LockSmith
Locksmith will allow a player to craft a lock by consuming valuable blocks. The usable blocks and the max lock strength will be configurable by the admin as well as what objects can be locked. For a player who is not the owner of the chest to unlock the chest they must use a equal value of material within the allotted time. At the end of that time the lock resets to full strength. The owner may place a sign on the chest, allowing for up to four additional players to have access to the chest.

I just found a wonderful tutorial on the ebeans database with the help of my professor. Getting this done has never more realistic.
Made some real progress this week. Not as much as I would like but I'm almost ready for the first release which will have the locking half of the code complete.
I'm going to try and talk to my java teacher today and work through this db issue today. Wish me luck.

No its not inactive. Its just taking me a bit longer than I would like to figure out how to implement an ebeans database. I hope to have something released by the end of the week. Cross your fingers.
Is this actually inactive? I was really wanting to use it on my tekkit server. :(

Sorry the ebeans is giving me some trouble but I'm wanting to keep it ebeans because its built in. No extras needed. I have made some progress and as soon as I figure out how to get the location to compile right or a better way to store location so its easier to call I will be releasing an alpha with locking. Once I have that figured out adding the rest will be easy and I should have a beta out within a couple weeks after that with nearly all the promised features. If I can't figure out the issue by the end of next week I will more than likely take you up on that offer.
Any update on this yet? Because I can help with database stuff if needed, I want to see this released already :/
I know everyone thinks Ive given up on this but that's incorrect. Just finished getting the database to set up properly and to store the required information. Queries are still kicking my butt but I am making definite headway:)
Still having trouble with java persistence guys be patient with me. I think I've almost figured out the hard part. After I have everything reading and writing the information correctly things should go very smoothly.
Decided to set up adding new members to the lock via command. This way any number of friends can be added to a lock. Also signs all over the place are annoying and ugly.
I'm thinking about making it so that once unlocked an item can be broken but having that feature toggle-able in the config. Also setting it so that the blocks that can be locked can be disabled in the config so if you don't want a player to be able to lock buttons for instance you can turn that off. On that same note I might set permissions for each lockable as well. That way certain ranks can lock certain things.
Its wonderful to have so much support for this idea. I hope to have something testable by the end of the week.
We've been waiting for something like this for a long time.. We'll also be watching this closely and testing if needed.

If you look in the todo task there will be a permission to allow or dismissal unlocking chests. So yes it will be in there.
