Guillotine

This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of Minecraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.

Description

Guillotine is a political simulation plugin for bukkit. By linking in with Vault and Worldguard, Guillotine allows server administrators to turn their worlds into territories for players to rule, war over, and instigate revolution. Enjoy!

Usage

Overview

Provinces

The basic unit of territory in Guillotine is the province. These are WorldGuard regions designated as such by server administrators. By settling in a province, players will be automatically added to the WorldGuard region so they can build in a protected zone (protected, except, from their neighbours in the province).

Polities

As provinces develop, so might lawlessness. If a majority (but at least three) residents in a province agree, then the members can found a polity. Every polity has a subset of its members called its regime. Members of the regime have the power to offer building protection to individual builders and pass laws prohibiting murder, theft, or other common crimes. Those who break the law will be marked as outlaws, hopefully allowing the proper authorities to track them down and expel them from the province. Note that laws represent an ALTERNATIVE to simply banning actions through WorldGuard that aim to make the experience more immersive, player-centred, and strategic, while still allowing players to identify and deal with problem players.

Intrigue, Subversion, and War, oh my!

An existing polity can send its agents to subvert neighbouring independent provinces, slowly adding them to its sphere of control. In time, as you might expect, polities will devour most free provinces and butt up against each other. Neighbourliness gives way to espionage and finally war... Of course, the outside is not the only place threats to a polity can originate. Residents in a polity can form conspiracies with the goal of toppling the regime through revolution and installing their own government.

Version: 0.0.3: Last updated March 19 2014

Guillotine currently exists as version 0.0.3, a private Alpha. Seriously; you don't want it yet. I'm hoping I can build a public beta within a week. This is taking longer than I expected
