Quick setup
If you simply want all players to always keep their items and experience when they die, add the following to the permissions.yml
file in the root directory of your Bukkit server:
keep-everything:
description: Allow players to keep their armour, their experience and all of their items when they die.
default: true
children:
"keep-items.armor": true
"keep-items.level": true
"keep-items.progress": true
"keep-items.cause.*": true
"keep-items.entity.*": true
"keep-items.item.*": true

Frequently Asked Questions
I have all the correct permissions but when I die I still lose all of my items. Help!
Make sure you don't have any other plugins installed that might interfere with the death/respawn process.
How do I configure this plugin so that players can only keep their items in a single world?
Use a multiworld permissions plugin (e.g. PermissionsBukkit, bPermissions, GroupManager), and only grant the KeepItems permissions in one world.
@Wolfy262
There is a Permissions link but Im not a rude person and I like to help people. Simply put in this code for what ever rank you want it to have and all other ranks shouldnt be able to keep there items.
I need to know when the date of this plugin is coming out cause I really need it for my server cause I need it to be open to the public as soon as possible. Its a KitPvP server thats better than RoxBot or any other server cause theres a lot more work put into it and a lot less hackers.
@robinjam
Awesome, I'm looking forward to it. Currently using Group Manager the acceptance of the perms on your plugin is pretty hit and miss and most are miss.
Quick update - KeepItems appears to be broken on Minecraft 1.7.2 and modded servers running older versions of Minecraft. I'll put together a hotfix as soon as possible, but it might be a few days before I have time to do so. I apologise for the inconvenience.
I'm also having the item 95 issue. I also wanted to know if anyone has had issues with GroupManager and this plugin. I've noticed that in pex keep-items.* works great however in GroupManager I have to explicitly specify every single item. I've been told this is an issue with the individual plugins such as keep-items.
Thank you for any and all help :)
Hey just a heads up, this plugin works on 1.7.2, I have been running it on my server for a long time and it keeps coming forward without problems. Very reliable plugin.
How would I enable this for 1 rank but not default on GroupManager?
@UnDrac
I'll put together a hotfix so that the plugin doesn't error out if there are duplicate items defined. I can't guarantee a date for this unfortunately since I'm going to be very busy IRL for the next few days, but I'll get it done as soon as I can.
Thanks for the report.

I'm experiencing the same issue, we are running a lot of plugins so it's kinda hard to check which one is defining item 95 other than your plugin, tho item 95 is the Locked chest ... players can't really obtain that item unless they spawn it, so does it really need to be saved?
@TheDarkDude100
I'm using this plugin not to keep items in case of any death, only in case of Suffocating in a wall in case of worldedit replacing air into solid blocks or falling into the Void from deleting all the blocks down to bedrock. Don't ask why.
@TheDarkDude100
This plugin predates the /gamerule command, and provides more fine-grained control than the keepInventory game rule.
or you could do /gamerule keepInventory true
@Melonking
Thanks very much for the bug report. Are you running a modded server? If so, please could you double-check that you don't have item 95 defined twice (by 2 different mods)?
Seems to be an error with the permissions setup:
@Vlaminations
I'm afraid that due to prior commitments I won't have time to work on any of my plugins again until mid January at the very earliest. I'll still be accepting pull requests in the intervening time, if you (or anyone else) fancy trying to fix the bug yourself.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Possible fix for 1.7? People don't drop their items but do lose them.
Exenete plugin, atualize para 1.6 do minecraft
When a player login and kill him self lose their items. but when build or get hit well don't lose anything. can you fix this?

Hi, Do You think you could make it so that it says a message to people when they die EG '[KeepItems] your items are safe don't worry!' or something thanks, jack
I've just installed KeepItems via MyMCAdmin - server is CraftBukkit 1.5.2. I see the .jar in my Plugins directory, but no KeepItems folder is created within Plugins folder when I start the server, and inventory/exp is not returned upon death.
Other plugins running: Lockette RecipeLookup BukkitCompat
Any ideas? New to bukkit and plugins - thanks for your patience!
