Help/faq

F.a.q.

Does this support version x.y.z?

YES! This is not a plugin, and does not require updates on every minecraft update.

Don't spam asking for updates - check if it works first.

Help! The playerlist is incorrect!

  • Reason: This is caused by one of your plugins, that changes the login, logout, kick, messages.
  • Fix: Download this task. Then go to the task manager and click "import".

RAM or CPU measurement shows "error"

  • Reason: something went wrong while calculating the RAM or CPU usage. The measurement is disabled after too many errors to prevent CPU leaks or excessive log files.
  • Fix: You can ignore this, restarting the GUI will enable it again. This doesn't affect the working of the GUI.

I tried to install an update, but the updater tool failed

  • Reason: There is no actual reason. It should work, but probably it can fail on certain systems...
  • Fix: Download manually the latest version, see the main page

When I try to start my server, it says "Could not create the Java virtual machine."

  • Reason: You set invalid settings in the superstart tab
  • Fix: Make sure your minimum RAM is different from 0, and your maximum RAM is higher then 512MB.
  • Note: If you are using Java 32bit, you cannot assign more then 1024MB of RAM, else java won't start. The GUI will block this.

When I try to start my server, it stops immediatly."

  • Reason: You probably set invalid settings in the superstart tab
  • Fix: Make sure your minimum RAM is different from 0 (use 64Mb or more as minimum value), and your maximum RAM is higher then 512MB.
  • Note: If you are using Java 32bit, you cannot assign more then 1024MB of RAM, else java won't start. The GUI will block this.

How do I change the GUI language?

How do I allow multiple GUI instances?

How do I use this in combination with mineshafter?

Some people want to use their minceraft server combined with the GUI and mineshafter. Here's how to do it:

  • Set the server type to general Java server
  • put mineshafter as the server jar
  • Enter "craftbukkit.jar" as a custom argument. replace craftbukkit jar with the absolute or relative path to your craftbukkit file.

What about my privacy and the GUI user stats?

Statistics aren't gathered any longer. Information below applies to old versions of the GUI.

all user statistics that are gathered, are hashed and don't include personal information. There is no way you can be traced based on this data. As I do care about your privacy, you can see the way those stats work here. Every time you stop the GUI, this data is sent:

  • your unique ID (see below)
  • Gui run time
  • Server run time
  • Maximum amount of players online

Everything is self-explanatory, except the ID: ID (plain text) = My.Computer.Info.OSFullName & salt & My.Computer.Name & My.Computer.Info.TotalPhysicalMemory & My.User.Name So your operating system name is included, a salt (128 random letters / ciphers), the amount of ram and your username. Here comes the magic: this text is converted into a hexadecimal code. This code:

  • Is hashed in sha256
  • can't be ever decrypted. I can't, you can't, nobody can reverse this code into text again.

Feel free to PM if you have further questions, or if you want this anonymous data removed. (you will have to provide your unique ID code in that case, I can make a tool to generate it, let you run the tool, then remove the ID you created with the tool from the database)
