QuickLinks
Permissions Support
- Supports all permissions systems that Vault supports.
Features
- Extremely optimized code, Average chat execution is around 0.10ms
- Ability to color players nametags based on their colored group!
- Full control over your servers chat formatting
- Ability to test what the chat would look like with /cg test all or /cg test <group>
- Importation ability using Vault, loads your chat settings from your previous Chat formatter (if applicable)
- Attention: ColoredGroups disregards prefixes from your permissions system, it allows you to easily set chat colors in the ColoredGroups config.yml rather than with your permissions system.
Commands
- /cg help - Lists all available commands
- /cg reload config - Reloads variables from config
- /cg reload tags - Reloads tags if they are enabled
- /cg test all - Sends you an example message of what all groups looks like in chat
- /cg test <group> - Sends you an example of what that groups chat would look like
- /cg import - Imports chat profiles using vault from your previous chat provider
Installation
- Drag and drop the .jar into the plugins directory and restart the server.
How to set groups
- ColoredGroups works by "hooking" into your permissions plugin to see how to format chat messages.
- You need to properly configure ColoredGroups in order to work, however it is very simple.
Easy method
- If you have vault installed, simply run /cg import
- Vault will scan what permissions system you use, and then fill our config nicely :)
More involved method
..............bPermissions......................|.............ColoredGroups.......
-
- Once you map all your ranks over to ColoredGroups, you can now configure the colors how you please.

Hey i am pretty new and this is my first server , how do i set my self to be a owner ?sorry i dont really get it :S ... what do i do (/....) ?
@johntam
Chat is displayed to console in vanilla, this is an intended feature.
Im using MultiCraft to run my Server and when I use this plugin, all the chat is displaying inside the Console now. Is there a way to disable this and make it show back on the "Chat" page?
Okay, I'm having some sort of issue with posting this comment, so I dropped it into a pastebin link .. http://pastebin.com/kjaQABJR
@benneht
Elaborate? Im not sure whats not working with tagapi because I haven't tested :P
Possible compatibility with TagAPI?
@Micky2506
Good to hear, if you have any issues feel free to make a ticket or comment about it.
Got it fixed, it was conflicting with something else :P
@Micky2506
Make sure you type them like '&c' for red, etc.
Color codes seem to be broken for me :/ Check back here in a moment trying something..
@mcdeathforce
You can enable the muffix, it's defined in each 'group'. Use a color code to define its color.
Can you make it so we can enable on Muffix?
@Micky2506
Still thinking of a way to do that in a efficient manner, sometimes you have to compromise efficiency to add new features (almost always actually..), I'll look into adding a section in the config where you can have player specific 'chat profiles'.
Yay! Thanks alot for fast responses and a special version for my feature requests :D
Edit: Already in use instead of my old Chat plugins! Could you add per-player color code chat support as well as per-player prefix, not necessarily by default? Thanks. I'm also
@Micky2506
Just finished the next version which you can get here. Basically if you want to have LiveChat work with ColoredGroups, set override to true in the config.yml for ColoredGroups. It will provide a base level of compatibility.
@Micky2506
I just tested and it seems LiveChat overrides ColoredGroups, so it will render ColoredGroups useless. I'll work on making them compatible.
Great! Thanks for responding so quickly.. already installing. Do you know if it work with LiveChat?
@Micky2506
In the latest version I introduced import via vault, so it imports your perms plugins stuff into ColoredGroups.
Also per user chat is being planned, yes. :D
Great plugin, would it be possible to add per-user colored chat? Also, it would be nice to just use my permission system's prefix's. Thanks!
@FranciscoZattoni
Thanks, if you need help at all you can PM me about it :D
