What is Prison?
Prison is a Minecraft plugin that adds all the features necessary for prison servers. Plugins for prison servers exist already, but many of them are poorly maintained, and the solid ones are paid resources. Prison eliminates the paywall and the updating hassle, and puts a one-stop solution in their place.
What can it do?
Prison has two main components - called modules - that are built-in: mines and ranks.
Mines
- Create mines for players to collect materials.
- Have mines automatically reset after a certain amount of time.
- Interactively edit the composition of your mines.
- Teleport your players to safety during a mine reset, so they don't suffocate.
Ranks
- Create ranks for users to buy.
- Use multiple rank ladders. For example, you could have a prestige ladder, or a donor ladder, etc.
- Run commands when users rank up, to give them access to new permissions or set off fireworks in their place.
- Show rank tags in chat with the help of a chat formatting plugin, such as EssentialsX-Chat.
If you have suggestions for features that you'd like to see, you should create a feature request at our issue tracker and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Why should I switch to Prison?
If hassle-free updates and zero payments is not enough for you to consider switching to Prison, it doesn't stop there.
- Prison is modular. If you don't want to use a certain feature on your server, you can disable it in just a few keystrokes.
- Prison is completely, 100% open source. This means that your developers can make changes to the plugin to customize your server's experience, if you so desire.
- Prison is and always will be free. While we do ask for donations, all of our code, resources, and binaries are provided free of charge to the Minecraft community.
- New releases are heavily bug-tested. We test every single aspect of every new release of Prison before releasing it to the community. If a release doesn't pass our rigorous update checklist, it is iterated upon until it does. What does this mean for you? Solid updates with minimal bugs for your server.
- Prison is always expanding. We are always looking for ways to expand Prison with features that make your server run more smoothly. Additionally, we are always looking for contributions from the community, be it code contributions, feature requests, bug reports, translations, or documentation.

Posted Oct 7, 2020Hey, just wanted to let everyone know that I released a newer version of prison a few weeks ago, but I am unable to update this page at this time. I'll send Fiazaand_ a message today to try to get that rolling.

Alpha releases are available on our discord server, and I tend to publish those weekly, or more frequently.

* supports bukkit/spigot v1.8 through v1.16 +

Posted Sep 9, 2020whenever i boot up my server it says [19:36:54 ERROR]: Error occurred while enabling Prison v3.2.0 (Is it up to date?) in the console, and then non of the commands work.

There is a new version of prison that just came out. It's prison v3.2.1 and has a ton of new features, performance updates, and bug fixes.
The problem that you probably are having is that you are trying to use LuckPerms v5.x.y with Prison v3.2.0 which is not supported. You can either down grade to LuckPerms v4.4.1, or upgrade to the latest release of Prison.
Until I can figure out how to get this page updated, you can download the latest version from spigot mc dot org: Prison v3.2.1

Posted Sep 6, 2019Hey, really love the plugin, mines and ranks work perfectly.
But I have one issue with it, there are no placeholders.
I'm trying to setup a scoreboard and I would love for it to have a rank placeholder and a bar that shows how much money you're missing to rank up.

I have added over 80 placeholders, including aliases. I just thought of a few more today that I should add... LOL... So yeah, if you want placeholders, the prison has 'em. ;)

This plugin is very intersting, I like it very much, I have played it on many Chinese servers.
But their versions are very backward,
I hope you will allow me to reprint Prison3 to Chinese forums(www.mcbbs.net) and translate it into Chinese.
Someone tried to reprint it to the forum, but he didn't keep updating it.

Posted May 13, 2018Hello I have installed Prison 3 v3.1.1 and all command works fine exept the
/mines set spawn [mineName]
when I run that command it says
: Info : The mine spawnpoint has been set.
In the chat it says "has been set" but its not when the mine resets the player won't teleport to the spawnpoint that I set even the Opped. I tried reloading the server and the plugin but still not working.
Pls fix. Thanks!

Posted May 4, 2018Hello! I have recently downloaded the Prison 3 plugin and I have run into a problem. When I go to add the {PRISON_RANK} to the essentialschat format, it does not load in game. I do not know what to do, we want the rank prefixes to appear but we cannot seem to figure out why they are not appearing. I am thinking it is because I have a snapshot of EssentialsChat but I am not sure. Some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
