Metrics

The plugin statistics allows the author to track the usage of the plugin, which supports the future of Limited Creative.

Why the tracking

There are 2 main reasons:

  1. Motivation: I (the author) have no imagination about the usage of the plugin. To continue development a positive feedback, that the plugin is used is needed. As you may can imagine, most comments are about problems and required help with a plugin. No one posts: "thanks i'm using it on my server without problem".
  2. Also as I am not actively maintain minecraft servers, I can't stay up to date which plugins are common used along Limited Creative and may need support/integration or may produce conflicts. So help

Disabling the tracking (Opt-Out)

You can disable the tracking by changing the config.yml ("metrics: false") or using the ingame command -/limitedcreative disable metrics, but you have to reload the server after changing the option.- /limitedcreative config metrics false and /limitedcreative config save.

Please don't opt-out

I really please you to not disable metrics. If the reasons (above) why the tracking is needed are not valid for you, the reason for me to continue the plugin aren't valid.
Here my thanks for supporting LimitedCreative by given a feedback: Thanks :)

What is tracked

  • Server-Name and -Address
  • Server-Version
  • List of installed Plugins
  • LimitedCreative-Version
  • Count of players online (checked every 5 Minutes)

What is not tracked

  • Plugin-Versions (other than LimitedCreative)
  • Player-Names or -IPs
  • Player-Actions (logins/commands/...)
  • Chat
  • Any Server-Information other than the public IP
  • Anything else not mentioned above

Other details

All tracking is done asynchronous. So it should never block the game or impact the performance.

The first tracking after Server-Start is done 5 minutes after start. So you are able to disable metrics (see above) before any tracking is done.

Also it sends anonym data to MCStats. So you can view the same statistics about the Plugin I can see.
