The Hand of Herobrine

What is it?

HoH is a PVP mini game based on the 'Fist of Guthix' - a fast paced 1 vs 1 challenge requiring stealth, tactics, and sometimes brute force to win.

How is it played

This mini game consists of two rounds and is 1 vs 1, although multiple games can go on simultaneously. In each round, one player is the 'hunted' and the other is the 'hunter'. In the first round, the roles are determined randomly and in the 2nd round, the roles are reversed; As such, both players will play both roles in a single match. The winner is determined by whichever player has the highest score at the end of the 2nd round.

Each role has a predetermined set of equipment and items that allow them to perform their set jobs easier.

How do you score?

Only the hunted will receive score, called 'Charges'. Charges are awarded every game tick based on various circumstances. In short, the longer the hunted remains alive, the more charges they will collect. The closer a player is to the Hand of Herobrine, in the center of the arena, the more points they will gain per tick. While in a safe house, the Hunted will not gain any charges.

The Roles

The Hunter

The objective of the Hunter is to find, and kill the Hunted as quickly as possible to prevent them from collecting charges. The round is over once the hunted has been killed, or the timer expires. The hunter has a compass that will automatically point to their target, updating once per game tick. If the hunter dies for any reason, he will respawn in a random location in the arena.

By default, the Hunter starts with diamond armor and equipment, as well as 3 'random' tools, as well as a compass. See the tools section for explanations.

The Hunted

The objective of the hunted is simply to stay alive, and gather as many charges as possible during their turn. The hunted is only protected in safe houses scattered around the arena, however while hiding, the hunted will collect no charges and will slowly lose health. The hunter may attack, and even kill the hunter.

By default. the Hunted begins with leather armor and 1 random tool, as well as a compass and a clock. See the tools section for explanations.

The Game

The game will start when at least 2 players have queued up to play. Roles will be randomly chosen, and configurable kits will be given to each. Each player will be teleported to a random start location on the field and the game will begin.

The first round will be over when the Hunted dies, or when the configurable round timer expires. At this point, the roles will reverse and the hunted will become the hunter - kits will be reassigned, and the round will begin; It will run until the same conditions have been met (death or timer). After the second round, the winner will be rewarded, and both players will be teleported back to their starting locations.

Even though multiple games may be going on at the same time, the hunter can only attack their hunted, and vice versa - other teams can not be targeted.

If either player logs out during a game, configurable consequences will occur - from an instant loss, to just cancelling the game. The winner, and the loser can both earn store points for playing. As with everything else, the amount is completely configurable.

Tools

HoH has several pre-defined tools, as well as configuration options to add a number of others.

  • The Compass (Hunter) - Will update and point to the hunted every tick, as long as they are not hiding in a safe house!
  • The Compass (Hunted) - Will point to the center of the arena - if used in a safe house, it will teleport you to another safe house, with a cooldown!
  • The Clock - This item is a 1 time use teleport for the hunted to the center of the arena.
  • Bedrock - An example 'custom' tool, the default purpose of the bedrock is 'The Bedrock of Slowness' - It will inflict slow on it's target, allowing the hunter to catch up, or the hunted to get away!
  • Any item in Minecraft can become a tool with any of Minecraft's potion effects attached, from heals, to blind, to wither. It's all up to you!
