LightDetector
With LightDetector you can create very simple light detectors which you can use in your redstone circuits!
This plugin is a rewrite of Rahazan's LightSensor. He couldn't update his plugin any more so I offered to take over the plugin :)
Setup:
LightDetector uses the same setup as Rahazan's LightDetector. Lever as the switch with a glass block on top, as seen in this picture.
Check out the forums! You can find many more designs there.
Features:
- Very simple detector setup - See pictures above.
- Efficient - Only detectors in loaded chunks are activated.
- Configurable - See the configuration settings.
Dependencies:
- None!
Configuration:
- lightlevel: [0-15] - The light level needed to turn the power on.
- skylightonly: [true/false] - Only detect light form the sun or all light (only in version 1.2 and later)
- lightcheckinterval: [ticks] - The interval in which the detectors check if the light level changed. (20 ticks = 1 second)
- invert: [true/false] - Inverts the detector meaning it will switch on when below set light level
To do list:
Let me know! :) I would like to keep this plugin simple though.

Instead of a glass block over a switch, what about using a block with a special sign on the side of it, to output redstone? Kinda like how CraftBook's old light detectors used to work, back when that was still around.
Basically we'd put a Sign on the side of a block of our choice (so we can disguise it easier, and makes it smaller) with something on it like:
The block's surfaces could be the detection surfaces, and the sign could output the restone, or vice versa. Whatever works, easier to make.
This way we could more easily hide the detector in our builds. AND the light detectors could be more easily customizable in-game, and each light detector could do different things!
Just an idea. ^_^; No worries tho, I love having this plugin either way. It sure beats having a large underground BUD switch with grass and water.. lol
@Mayhem777
I am adding an 'invert' configurable in the next version.
I want to use it the other way, when low light turns on, for lamps in the street for example, i know i can use an inversor but it could be useful.
Great plugin!
Hi, Thanks for that perfect easy Plugin. For everyone: only install, restart and use ist. Ist amazing easy but very tricky. I searched this evening more than 2h for somethin like this and the in 5minutes iam ready :) You can also use ist with a simple clock as a night sensor. Thx for that Plugin,
Sebastian
@Dragosmp
I'm very sorry but I don't have a Tekkit server setup and I don't have the time to develop and maintain a build specific for Tekkit servers.
To setup a dectector place a lever on the ground and place a glass block on top. It should give you a message like: [LightDetector] Lightdetector created! . You can do it the other way around as well placing a glass block first and placing a lever underneath it.
Cool thats great thanks!!
Sorry but I still don't know how to get this up and running, what exactly do I have to do? Plus can you make a 1.1 verison so I can add it to my tekkit server?
@wolfenit415
Try making a NOT gate for that. It is a less simple solution, but it works.
@wolfenit415
Yeah I have to agree. A configurable shouldn't be that much of a problem. And since it helps designing better circuits I will add one in the next build. ;)
Ok. Well i lol then cuz i was under the impression it would be good for lights. Like it would detect the day time and shut off the light and at night it would turn on the light. Dont get me wrong the idea is cool and it works, maybe later on down the road in the config you could have an option
Switch control: Day: off Night: on
We could change that to suit the needs of the switch. Thanks!

Well after some researching I found out that metadata isn't persistent and will be removed on server shutdown. Which makes metadata rather useless in my opinion. So I will switch back to just flat file, Yaml based storage.
@josvth
no whats going on is if i set up a light sensor right in my town it worls fine but if i stop the server and start it up again the data is lost and i have to either replce the glass or replace the lever for it to redoo it it wil say created light sensor again like it never was one evn though it was
I have the same probleme as @chris_simpson I think, when I restart my server the light detector is destroyed and I don't see data file.
@chris_simpson
Could you tell me what data you find disappearing? And how you know that data disappeared?
@wolfenit415
Nope that's just the way it is. Its a "light" detector so it will detect light :)
Cool idea but i have a question and if im doing something wrong tell me. Im not getting any errors but its seems to be backwards the sensor will turn on during the day and off at night?
I have a Problem i dont run a 24/7 server yet and when i use the plugin and make a sensor then restart the server even if i let it sit for 5 mins the data dissapears do you mind editing so it saves it in a file so it will always be there?

@leezallen
No problem! I my opinion this plugin should just exist until the developers of Minecraft add a lightdetector block. :)
As @leezallen said... Although small - Makes A Huge difference!
Thanks So Much :)
