bPermissions
bPermissions
Welcome to bPermissions, a Superperms Manager for Bukkit! bPermissions focuses on being unique from the rest of the Permission managers. It's very simple to set up and use, it's lightning fast, fully featured, and has a great support team!
Some features:
- bPermissions has a gui client specifically designed to make running a server so easy that you'll forget that you ever used any other permissions plugin. Get it here!
- bPermissions has a unique command structure, never before seen in a permission manager. It's best used for adding lots of nodes to a user or group from the console or in-game, less typing!
- bPermissions has everything you would expect from a Permissions manager. Prefix and suffix support, inheritance, per-player permissions, multiworld support, promotion/demotion tracks, and even group priorities for multi-group setups.
- Note - bPermissions only defines prefixes and suffixes. You need a chat plugin such as bChatManager for them to show up in chat.
Commands
Say you have a user called 'Bob' and you want to put him in the group 'admin' and give him the prefix 'awesome'.
- /world yourmainworld - selects the world "yourmainworld"
- /user bob - selects the user "bob"
- /user setgroup admin - set bob's group as "admin"
- /user meta prefix awesome - set bob's prefix to "awesome"
You can do the same with groups!
- /world yourmainworld - again, selects the world
- /group admin - selects the group "admin"
- /group addgroup moderator - makes the admin group inherit from the moderator group
- /group meta prefix &c[Admin] - sets the admin prefix to "&c[Admin]"
Some other commands are as follows
- /permissions (or /bperms,/bp,/p) - general commands for bPermissions are prefixed by this
- /permissions import pex - import a pex permissions.yml in the pex folder
- /permissions reload - reloads your bPermissions files
- /permissions save - if auto-save is false, this saves your perms
- /permissions backup - backup your permissions
- /permissions helpme - for the lazy among you, this spews out some basic permissions files into your folder.
In order to use these commands, you'll need the permissions node bPermissions.admin
For configurable /promote and /demote tracks, you'll want to use permissions tracks. To read about those, visit this page
Want more commands? We have some others over on the commands page. Check 'em out!
Editing Files
bPermissions creates per world groups.yml and users.yml files in the bPermissions folder, which allow you to configure permissions on a per world basis.
Because bPermissions was designed to be configured largely via commands, bPermissions will often overwrite changes to these files especially if you /reload or restart the server.
If you've edited the files, you MUST use /permissions reload to load the modified files into the server, otherwise the permissions changes won't apply. Because a standard /reload unloads all plugins like a server stop, we cannot tell the difference between them and this will overwrite changes to your files with whatever the server last stored.
World mirroring
Worlds are mirrored like so:
world_mirroring_to: world_mirroring_from world_nether: world world_the_end: world
This duplicates the whole config for that world. Currently there's no way to have just the users or the groups mirrored, stay tuned for an update that adds this!
bPermissions and EssentialsChat
Allow me to put this issue to bed. Essentials Chat + bPermissions works for prefix and color.
This guide is for current users of EssentialsChat and want to use bPermissions along with it.
Players have colored rank prefixes and faction chat modes are also colored. All text can be colored by the players too using color codes such as &c.
bPermissions\world\groups.yml ( code snippet )
default: default groups: ## Peasant ## default: permissions: - group.default - group.userannouncer - group.userauction groups: - userannouncer - userauction meta: priority: '100' ## Citizen ## rank1: permissions: - group.default - group.rank1 groups: - default meta: priority: '200'
It has nothing configured for prefix but the group names are important (default, rank1)
Essentials\config.yml ( Code Snippet )
change-displayname: true #add-prefix-suffix: false player-commands: - chat.color - chat.format - chat.shout - chat.question chat: radius: 0 group-formats: default: '&8&lPeasant &r&8{DISPLAYNAME}&7:&r {MESSAGE}' rank1: '&8&lCitizen &r&7{DISPLAYNAME}&7:&r {MESSAGE}' moderator: '&e&l[Mod] &r&3{DISPLAYNAME}&7:&r {MESSAGE}' admin: '&c&l[Admin] &r&e{DISPLAYNAME}&7:&r {MESSAGE}'
Please direct all other Essentials support to their official support networks.
How do I get support?
First, we highly recommend you go read the FAQ page. If the answer isn't there, there's a few options of support.
- Visit the #bananacode irc channel on irc.esper.net. Just head there, as your question, and wait for someone to help you. It might be a while before you get an answer, so be patient!
- You can file a ticket. This is recommended if you don't have the time to hang around in the IRC or you have a bug report. Be prepared to check back to the ticket though, and make sure you attach your bPermissions groups and users yml files to the ticket.
