ColoredBooks v.1.0 - Create colored books!
Description
Ever wanted to create books in-game? Well, as of Minecraft 1.4 you can! Unfortunately, your text is all black on white. Nothing amazing, right? Well, with ColoredBooks you can write books with color! Your books won't be as plain!
Features
- Colorable text in books !
- Signed or unsigned books are supported (colored text can be visible on a final / unfinal book) !
Commands
Instead of typing /cb, you may type /colorbook .
- /cb
- Colors the text within the book on your hand !
How to Use
When you type your text within the book, you label text with color codes (EX: &1, &f, &3, &b) which can be found here.. Then, when you want to convert those to colors, you type the /cb or /colorbook command. A copy of your book will be made but all text will be put into color.

Posted Dec 2, 2017In code, if you decompile and change in "private ItemStack colorBook" the page.replaceall with this "page = page.replaceAll("&", "§");" it works in minecraft 1.8+

From my experience it doesn't display the characters (like §a for example) but it will still change the color for all text that follows.

Alt codes do not work, and the § character cannot be typed even using a keyboard which has it implemented, meaning titles cannot be colored or formatted in-game.

When I originally made the plugin, this was unheard of. I did research myself.
Thanks for the information. Although using Vanilla Minecraft is more convenient, this plugin probably makes it easier for the average noob :P

Posted May 18, 2013I was going to get this plugin but with a bit of research i can see that this can be replicated in vanilla minecraft. Just copy this character : §
You can type it by holding alt and pressing 0167. Then, copy it to your clipboard and paste it into a book with CTRL+V. Then use the color code you want to write in and you immediately start writing in that color.

When you type /cb/, your book is copied and put into your inventory. The copy of the book has the colors updated. So, make sure you are looking into the correct book.
Otherwise, please paste / write a brief example of how you used the color codes in the book.

Um ... what? Yes, I know Craftbukkit uses ChatColor ... but the point of this plugin is to be able to write colored-text books. For example, this is my book:
&kLOL &4RandomBook
After typing /cb, &k and &4 will be replaced with their ChatColors which will cause the book to be colored ...

I don't believe that character is found on the English (United States) keyboard. I think on many European keyboards they support that feature!

An even more strange thing (of which i don't understand why they implemented it that way) is that vanilla Minecraft supports colors by using § but i never found a way to somehow input that character.

Well ... thats what you do. When you type your text within the book, use the &a-f and &0-9 color codes. Then, when you want to convert those to colors, you type the /cb or /colorbook command.
As far as I know, you cannot do this on Vanilla Minecraft
