1. Select area with world edit2. Use [/biome set-selection name]3. Use [/biome get] . . New biome shows correctly!4. Use [//regen] to try to set new blocks5. No new blocks, and [/biome get] shows the old biome again.
I have tried with mushroom island, taiga, jungle, extreme hills, and desert with regions ranging from 1 chunk to over 300,000 blocks.

Having the same issue.
This is a known complication of the 1.2 update. A fix is planned, but not yet implemented. For now, I have attempted to make this more clear on the project main page.
A new build will be uploaded as soon as it's ready, so check back regularly for updates.

Small update: Biomed v0.4 will now regenerate sections as the global biome, if set. Still working on the rest, though...
