The concept is simple. This plugin will allow you to define potion effects to specific items that will activate when you hold that item and deactivate when you change items all with one simple command!
- Installation is just like any other plugin with 0 requirements or previous knowledge of ANYTHING!
Features
- Add specific potion effects to an item that will be activated when the item is equipped in hand and deactivated when you change the item in your hand.
- Simple usage.
- Chose between the potion effects of Blindness, Fire_Resistance, Fast_Digging, Damage_Resistance, Confusion, Hunger, Increase_Damage, Invisibility, Jump, Night_Vision, Poison, Regeneration, Slow, Slow_Digging, Speed, Water_Breathing, Weakness, Wither.
Commands
- /effect {Potion Type From List Above} {Tier of the Potion Ex. Speed 1, 2 ,3 etc.} - Add a effect to an item
Permissions
- effect.give - Allows you the use of the /effect command
Configuration
- None for now!
Note - Have any issues? Leave them in the comments and ill get back to you!
I threw together a plugin that covers this (and more) for spigot 1.16.5 (it may work on more versions, I have not tested it)
it can do effects when held in the hand, in the off-hand, in the armor slots, in the hotbar, and the whole inventory.
it's available on my github: https://github.com/aspwil/invEffect
cheers
Yeah, it would be great if you could link us to a plugin that has effects that work offhand!
Hey if not in this plugin could you redirect me to a plugin were you get the effect by just having item in inventory
@Nxtter
GUYS! i finally re-compiled it and i made it work, it lacked a few "catchs", but anyways, looking thru the interwebz i found this! http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/advanced-item-effects/
now im gonna try to add effects to food too!
Hi! Im a plugin developer, a begginer, i was trying to solve this problem with the /effect call, since bukkit servers have their own bukkit:effects and gives a big trouble.
Im trying to re-compilate it with /ieffect, but there's some kind od problem with the UTF format u've used, i've tried with jgrasp and Eclipse but they cant help it. -Could you give us more info about ur plugin? -Is it possible to make it open-source? -Have u any idea what is this "invalid magic number"?
Thx, im waiting ur response!
I have a huge problem. Whenever I use potions the effect comes to me, but as SOON as I interact with ANYTHING (left click, right click, etc.) the effect goes away. I have confirmed that it is this plugin's doing. Please fix! I love this plugin!
@SleepyJasper
you can do /eeffect to use essentials command. same with all other of their commands. you can add an e at the beginning.
Please please please listen to Crioxide he's right! I've been looking like a pluging like this one for over a year now, but it doesn't work because it conflicts with the /effect command from essentials, which almost every server uses. I hope you read this and fix this problem as soon as you can!
This conflicts with the /effect player from essentials can you please change the command? i really wanted to use this plugin but now i cant :(
Hey can you make it so when you hit a player you give them the effect like poison and stuff?
can u also make it possable to add more then 1 Effect to a item?
@JRL1004
Well noted good suggestions! Will definitely add when I have time.
Could you add these features to the plugin:
[1] The ability to clear the effects currently applied to the item [2] A way for player to be effected by worn armor that carries an effect (E.g. Boots that provide Slowness II) [3] A way to apply a random effect of X level to an item (E.g. /effect random 4 will put a random potion effect of level 4 on the help item
Also, maybe you could change the /effect command to /itemeffect because the standard /effect command is already used by many plugins and by Minecraft itself.
