@NathanWolf
I don't have any type of world guard or PvP plug-in I also found out that mobs don't do any damage either.
@TempusVulpi
I'm sorry, I can't really give support for that kind of thing here, it depends completely on which Group Manager you're using- all my permission nodes are listed here:
http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/magic/pages/admin-instructions/
So for instance in EssentialsGM you could do
/manuadd NathanWolf -Magic.cast.disarm
To prevent me from casting disarm.
There is no way to prevent players from getting "certain wands"- permissions are at the spell level only. There is actually no way for players to get any kind of wand naturally, other than to create a custom one via crafting. So it's up to you to not give out the elder wand....
@NathanWolf
I'm really not familiar with permissions, i can't figure out how to use them, at all, could you possibly explain if there's a way to stop certain people using certain magic commands, or obtaining certain wands, like the elder wand? or even, how to simply stop them using a specific spell, and if there is a way, how its done?
@TempusVulpi
Here's a brief overview of the autonoma- more information coming soon, this stuff is all still *really* experimental!
https://github.com/elBukkit/MagicPlugin/blob/master/AUTOMATA.md
And, yes, Virus is actually set to cost more than the maximum amount of mana, on purpose! XD
You can use "/wand configure xp_max 2000" to up your wand's mana, or use the Wolf or Admin wand to cast Virus.... if you really, really want to. You've already tried Hunter and Defender?
Some warnings on Virus:
1. The ruleset results in explosive growth but only under the right conditions- the initial pattern is very tricky, and quite often a Virus will just implode after you birth it. This is unlike Hunter and Defender, which are both naturally fairly dense and can often be cast on a Blob to get them started.
2. When a Virus does die (even due to self-implosion via starvation), it casts Nuke on itself. So basically don't cast this anywhere near anything you don't potentially want Nuked.
3. While a virus is alive, it constantly seeks out players and casts Boom on them. I did not realize that Boom is currently an OP one-hit-kill spell... XD So this will change soon, but don't go fight one without some kind of protection. It won't cast Boom at you if you're holding the Wolf or Admin wand, or have the Magic.protected perm (op), though it will still chase you down.
4. A virus generally won't suffocate you, unlike a hunter. You can crawl inside its maze-like husk, and often have to if you want to track down the heart, which it prefers to keep hidden within itself.
And in case you haven't figured it out already, these things are really only killable with magic. Disintegrate, Convert and Laser all work quite well.
Happy experimenting! I'm having a lot of fun with these, I probably need to put it on hold and finish up Magic 3.0 (the TODO list is still quite long...) but I'd expect to see more Autonoma and more work on MagicWorlds integration (which can now cause autonoma to spawn naturally) in the near future.
@Term21
PvP is on by default, except in no-pvp WorldGuard regions- do you use WorldGuard?
Also, should my Elder Wand be telling me i don't have enough mana for virus?
what does animate and hunter spells do
Can someone help me with a bug I am having?
When this addon is on my bukkit server PvP is off even when its set to be on in the server config.
Thanks.
@TempusVulpi
Version 2.9.9 will have the virus and other automata- they are still pretty experimental, though, so use with caution! Or on a test server first :) always check the changelog for details!
You can use command blocks or magic item upgrades to change the look (item) of your wand to something else (/wand configure icon stick) but personally I don't think that's a good fit for a spell. Thanks for the suggestion!!
By the way i have a suggestion for a spell, when used, your wand transforms into a tool of your choice, pickaxe, axe, shovel etc. and the quality (wood, Diamond etc.) Depends on your mana level or something?
has the virus spell been added yet? what new spells are coming, or have arrived, with the virus?
@Peda1996
Maybe eventually! But not before 3.0. I've added it to the "custom requests" section of my TODO list.
I'm pretty happy with the dtlTraders integration, for what it's worth.
Can you add the Feature that it is working on the Plugin shopkeepers?
@TempusVulpi
Well I wouldn't recommend it just yet (hence the "premature" comment)- for one, it requires Magic 2.9.9 which is not quite released yet.
Once 2.9.9 is out, MagicWorlds will be a drop-in replacement for the wand populator. Check the project page for the default configuration:
http://dev.bukkit.org/plugins/MagicWorlds/
It will put the villager, guest, and a few low-powered random wands in chests in the Overworld, and it will put some slightly better wands and firebending wands in nether chests.
On the project page, I also provide a link to the sample configuration (which I am using on my server) for "The Other Side". This shows off how to use the block replacer- but I will warn you, it is very server-intensive on creating new chunks. It's best for a smaller world that you will mostly pre-populate, though I have gotten the lag down to be nearly tolerable.
How do we set up magicworlds?
I'm excited to announce (perhaps a bit prematurely!) a new project of mine:
http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/magicworlds/
I've been saying I'll never make another plugin, and I guess I was semi-wrong. But this is kind of an extension to Magic, so it doesn't really count! :)
Magic 2.9.9 will no longer have the chest populator in it, this is now part of the MagicWorlds plugin.
I am currently experimenting with some chunk and entity modification features of MagicWorlds on my dev server for "The Other Side" - a special game event and world, where Magic's Autonoma spawn naturally:
MagicWorlds is not another world generation plugin- it uses Minecraft's default world generation algorithm, but then replaces blocks.
The intended effects is to be used as an "alternate" world, that was the same seed as the main world. This creates a cool effect (particularly with a customized version of Phase) when traveling back and forth. On my server, I'm trying to set up a Fringe-esque storyline based around this alternate universe.
Come check it out if you want :)

@Benjireed
So does /wand not give you anything? Is it printing any messages to the console or server logs (or in-game)?
Check to make sure the plugin is loading properly and there are no errors in the logs .. otherwise yeah those are the right commands. You have to be op'd or have permission to use them, though.
I'm using the latest version, but whenever I type /wand to get a wand, add my spells, and configure the mana, it doesn't work. I'm typing /wand configure xp_max (number) and /wand configure /wand configure xp_regeneration (number). Am I doing anything wrong?
@TempusVulpi
I'm afraid not! It's just an item, like any other. I think there are plugins that will clear an offline player's inventory, but of course they may have stashed it in a chest...
Hey! Me again, is it possible to remove a specific players wand using the config files? or just generally without them being online?
