We're currently working on updating our website and API. We'll be releasing a new update once we're done to reflect these changes!

Welcome

MCBlockIt is a new banning solution which seeks to allow the community to decide what happens on their server in relation to bans. We don't impose restrictions on servers or users by forcing them to have less than x bans, or higher than x reputation, that is all decided by the server, for the server.

How it works

Server administrators have the ability to say they don't want to block any user, regardless of bans, but still want to receive the information about a user's history for precautionary purposes. On the other hand, they can say they want users below a set limit. However, bans are both screened after being made and during disputes made by users which are then available to the public after being closed in order to decrease the chance of invalid or otherwise unfair bans impacting a user's experience.

Global Bans

Servers have the ability to ban a player globally which reduces their overall reputation and general trust over all servers on the service. However, as above, servers can choose to use or ignore this feature via reputation or ban count. We won't say that every ban is correct and our system is flawless, because it simply isn't true and we are not oblivious to that fact. We do, however, believe that through precautionary measures taken to determine the legitimacy of bans, and the servers that make them, we can reduce the chances of invalid/unfair bans occurring.

Installation/Configuration

In order to install the plugin, you first need to register your server at https://mcblock.it/create/server by entering your server address, port and a description (as brief or long as you want) about the server. Once this has been completed, you should click the "My Servers" tab on the Dashboard and click the title of the server in order to retrieve your API key, this will be required later on during the configuration for running the plugin.

The configuration file is generated using the defaults automatically on first start-up of the plugin and you will have to restart (if you don't create the file yourself) after editing it for the first time. Information on what the file contains and what each option means is listed at http://desk.mcblock.it/kb/plugins/config.

After the file is created/generated, you can find it in the plugins/MCBlockIt folder from the root directory of your Minecraft server as the file config.yml, you will then need to add your API key in the respective field and restart your server to complete installation! We will automatically import all bans listed in the bannedplayers.txt file for your Minecraft server on the first successful start-up.