- Comment on the bPermissions main page.
Note that as there's only one (slightly inactive) maintainer at the moment, any support queries may take some time.
However you choose to get support, "pls dont use txt spk," and make sure you use actual grammar.

@jfpion Talk to the godpowers people about it - this plugin works generally with everything - perhaps you have the permission nodes incorrectly?
Also the folder structure is plugins/bPermissions/worlds/worldname.yml
There is a different worldname.yml for each world, all in the /worlds/ folder
@jfpion there is a permission node within bukkit for that - I don't know it offhand.
that's what i'm looking for but the bukkit people are more coding oriented than explaining dedicated.
and the wiki sucks about the basic configuration, no explanation when there is one it's done with the coder syntax (are they really human ? ) so .....i haven't found it for now
if some body have the link ..
thank you
hello look like bpermissions doesn't like the god powers plugins i'm admin with all the permission it work great with multivers and multiverse portals but I can't get the god powers plugin allowed. here the configuration:
default: joueurs groups: joueurs: - multiverse.access.bienvenue - multiverse.access.world
modo: - multiverse.core.list.worlds - multiverse.help - multiverse.core.info - multiverse.core.spawn.set - multiverse.core.coord - multiverse.core.tp.self - multiverse.core.tp.other - multiverse.core.list.who - multiverse.core.spawn.self - multiverse.core.spawn.other - multiverse.core.purge - multiverse.core.modify - multiverse.portal.list - multiverse.portal.info - godPowers.godmode - godPowers.godmodeOnLogin - godPowers.jesus - godPowers.heal - godPowers.zeus - godPowers.commands - IBICF.fly - multiarrow.use.teleport - multiarrow.use.explosive - multiarrow.use.lightning - multiarrow.use.water - multiarrow.use.animals - multiarrow.use.water - multiverse.access.joss1.8 - worldedit.superpickaxe admin: - "*" players: thor50: - admin zorglub50 - modo - joueurs
as i'm still trying to make the thing to work ... i must have done something stupid !
also I've added some world with multiverse, but there is only the folder of the first one in the bpermission folder, what have I to do to get the folders for the different world ?
thank you a lot
@jfpion there is a permission node within bukkit for that - I don't know it offhand.
is it possible for a non op to allow the give command ?
the purpose is for a multiverse server to allow the give command in some world and not in the other. I would like not to ops the player for that
is it possible ?
Thank you
ah okay :) Thx!
@owenftw
The addgroup command is for adding groups to players
Groups are automatically created when you add nodes to them, otherwise there will be no entry in the file for that specific group. /p global addnode node.node groupname is the command you want
EDIT: Got it working =] i didnt have a defualt group set..-.- thank god for that.. only took me what- 10hrs to get it working lol but was worth it =] finnaly got off permissions 3.1.6 and can now promote in game :D
in the bpermissions.. it comes up as [Admin] in game but when i add more groups.. nothing comes up in game =[
groups i want: Guest, Regular, Member, Trusted, Donator, EpicDonator, Mod, SuperMod, Admin
@lordboos that would be something like
The plugin you are using would need to be edited for the bPermissions API in order to do that.
Is it possible to add those nodes with this permission system? And how?
@owenftw: I would recommend to quote the prefixes (only to be sure).
@codename_B: You are using SuperPerms? So any plugin that is using SuperPerms to check the permissions could use this? And I guess there is no permissions value support?
Fabian
@owenftw what version of iChat?
Use iChat for P2
its just showing up as <owenftw> and <Pro5d> in white
@owenftw world.yml
Then use herochat, bchat, ichat etc etc.
Basically any chat plugin you like - bPermissions is compatible with most.
Cant get the [Admin] to show up in chat -.- tryed so many things
anyway could see a full example of bpermissions? and what other plugins need for the [admin] to show and there configs to ^.^

Does this support MySQL databases? If not is it planned?
@ivals if I did that I would have a topic about it here - I don't and hence it doesn't do it. It's kind of taken for granted that you need a chat plugin to format chat - though I will mention it explicitly for people like you.
@darkcloud784 have you given yourself the build node bPermissions.build and all the relevant LWC nodes?
@LordValgor does EssentialsChat use the GroupManager interface? If so it won't work with this - try iChat or herochat.
I am unable to add prefixes to my group names. Apparently The Colors transferred over fine when I imported, but when I tried to input the permission nodes for prefixes it didn't work. I am using Essentials Chat as my chat plugin. Thanks.
Whenever I attempt to switch to this permissions system I cant open chests that are locked by LWC. It does not say I dont have permission, it just wont open. No errors in console either O.o
