Migrating from VirtualChest

ChestKeeper was written with the intention to replace VirtualChest, so migration tools were a necessity.

Notable Differences

ChestKeeper acts nearly identical to VirtualChest on the frontend, however there are a few differences:

  • ChestKeeper has new permission nodes. Be sure to change your permissions accordingly!
  • ChestKeeper removed the Party function, mcMmo integration, and the send feature. Popular demand may bring these back, however.

Migration Steps

  • DO NOT DELETE YOUR VIRTUALCHEST FOLDER IF YOU WISH TO MIGRATE!
  • Install the ChestKeeper jar, and remove VirtualChest.jar.
  • Be sure to adjust your permissions accordingly.
  • To run a full batch conversion of all player and chest data from VirtualChest's format to ChestKeeper's format, run the command: /chest convert. This doesn't convert any configuration options.
  • Migration may take a few minutes, depending on your server's speed and the number of files it must convert.
  • Once the conversion finishes, you may delete the VirtualChest folder, however, in the case the migration corrupted the ChestKeeper data or was otherwise unsuccessful, it doesn't do any harm to keep the VirtualChest folder.
  • All /gp commands will serve the same function within ChestKeeper. ChestKeeper automatically includes an alias to /gp, so you're fine there.
  • All Chest Keeper, Buy Chest, and Up Chest signs will function normally.
  • Thanks for using ChestKeeper!
