Glowstone Lanterns
Make glowstone lanterns, daytime glass & nighttime glowstone
Version: v1.0.1
With this plugin Glowstone Lanterns you can make lanterns, when it's going dark the glass of the lanterns will change in glowstone and when it's daytime it will change in glass again. The great thing is that you don't need to place a full lantern but only a glass/glowstone block, so you can use it for everyting. This plugin is very usefull for a large city to light it up, that looks really cool that the lanterns will change in glowstone! You can also place prebuilt lanterns, so that's really usefull if you want to plase a lot of lanterns in a little time. You can enable glowstone lanterns with /gl, when you place a glass or a glowstone block it is marked as a glowstone lanterns, this block will change to glowstone if it is night and to glass if it is daytime. If you use /gl l 1 you will enable prebuilt glowstone lanterns, if you place a glass or a glowstone block there will apear the prebuilt glowstone lantern you selected right there. There prebuilt lanterns are in external files, so you can make your own prebuilt lanterns and share them with other pelople.

New version available, Glowstone Lanterns 0.6!
I just released a new version of Glowstone Lanterns. The first thing which is changed is that all the lanterns won't change instantly, but with a little delay. Before you had a spike lag for 3 seconds and this delay should fix this issue. You could tweak the delay, and you could even disable it in the config file. Also a new feature is that Glowstone Lanterns will finally generates it's own config files if the don't exists, so there is no need to copy the Glowstone Lanterns folder from the downloaded .zip, although I still suggest you to do so. Another great feature which has been added is better permissions support. Glowstone Lanterns finally fully supports PermissionsEx, Essentials Group Manager and the default permissions system. The other things that have been changed are mostly little bug fixes.
Download
Because the bukkit administrators need to validate the new plugin file, the download probably isn't available yet on this page. I hightly recommend you to download the file from my website:

How to update Glowstone Lanterns from 0.5
If you want to update Glowstone Lanterns to the new 0.6 version, the only thing you've to do is download the files. You've to update the .jar file inside your plugins folder. You also have to update your config.yml file inside the plugins/Glowstone Lanterns folder, I suggest you to just overwrite this file, and after that you could make your changes in the config file.
How to install Glowstone Lanterns 0.6
If you haven't installed an earlier version of Glowstone Lanterns you've to do the following to install the plugin. At first you've to download the file. Then you need to copy the .jar file inside the downloaded .zip into your servers plugin folder. I hightly suggest to also copy the Glowstone Lanterns folder inside the downloaded .zip file, but if this isn't possible the plugin should auto generate it's config files.
@timvisee
Cool thank you
@xH3LLRAIZ3Rx
Ah I understand. I've to say that I haven't planed one of these updates yet. I might try to make this update today :)
@timvisee
i meant just like a regular update but with the exception of the framerate issues fixed
@xH3LLRAIZ3Rx
For the redstonelamps. I don't know since I'm not able to add this feature yet in the current minecraft version.
When can we expect an update?
@xH3LLRAIZ3Rx
Not yet, you could give it a try with redstone torches. It's because minecraft will automaticly turn the lanterns instantly off when you change them. That's why it isn't possible yet.
Can you add redstone lamps as well to gl so when at day lamp is off at night lamp on
@xH3LLRAIZ3Rx
Ok, I might send you a dev build later then haha.
@xH3LLRAIZ3Rx
Ok, I will try to add an delay to the lanterns then.
oh btw timvisee i can test the dev builds for you if you ant, im currently testing samkio`s GlobalBank plugin
@timvisee
it is, my friend tested with a block update detector and we found out the plugin uses block update, to many block updates in an area = Frame rate drops
@xH3LLRAIZ3Rx
Yeah that could be right, but when I'm just updating 2 lanterns I've also a little frameratedrop which is very strange then!
1.3.2 ???
Are there any plans to updating this plugin to 1.3.1/1.3.2? If you can try to update this plugin that would be awesome!
@timvisee
I just found out the problem of the framerate drops is becuase of the massive amounts of block and light updates
@ha11oga11o
I think it's because that chunk wasn't loaded. I'm planning to add a feature that the lanterns wouldn't change in unloaded chunks, untill the chunk is loaded again. I think this will fix the problem (actually, I hope so) this will be added later then.
@xH3LLRAIZ3Rx
I'm thinking about the following.. What I could do is if the chunk of a lantern isn't loaded, it wouldn't change the lantern, and when that chunk starts loading it will change it automaticly. Also, that when the lanters should change, that they wouldn't change instatly, but all of them with a little delay. If you know what I mean. I've to think about this, the thing with the chunks is a good idea anyway.
@AcidSikeO
Thanks, about SQL, I never thought about that. That might be a usefull feature for some servers. Actually, I never worked with SQL, well, I use it a lot for website programming, like for a Social Network I'm working on ;) (http://www.yupe.nl/), but I never used it in java programming for plugins, as I said, I like the feature, so I'll try to add it later on. If anyone has a suggestion for a tutorial or something, which could easily help me with adding the SQL support, it would be great!
@xH3LLRAIZ3Rx
I can't fix that. It's a minecraft problem.
