Gravestone
Constructs an inscribed gravestone, with a buried inventory chest, wherever a player dies.
Features
- Generates a gravestone at the location of a player's death.
- The gravestone will generate an inscription displaying the player's name, date of death and game session time.
- A "Treasure Chest" will generate beneath the grave containing the deceased player's inventory and armor items.
- Gravestone elements will only replace "natural" blocks such as dirt, sand, grass, gravel, netherrack, etc. This may be turned off in config.yml.
- Acts as a useful indicator, especially in SMP games, where players may gain better knowledge of exploration attempts and history within the game.
- Configurable options, Permissions and WorldGuard support.

Configs
Use config.yml to apply custom settings to available Gravestone options.
Option | Default | Description |
---|---|---|
enable-white-list | false | Use this to activate the white-list.txt. Once active, only usernames listed here will be granted gravestones upon death. |
only-build-grave-on-natural-material | true | Grave sections will only render-replace "natural" materials such as dirt, sand, grass, gravel, netherrack, etc. Set to false to allow grave blocks to replace any material. |
enable-fancy-grave | true | Enables a "fancy grave" which adds dirt and roses around gravestone. Setting this to false will generate a "basic" grave consisting of only a gravestone with sign. |
create-buried-inventory-chest | true | Enables the creation of the buried inventory "treasure chest". Set this to false if you don't want this feature. |
display-date-time-of-death | true | Displays the date and time of a player's death. |
fancy-grave-material | dirt | Material used around a fancy grave. |
allow-unlimited-graves-per-player | true | Default is true to allow for unlimited graves per player. When set to false, a player's prior grave will disappear and the area's original contents will be restored. If the player's grave block has been altered after construction then the prior grave blocks will not be reset. This avoids the potential for griefing. |
grave-stone-material | smooth stairs | Used to set material used for gravestone. |
enable-grave-lightning-effect | true | Lightning effect upon grave when player dies. Set to false to turn off. |
enable-fancy-grave-side-decor | true | Turns on the side decor for a fancy grave. |
fancy-grave-side-decor | red rose | Sets the decor used for the side decor of a fancy grave. |
only-build-grave-if-player-has-inventory | true | Only build grave if player has an inventory. Set to false to turn off. |
allow-grave-in-normal-world | true | Enables grave creation in the overworld. |
allow-grave-in-nether | true | Enables grave creation in the Nether. |
allow-grave-in-end | true | Enables grave creation in the End. |
white-list.txt
Use white-list.txt to limit grave creation to certain players. Note: Set enable-white-list: true in config.yml to enable the white list.
black-list.txt

Also check out my Prayer Plugin
and Minecraft Pocket Reference!
I have tried the fancy grave options. Still same thing. I have also tried different ways to add materials for the fancy grave. Still no luck. Thanks for the info though.
Love the plugin, have one comment/suggestion tho.
The aim of this plugin seems to be to give player's a way to store their inventory after death right? And this works flawlessly, except when you get blown up by a creeper.
The blast of it does not only destroy the sign and the gravestone, but also the chest. Wondering if you could do something about that somehow?
Edit: i did some testing, and it seems it has to do with the blast resistance of the Area where you die. When i die on grass/sand it cannot contain the blast, and the chest get's destroyed. On a stone area this plugin works fine tho.
@NanotronPrime
Thank you very much. Only these two things:
1. Sign without stone brick, only sign on dirt
2. And please, the information from that plugin DeathTPPlus on the sign exactly the same:
-1. [Name player]
-2. RIP
-3. [day - example]: 02/21/2012
-4. [time - example:] 11.37 AM
I very like this informations.
@Jalulek
So, more formatting options? I think that's a good idea. I'll look into it.
Nanontron I have question A long time ago I used the plugin DeathtpPlus. This plugin is not updated. Is there is a possibility just like in that plugin, that was the only sign without Stone Brick Stairs and text on sign exactly the same as in that plugin? Sorry for my English....
@quadshield
Try the fancy-grave-material config. I'll add a way to disable the age line. Thanks.
I really like this plugin. Any way to disable the Age though?
Added:
Any chance of using different materials as well, such as podzel
I really like your plugins! Keep up the good work :D
@tomaste
At the moment we can only disable it by world type. I'll look into Multiverse support soon. Thanks.
is there a way to whitelist/blacklist certain worlds? I'd like to disable this in a few worlds. I use Multiverse for world management.
Please is there a command that I can disable in worldguard regions to disable player graves from griefing my starter town? I would rather their items just pop and disappear within this area then have a grave generated. All other times however I would like them to make graves. Any help is appreciated!
@i2ebel
Interesting. I've been running a server under 1.7.2 R02 just fine with it. Have confirmed seeing the treasure chest being generated. Try renaming the config.yml and restarting. Let me know. I'll be updating the plugin for 1.7.2 once it reaches 1.0. Thanks.
Works with 1.7.2 RO2
BUT
It won't spawn the chest under it. Any suggestions?
Config set up like this:
enable-white-list: false
only-build-grave-on-natural-material: false
enable-fancy-grave: true
fancy-grave-material: Soul Sand
enable-fancy-grave-side-decor: true
fancy-grave-side-decor: NetherWart
create-buried-inventory-chest: true
display-date-time-of-death: true
allow-grave-in-normal-world: true
allow-grave-in-nether: true
allow-grave-in-end: true
@MisterMystery
There will definitely be an update once CraftBukkit 1.7.2 hits v1.0. In the meantime, the existing version will work fine with the latest CraftBukkit. Thanks.
Any plans on a 1.7.4 update?
Is there anyway to automatically remove the graves after some time? I mean, the idea of the plugin it's really good, but, even when a player dies, there's some items that nobody wants, and everything will stay there...
Has griefprevention support been added?
The only thing i would like to ask for is LWC support. 80% of the servers i know use that.
@sireak
WorldGuard protection is already supported. I will look into GriefPrevention support too since this was requested earlier.
Hi, i agree with others comments, nice plugin but it really need to respect protected zone, exemple : tomb spawn inside "mob arena" arena, or inside area protected by "residence" that's very annoying, an option in the config to disable it when it's a pvp death could be nice too.
