GemXp

Table of Contents

Small plugin to enable the storage of experience points in an item. This is a fork of the PearlXP plugin but is now developed entirely independently.

What is it!?

The plugin enables the players to store their experience points in a "soul gem" (see config section) by casting their soul into it sometimes not in its completeness. The players can then restore those points latter on with the same process or give the gem to another player.

How do I use this!

Select a gem item in your quickbar and left click! more info here.

New Features

Added statistics with MCStats;
Added some permissions (information here);

Features

Very configurable plugin;
Possibility to translate output messages (see config section);
Filled and empty gems have different appearances (can also be the same);
Stacks of gems can be used;
Transfer loss when filling a gem;
Gems have now hints in the inventory displaying their nature and the stored experience points;
In creative gamemode, a player can cast a gem without having experience points.

You can opt-out of MCStats by editing the plugins/PluginMetrics/config.yml file

Configuration section

Messages are configurable (comment them to disable);
Itemids used as filled and empty gems (can be the same);
Transfer loss (0 for none);
~~Maximum stack sizes of filled gems~~;
Maximum storage capacity of a gem in XP (current hard limit is 32767).

The default soul gems are ender pearls (empty) and eye of ender when filled with a transfer loss of 10%. The default file looks like this. It might be best to leave the itemids by default; if you really want to change them please make sure to test the plugin correctly before putting it on your main server.

The original idea to use ender pearl as soul gems comes from NEON in an IRC discussion on nebtown.info check those guys out here;

Update to 1.8.1? xp_tax not working and i set in configuration filled_appearance: 384 and when i fill a bottle then spawn a block in my hand, a visual bug i think(block with purple and black colors).

Yes it is safe to use with a 1.7.2 server (they are the servers for the 1.7.4 client version). I suggest you install the latest craftbukkit beta build (1.7.2-R0.2).

Is the 1.7.4 version safe to use on a 1.7.2 server? Or if I'm looking to upgrade, would finding the last dev build for 1.7.2 be better?

This Plugin Doesn't Work with 1.7.2 bukkit :c

Your Able To Store xp, But Not Able to take it back out of the soul gem And also able to throw the soul gem as it was a normal eye of ender

There should not be any bug with Anvils and other objects in the game. For using gems items specifically with an Anvils seems to mangle the name of the gem a bit, but still behave correctly. If you still have problems please fill out a bug report with the process producing the bug and your craftbukkit version. You can PM me this info too.

Tested with nothing but GemXP 0.5 and craftbukkit 1.5.2-R1.0 build #2788

Does this have a bug with Anvils? I can't seem to combine anything now we have this plugin on the server. It undoes the work and I have to get a little more exp for it to show the amount I have. I thought at first it was using up the exp but not combining the tools.

Thanks for updating, great little plugin. If you plan to add features, maybe consider a couple small things:

- multiple items to store different amounts of xp
- left click again on a gem that isn't full to add more xp to it

Great job! However strongly suggest that you do so, it will be several types of soul gems - of varying sizes, taxes, etc.. For example, diamond, emerald, star nether. It would also be nice if they could change or disable the effects of the use of the soul gem.

Needs a reload option to prevent start/stop servering on testing, but I love this. You guys rock.

I went for low yield emeralds (85 xp per emerald) and had them shift to a nether star. You have single handedly given emeralds a use in minecraft for me lol

this is a incredible feature for my serve that make that people want to buy pick up spawner becose oderwais they ar just farming end trading with this feature i can make that people trade xp for stuf :DD
