IntoChest
This plugin pushes items that lie on a Workbench automatically into a Chest or Dispenser.
The Chest/Dispenser can be seated directly besides the Workbench or be connected to it via Redstone Wire of infinite length.
Multiple Chests/Dispensers can be linked with Redstone Wire for in case a Chest/Dispenser is full.
Filtering is possible using Signs within the Redstone Wire line labeled with the english name of the Block/Item (see http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Data_values ) or its decimal ID to let that type 'pass' that Sign.
You can also use common parts of Block/Item names to group them, like "stairs" will fit for wooden, brick or stone stairs.
Filtering multiple Blocks/Items is also possible by simply separating their names/IDs by comma.
A nearer chest/dispenser is prefered over a more distant chest/dispenser, EXCEPT there's a sign involved: A filtered chest/dispenser is always preferred over a not filtered one!
Update:
Feel free to create a (free!) fork, get the sources here:
1.3.0 http://minecraft.dg4sfw.de/Minecraft111021a.tgz (stable)
1.5.0 http://minecraft.dg4sfw.de/Minecraft120131.tgz (rewritten: finding algorithm is better, no "*" sign needed, but still has bugs)
1.5.1 http://minecraft.dg4sfw.de/Minecraft120205.tgz (latest one, work in progress)

Please go to Spigot for all future dev for this plugin:
IntoChest on Spigot
Thanks.
I'm having trouble sorting items with a sub-id like lapis lazuli and birch wood. I've tried the name as in game, with no space, with an underscore and the id with pipe (17:1 and 17|1) etc.
Has anyone made this work for items like theses?
Sorry to hear that, but since I don't have any time left for that project, I added my project sources so you can create (free!) forks, if you like. Have fun!
Unfortunately, seems like this is no longer working for us now :(
Actually, we are still using this plugin on 1.7.2 and it works great. It never once failed through all the upgrades and is still with us :). Thanks!
Does this work with Ender Chests?
Can you make it so that it works with the following items: Carrot, Potato, Sugarcan, Nether Warts,
A cool feature would be to get this to work with furnaces...
So there was a demand for this I suppose so I went ahead and made a youtube tutorial for this plugin which can be viewed here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq0k6JVJbLM&feature=youtu.be
@Meclizine11
You misunderstand. The plugin simply detects what item is floating on top of a crafting table (not in the gui, on top of the actual block), and moves it to a linked chest.
That's it really. Players on my server use it to gather drops from mob traps, for example.
I'd like to see a video of this, as well. I've been trying to get it to work, but haven't been successful. Maybe I'm misinterpreting the function of this.
By "lie on a workbench" do you mean items that are left over after crafting? If so, then this is meant to prevent such items from simply being dropped in front of the player after crafting, right? If that's how it is supposed to work, then I'd love to pair this up with MondoChest. No more carefully measuring out items.
It is ready for R5/R6 and the current 1.2.3 builds.
will this be ready for R5?
I would like to see a video of this.
Yes, also works with the actual version (1.1, as of today).
Epic!
Does this happen to work in 1.0.0
just one word: perfect
