerfull that it can be : can't traduce : / It could be awesome if you can add a way to translate in our language by a yml or something like that. Anyway, I will continue to use it.
@AlexxNB
I'm working on that right now actually. Everything will be saved in YAML files after the next release (next release that's not just bug fixes, anyway).
1.3.1 works fine with plugin linked below. A little request: I want to integrate MCTowns info to my website(list of towns with mayors). But I can't parse MCTownsExternalTownDatabase.mct in PHP. Could you dublicate that list in TEXT-PLAIN file. Or just show mayors of the towns in /mct list towns
