ChopTree2
This is a continuation of the very popular but sadly inactive ChopTree plugin by Iso_1. This new version started as a copy of the old one, but has been updated to fit the newer API. I have done what I can to bring this excellent plugin back to life.
2.1+ UPDATE NOTICE: To clean up the code and make the plugin a little more efficient I have removed the .properties files and replaced them with .yml equivalents. Anyone using 2.0 or before will need to reset their settings (which can be done in game using the /choptree toggle {option} command).
What Is ChopTree
ChopTree is a simple plugin, that lets Trees act like cacti. (Chop the bottom block to pop the whole tree)
This plugin is originally coded by askmeaboutlo0m. (Iso_1) kept it updated up to the 1.0.1 Craftbukkit build and removed some errors. Since 1.2 the plugin is now managed by ellbristow.
Please give me feedback and make suggestions for any features you would like.
Features
- Lets trees act like cacti - remove a block and all blocks above are yieled too.
- Alternatively you can make that log blocks move down one by one instead - no more climbing trees.
- Option to pop Leaves when the tree pops (or to bring them down with the logs if using the move down feature)
- Works with all tree types (they all yeild their own wood and saplings).
- Also works with "big" trees that have multiple branches - makes felling them a lot easier.
- Restrict using this plugin to certain tools only.
- Only works on trees, houses made of logs are safe!
Installation
- Copy the .jar to your plugins folder
- Restart your server/plugins
- Edit the config.yml file to your liking (It's self explanatory)
- Restart again
- Enjoy (Important step!)

A new version of ChopTree has just been uploaded pending approval. This adds support for the new 1.7 trees including the acacia trees that don't always have leaves directly above the lowest block.
To do this I had to change the algorithm that searches for leaves to check if a log is a tree or part of a building. Hopefully the new method doesn't cause any issues with buildings being griefed.
As always, please report any bugs or console errors in the tickets section.
One of my player's favourite plugins. Any chance this will be updating to be compatible with the new 1.7 trees? Its current version does not.
Works a couple of days and now it works only for Ops. Does anybody know the reason or is there a fix or an update soon?
Otherwise a good plugin.
CB Version 1.6.4 R2.1 and latest Chop Tree 2 Version
Just a note to those that don't understand how this plugin works: If you are trying to chop a tree, at least one wood block must be connected to two or more leaf blocks. If there is only 1 leaf block touching an adjacent wood block, the tree will not chop. If you encounter a tree that won't chop, this is most likely the reason. You can test this in creative by placing wood and leaf blocks to experiment.
Also, verifying here that it does work on latest Bukkit build 1.6.4-R2.0.
@eogen
I'm in the same boat!
new feature..
MCMMO support!
@CbertCbert
Works on my server! :)
Will it work on version 1.6.2?
worked once and it was amazing and then it stopped working :(
No ;)
Does this need permissionEx?
How do you run this thing without permissions? I have ran minecraft servers for 3 years and never needed permissions for anything. All I want is a plugin that makes the trees fall down when you chop the bottom. Seems ridiculous that I'd need permissions for that.
One more feature request:
Support for McMMO to level up the axe feature when chopping down a tree? I think the previous version had it in the works, but this one no longer has it..
Feature Request: A config file option to identify what blocks trees can be made of. -- There are several other mods that add trees based on custom blocks -- IndustrialCraft/RedPower2 and Rubber Trees for example. It should be a simple add to this plugin to allow customizable block/leaf combinations.
Hello
So, I've read the info on this, and it looks cool. I'm wondering if you can, or if so, how do you get this to work with tools that were modded in? I tried just using the name, then tried the Item ID, but neither seemed to work.
To give you a bit more info, I'm trying to set up a Voltz server. So I've got things like bronze and steel axes, and paxels. It would really be better if those could be used for this too.
And BTW, this works fine right up to 1.5.2
@Conan1981m
Because you're not using a permissions plugin.
Ok, No matter what i try, i cant use it for players, its just working for OPs ... ActivebyDefault - no use Adding Players to the Players list - no use
Write Permissions.yml with permissions to users - no use
I dont get it, why is it still only working for OPs ?
I use Essentials, maybe thats the reason ?!?
Maybe this Plugin requires Permissions ?!?

TreeCapitator works for 1.4.7. DaftPFV is maintaining it now so it's in with his mods thread. The only catch with Forge is that it's a CoreMod, and not just a Mod.
