Chimneys SMP
Chimneys is a plugin, which allows you to create chimneys on your houses. It uses minecraft's particle effect, so you don't need any client mods!
IMPORTANT!
Chimneys 0.5.1 is the last version of Chimneys. I'll make another plugin, which will be fully compatible with Chimneys. It's going to support all particles and other cool features like chimneys that follow you or other entities, annoying door sounds and more to come!
UPDATE: Merry Christmas! ParticleWorkshop now has a DevBukkit page: http:dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/particleworkshop/
Features
- Creates chimneys
- Command + wand control
- Chimney wand - configurable; default = stick

You can also PM me your chimneys preview and it might appear here!
Commands
- /chimney - Displays help for the plugin
- /chimney [tgt | std] - Creates a chimney on block you're standing on(std) or on block you're aiming on(tgt).
- /chimney [tgt | std] [rs] - Creates a lever controlled chimney(rs) on block you're standing on(std) or on block you're aiming on(tgt).
- /chimney wand - Toggles you usage of chimney wand.
Configuration
Configuration file can be found in <server_folder>/plugins/Chimneys/config.yml
Configuration nodes
- chimney.smokes - Smoke count
- chimney.frequency - Frequency of smokes. Higher = more frequent smokes
- chimney.radius - Minimal distance to see the chimney
- chimney.wand - Item, which should be used as wand(default = stick). Expected value is either an item/block ID or its name in bukkit system(one of these: (see this paste)).
- perms - Permission system to use. 3 options: OP,None,SP
- block-blacklist - IDs of blocks, which chimneys can't be created on
Permissions
- chimneys.create - Allows you to create chimneys using command
- chimneys.create.wand - Allows you to create chimneys using wand
Installation
Just download Chimneys.jar and copy it into your plugins folder. It's that simple!
Factions!
I've recently added some compatibility with Factions. Some of you may be wondering, whether it needs any additional configuration, so here I say it DOESN'T NEED ANY ADDITIONAL CONFIGURATION to get it working. Once Chimneys detect Factions, players can only create chimneys in regions, which Factions allow them.
Removing chimneys
To remove a chimney, you need to mine block the chimney is created on( that's the block smoke is coming from :) )
To-Do
- Mob kill smoke
- MOAR FEATURES!!!

Uhm... did it. Set the config to SP and chimney.create.wand / chimney.create in PEX. Doesn't work for me.
I get a permission error everytime I try to use the command /chimney
@TomXPro
Yes, as far as I know, it works with PEX. You need to set 'perms' in config file to 'SP' and give your members permissions.
Merry Christmas to you too :)
Hey,
does this work with PermissionsEX?
Merry Christmas Tom
Thanks for 10.000 downloads guys, you're awesome! :)
@BoesesMammut
Chimneys 0.5 has just been tested with the latest craftbukkit beta build. It works without any problem, but if you find one, feel free to create a ticket :)
Hi!
Is there any chance you make this amazing mod available for 1.6.x? I hope so much! I need this for my server and i cant find nothing out there for MC 1.6.x.
Have a nice day!
@Zazeca
Edit 1: Are you fine with everlasting fire as a particle effect? Because this plugin handles particles, not fire block(which is the regular way of fire). Edit 2: I will not be implementing this as there's other plugin for this: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/foreverburningblocks/
@tomsik68:
Really great plugin!
Would you be able to add something like this (A request posted a while back)? I really need a way to have everlasting fire and it seems a perfect addition to this plugin. Hope you can! :D
@CommodoreAlpha
There was this feature previously, but then it was removed from minecraft protocol and I had to remove it aswell. I'll check it and see if I can re-add it :)
Could you add in a feature that allows you to choose which direction the smoke blows toward? (The Bukkit API lets you specify the direction of the smoke, such as "north", "self", and etc.)
@Freejack01
But it doesn't depend on server performance. If you have like 10-20 chimneys next to each other, they'll not be visible. You would need to increase frequency in config file to do that. However, higher frequency means more updates, what doesn't seem to be problem for your server box ;) Try changing frequency to 23 and see the results.
Ummmm this server too slow....... 8 cpu's 12gb of ram it is a DL360 G5 I have no issues with slow.
@Freejack01
It seems right. However, your problem probably is, that you have a lot of chimneys next to each other. That means server is too slow to display them all in fact. This issue can't be fixed. You need to remove some of those chimneys :( . You can check my 0.5 update video(it's on the file page - http:dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/chimneys/files/31-chimneys-0-5/) for more information on that issue.
Using version 0.5 and 1.4.7 .
Here is the config.yml
chimney: smokes: 5 frequency: 15 radius: 50 wand: stick max-height: 5 rs-def-on: true perms: OP block-blacklist: !!set {} factions: false
@Freejack01
Are you sure you're using the latest version + CB 1.4.7? If you're using such setup, please send me your config file(plugins/Chimneys/config.yml) + data file(plugins/Chimneys/data.dat)
no errors at all, just no smoke.........at any of the chimneys i built and they were working.
@Freejack01
Any errors in console or something else I should know about?
It was working and looking great then all of the sudden quit working. No visual effects. Says it is there you just can't see it.
Great mod, adds a highly wanted aesthetic for many. Even those of us who don't care about looks that much like it.
@tomsik68
My bad . 3. Uppercase N seems to have done it. Many thanks to you and this wonderful plugin!
