LightDetector
With LightDetector you can create very simple light detectors which you can use in your redstone circuits!
This plugin is a rewrite of Rahazan's LightSensor. He couldn't update his plugin any more so I offered to take over the plugin :)
Setup:
LightDetector uses the same setup as Rahazan's LightDetector. Lever as the switch with a glass block on top, as seen in this picture.
Check out the forums! You can find many more designs there.
Features:
- Very simple detector setup - See pictures above.
- Efficient - Only detectors in loaded chunks are activated.
- Configurable - See the configuration settings.
Dependencies:
- None!
Configuration:
- lightlevel: [0-15] - The light level needed to turn the power on.
- skylightonly: [true/false] - Only detect light form the sun or all light (only in version 1.2 and later)
- lightcheckinterval: [ticks] - The interval in which the detectors check if the light level changed. (20 ticks = 1 second)
- invert: [true/false] - Inverts the detector meaning it will switch on when below set light level
To do list:
Let me know! :) I would like to keep this plugin simple though.

Hello,
I'm sorry but I lost the source of the current uploaded version of this plugin some time ago. Since then I was working on a rewrite which is unfinished at its current state. You might be able to decompile the current .jar and work your way from that. If you get stuck somewhere or don't understand something send me a PM and I'll see if I can help you. In the mean time I'll dig up the rewrite of this plugin and try to make a working version.
Greetings Josvth
The license says "GPLv3", but I see no source link. Could you post one please?

Sorry for double post, but i found out more about the mechanic this bug is happening; it happens when a player disconnects then reconnects (cannot test with more than 1 player at the moment, so it can be linked with only disconnecting or only reconnecting). My McMyAdmin logs says abolutely nothing about it :

Thank you for any help you could provide. :-)
Hello,
first, thank you for that wonderful plugin. The most updated one for bukkit, it seems.
I have an issue with it though. I can't find why, but sometimes, after leaving an area with a light detector and coming back in later on, the lever won't react at all (stays in its state and will never changes it). It seems not to be related with the server automatic reboot everyday, neither with unloading the chunks and reloading them... I tried to "manually" fix it by adding a piston pushing and pulling the related glass block, but it's not making any difference.
If i can help you fixing that, just tell me how, i'll be glad to help.
I'm using the ported craftbukkit build 1.2.5-R4.0-SNAPSHOT-136 found on MinecraftPortCentral, their Industrial Craft ² mod ported build, plugins : Monster Apocalypse, Ptweaks, Bkcommonlib, essentials, essentialsspawn, mobtoggle, nolaggitemstacker and permissionsbukkit.
To create the light detector, one could simply tap the lever, because the glass block is not necessarily well in the landscape, thank you.
(sorry for my english)
I cant seem to invert the light detector to get a day night timer for my redstone lamps...in fact i cant seem to get the detector to work at all it says it was made then i try to hook up a lamp and it doesnt change at all from night to day it just constantly stays on
@alexbrock
My honest apology for not responding to your comment. My finals are taking a way all my spare time! Here, have a special build made just for you! :P
Link!
Have to uninstall this. Shame really.
Thank you so much for bringing this plugin back to its former glory - the new config is really nice, too :D
I did find one problem though.. Setting the lever on a block that has a damage value (new style wood, colours of wool etc) will change the damage value of that block when the switch turns on! :( For example, light blue wool will turn in to dark blue and dark wood will turn in to regular light wood. You can bring back the right block if you take away and replace the lever.
This is my config:
debug: false
invert: true
lightlevel: 9
skylightonly: false
lightcheckinterval: 120
Any plans for adding permissions to limit who can build them ?
This is super cool. Thanks for updating it for us. I was thinking it might be handy if we could use something like an ice block and the glass block to toggle between the invert setting in the config. So glass detects light and ice detects dark :) Along those lines it would also be cool to use a redstone repeater to toggle the light level something like 0,5,10,15. This way each sensor could be individually unique and it still remains simple to use and command free.
Oh Sweet! Thanks josvth. Works perfect with craftbukkit-1.2.5-R1.0. I'm so glad you picked this plugin up.
Thanks, -Tim

I just found out that you could place signs on glass. I could add the possibility that you could configure the detector with a sign attached to the glass. I makes detectors more configurable but maybe more difficult to hide.
@Race_Pro_Kid
I kinda agree. Maybe having both options in the plugin, so people who like the simple old design, can just use the defaults with that.. And people who want an customizable detector can use the sign method somehow.. Although that might be a bit much.. heh
I think you should make other OPTIONAL setups. So the people who like the original setup can be happy and the same with the ones who want signs. And maybe you can add an option in the config file to make redstone lamps turn on and off depending on the time. May require extra coding, but that would be awesome. By the way, it would also be cool if you could add the option to detect whether underground or not. I need to hide it more. It's cool though, I'm going to use it a lot.
@NikoKun
Okay I've fixed. You could still use the 1.1 version because this isn't a critical error. All light detectors should work fine.
With the suggestion of NikoKun I've started a poll on whether or not to change the current setup. I will close it in 2 weeks and we will have our decision.
@NikoKun
Hello NikoKun,
I don't like the current setup either. I've just copied the setup from Rahazan's so people weren't confused on how to make them. An other setup could have a lot more advantages.
I will setup a poll to ask what other think of this and if they want an other setup I will change it.
BTW, I'm occasionally seeing this error in our console:
