What is the enhancement in mind? How should it look and feel?

The enhancment that should be added is a varible so then the player can input the text such as if you have the sign with it to say /say the player can input a text for the command to execute so if I typed in Hello it would execute the command /say Hello etc. This will allow a wider variable in the commands that can be executed from the signs.
